Lol…I’m sure you can think of something that pleases you. =)

Do you like lore-friendly names or “clever” pun / fun names?

What is your mesmer’s style / do you have any idea what weapon and armor skins you’ll use?

What will she look like (hair color / style, skin color, younger/older, cute face or no-nonsense face, short/tall…)

Do you have sort of a roleplaying background in mind? At the very least, you can take queues from character creation. (I would give a different name to a “street rat” than to a noblewoman.) What is she like? What does she like? What does she do for a living? etc.

And if you can’t tell us anything about your mesmer – tell us something about your own preferences. What’s your favorite color? What’s your favorite foreign language? Your favorite musical style? Your favorite franchise… etc.

It would help to know if you like serious names, fanciful names, names to role play by., etc. Asking for names without giving any sort of hint means you are unlikely to get a name you can use.

Just think of something that’s pleasing for now, because you’ll eventually get the urge to change it (name change contract). I change names every few to several months and looks nearly every few weeks to each month.

On this game its hard staying with one look or name for any long period of time.
But choose out a theme you think stands out the most and go by that, usually how I go about it.

A particular name I thought was funny was Wrong Clone, but I like names with an elegant ring to ’em too.

Isn’t it amazing how you can think of loads of names when you’re typing in a forum thread, and yet, the moment you make your new char and go to enter a name, every kitten name you’ve ever thought of goes clean out of your head and you’re just – blank – lol

I like to use the site babynamestats.com to help think of names for my characters.

It has an option to search by meaning, so often I think of synonyms or words related to the profession, race or style of my character.

For example, for Mesmer I think of: Butterfly, Purple, Violet, Magic, Mind

Sometimes I find two names I like and pair them up for a first name and a surname. Often I find a first name on that website, then use google translate to find a surname that compliments the first name by translating the key words into different languages.

It doesn’t necessarily matter if the names you end up with mean what they’re “meant” to mean. As long as you like how it sounds and reads, its great. I just find this method works the best for when I’m stuck for ideas, as its a good starting point with plenty of directions to head in.

Not that this will be a lot of help, but I named my (human female) mesmer after my GW1 main, who was also a mesmer.

More to the point, I’d try to find a name that, as Crimson Clouds suggests, reminds of the traits of a GW mesmer. The patron goddess of mesmers is Lyssa, goddess of beauty and illusion, so you might look for a name that suggests those two traits, as well as charm, seductiveness and mystery.
