Recently I purchased the Griffon Mail Carrier and was very surprised when I found out that the animation does not play for the player who purchased it. They only play when a player receives your mail. I guess I’m a little late to the party for only having just figured this out now, but nonetheless it’s still very disappointing.

Does anyone know if ANet ever intends to change this? I mean, what is the point in having one, besides them getting money, if you can’t even see it?

I have gift mall, and it displays for both my send (I throw present up in the air), but also for delivery. Are you sure you selected the Griffon mail carrier? There is an option for out in hero panel as well as on individual mails sent.

Also, are your trading post sales using the griffon? Because it triggers my present mail without issue as well.

The animation of the mail carrier leaving you and reaching your destination is determined by you, the animation of the mail carrier delivering to you is determined by the sender, not you.

You have mail carrier A and your friend has mail carrier B

You will see mail carrier A when:

• You send a mail to your friend. (Your friend will see it when they receive the mail.)
• You buy/sell on the trading post
• You get mail from ANet

You will see mail carrier B when

• You receive a mail from your friend

That makes a lot of sense to me.

Besides: I have the aviator quaggan mail carrier, and I see/hear it ALL. THE. TIME. thanks to the trading post – I do love it, but I am also already almost completely sick of it. :P

Okay, maybe there is something wrong with my game then because I don’t even see the pigeon animation when I send and receive mail. I double checked and yes the griffon is selected.

the tricky part is “when you receive mail” — the timing is sometimes odd

the pigeon, griffon, and gift go quickly, so they can be difficult to spot. The quaggan is slow (I can actually out run it until it disappears), so it’s easier to see what’s going on when it delivers mail, too.
