Guild Wars 2

Hey,

Me and my girlfriend have been looking for a rpg to play. Has a former player of GW2, I thought it would be fun to return and bring her along with me.

Since I am unsure that it would be something that would stick, I decided to only buy the core game, and if things go well, I’d get the expansion later. However, I can’t find any option to only buy the core Guild Wars 2 game in the shop.

I am aware that the expansion comes bundled with the GW2 core, but buying only the latter should be cheaper than get the whole bunch. How would I got about and do that?

You can still find the core game in other official retailers. Unfortunately, you will have to buy a disc version as I think other retailers only sell this version.

A-net only sell the HoT+Core Game package now, that’s their standard edition.

You can no longer buy simply the core game from this official website. However, you can still purchase the core game if you wish from 3rd party sellers (possibly Gamestop, Amazon etc).

Here is an example of Amazon US where you can still buy the core game.

It should be noted that eventually, all copies of solely the base game will eventually be sold out and the only option will be the expansion and core game bundled as one. As to how long that will take, likely some time.

You can buy the core game for a little under $23 (or 18 euros) on Amazon. If they did sell it in the game store, you’d see a similar price. It’s about the same price you’d expect to pay for games years after their initial release. I don’t really see an issue unless you were set on a digital copy only.

If you want to try the game, buy HoT directly from buy.guildwars2.com. You have 30 days to request a refund.

cdon.com sells deluxe digital downloadable version of gw2 core game aswell.
