Champions of the Unfought.
There is a champ skelk above a camp (the one that has a bank and tp npc) in mount maelstrom
Is there now? I might go up there and get a pic of that, eventually.
Anywho, next up: The Champion Risen Drake Broodmother.
While this one was in the Cursed Shore, there are at least one each in Malchor’s Leap, Straits of Devastation, and even one in Caledon Forest. (was a veteran, but got buffed)
They are all tied to dynamic event chains, and used to be one of the easier champions to fight. But with the buffs these things have gotten (able to summon many hatchlings, a charge attack it can spam and leaving toxic AoE wherever it charges, annoyingly short leash range), these things are avoided from now on even with the new champion loot boxes.
Sorry Rakkan, but you’re staying kidnapped.
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
Another Champion of Orr: The Champion Risen Vigil Tactician.
This one is special in that it has 3 different forms it can take:
Human variant: Basically a Champion Risen Preserver. Lots of AoE geysers and those water projectiles..I think.
Charr variant: A Charr thrall with the moveset(and hitboxes!) of a Champion Risen Abomination.
Asura variant: Lots of Chaos Storms, can shoot purple scepter projectiles, basically the closest thing to a Champion Risen Ravager right now. (As of now, we have never seen a Champion Risen Ravager..hopefully it stays that way.)
The asura variant is pictured below. I’ll try to photo the other 2 eventually.
The Blood Witch in Kessex Hills (although occasionally the zerg there can be cajoled into taking her down)
The Krait Witch in Caledon Forest
Champion Ketsurak in Gendarran Fields (this guy just builds up to 25 stacks of Frenzy and then one-shots anyone in his path!)
Champion Branded Fish in Fields of Ruin (maybe people really hate underwater combat?)
And of course, the Champion Karka in the karka nest in Southsun Cove. Since the Rich Vein there was nerfed, nobody bothers taking him on anymore. XD
Next up. The Champion Risen Giant. No, not the one at Arah, the one just pacing back and forth a ways west of the village of Ewan. Basically the same as the Veteran variant, only more HP, more grubs, and more annoying to fight.
I’ve seen people fight it once or twice, but it just tends to be ignored most of the time I see it, even now. Although, I understand why.
Thanks Zaxares for pointing all those out. I’d like to see some screenshots from the rest of you though. ^^
Especially since most of my posts will still be covering Orr, at least for now. There are so many! :/
Err, next up: Captain Rotbeard (who actually has no beard, by the way)
He just meanders around the wreck of the ship in Desmina’s Hallows.
“Treasure..devour..” “Ugh…”
I actually went in and tried to fight him, (to see his skills, if nothing else) but between the narrow corridors messing with the camera and all the other Risen, I didn’t really notice him until I died.
There’s a spider queen in Harathi Hinterlands (I think) that is never even spoken of anymore. Mostly that’s due to the fact that the spider heals if it touches any walls, which is freaking impossible because it’s located in a cave. I think this is a bug that Anet has yet to fix and it’s been there since beta. I literally sat on a rock for 2 hours spamming that the spider queen was up and nobody showed. That’s when I knew it was completely pointless.

the spider queen full healing is not a bug, it’s her mechanic, each time she loses 25% of her max hp, she heals herself as well as summon little spiders. her encounter is basically a dps race because of her timer.
speaking of harathi, no one does Kol anymore.
we have to do things others may qualify as “evil”.

You’re referring to Gargantula. Yep, that heal gimmick is so annoying, and she can do it 2/3 times, just dragging out the fight purposely for the time limit.
Next for the Champions of Orr: The Champion Risen King (a.k.a Cursed Shore’s Eye of Zhaitan)
“Hey, want to go on an adventure?”
“No. Your idea of an adventure is going into a tomb with a Lyssa statue dropping chaos storms on you, and triggering a champion with ancient Orrian lasers that take off half my HP and put 15 stacks of vulnerability on me. Meanwhile, you’ll be dead the whole fight.”
Best of all, there’s a channeling skill point there, good luck getting it while this jerk is up without stealth or being lucky.
Not pictured below: Said Eye is actually shooting me through the floor I’m on. Because someone thought bosses should be able to do that.
From SBI:
There’s a Champion Icebrood Quaggan in Frostgorge near the SE corner. I rarely see people try that one out.
There’s a Champion Deep Sea Shark in Bloodtide Coast, which nobody used to do. Also the Orrian Terror.
Kessex Hills has the Champion Bandit Foreman, though he is incredibly annoying to fight and at the end of a bunch of DEs.
Lornar’s Pass has quite a few Champions around, including “Champion Steam Commander” if the Steam Incursion events fail all the way.
There are some Vanguard/Charr vs Ogre events in the southeast corner of Blazeridge Steppes which have two Champions in the chain and a chest at the end.
There’s a Branded champion in Iron Marches (Victurus the Shattered). NEVER seen anyone trying to take him.
Next up. The Champion Risen Giant. No, not the one at Arah, the one just pacing back and forth a ways west of the village of Ewan. Basically the same as the Veteran variant, only more HP, more grubs, and more annoying to fight.

??? This is one of the most killed champions in the game, as it’s part of the Cursed Shore champion farm rotation (Archmage, Baron(ess), Giant, Scorpion, Shark).
What about the Giant Devourer that spawns north of Ebonhawke in the Fields of Ruin? I rarely ever see ppl at that one. Recently tried to solo it on my ele (and ended up with two other ppl at the end) though it took near 10 min of kiting (got a nice drop though).
Also, OP mentions Champ Ravagers. I sincerely hope I never encounter one cause just one Vet (at Shelter) can ruin my day.

Oooh, is that quaggan the one near the Vigil camp, or another one elsewhere?
The one near that Vigil camp sometime gets beaten, since the new loot boxes.
Again, thanks for all the feedback, especially for ones in other zones. I’ll be stuck on Orr champions a little longer.
Speaking of which…
Champion YF-Gold Golem.
This one is the result of failing an event where you try to stop Inquest from draining the orb on the Pyrite Peninsula in Malchor’s Leap to power an experimental golem shell. (I have never failed the event personally, but I’m certain failing it causes the Champion to spawn.)
It’s basically a beefed up Mark II golem with spread missiles, but is still simple to deal with once you know how it acts. Still, I only ever saw anyone fight it once..while I was already soloing it.
@Waar Kijk Je Naar: Oh, really? Sorry about that. The ones I list are ones that seem to be rarely/never fought from my own observations. Since I’m just on one server and don’t guest much, for all I know they’re getting slaughtered on all the other servers, or on my own server when I’m not around.
@JudgeD: Yep, I’ve seen that Branded Devourer. Fought it once, with one or two others, basically circle strafing the whole fight shooting it to death. And all I mentioned about Champion Ravagers is that the Risen Vigil Tactician (asura variant) seems to be equivalent to that. Like you, I hope to never see an actual Champion Risen Ravager. Regular ones and veterans are already a pain.
Next up: Malchor’s Leap Eye of Zhaitan.
Same as the before-mentioned Champion Risen King, except this one patrols the King’s Passage and doesn’t have a trigger event to my knowledge. It just appears seemingly when it wants to. Although, there’s a much worse champion that can show up when it’s not around…
The Branded Devourer isn’t too difficult to kill, actually. All you need to do is kite it in a circle with a ranged weapon, since it likes staying at a distance and hurling rocks at you, which you can easily outrun with a 25% speed boost, or just dodge out of the way. The most annoying thing is when nearby monsters spawn and attack you (although the Devourer usually one-shots them with its AoE attack soon after).
The Champion Bandit Foreman in Kessex Hills used to be unpopular, but nowadays if he’s up, the zerg will take him down too because of the new Champ loot. They still stay away from the Blood Witch though. XD
What about champion loot increasing (or decreasing) the longer (shorter) it stays up? What I’m saying that like EXP people should be rewarded for doing champions that aren’t usually killed!
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

Like the inverse of our diminishing returns algorithm? I like that.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Is the krait witch in kessex a champ? I have never seen anyone do this event, not ever. Must be the underwater and all the annoying conditions.
I managed to complete it once, simply by constantly annoying people in map chat till they gathered! She hits like a truck and even with 10-15 players we had casualties…not to mention the fight isn’t exactly exciting.
@PixelPumpkin
Kind of. If you don’t know, we already have something similar, only for exp. The longer a mob stays around, the more exp it gives when it’s killed. Doing the same for champion loot would make the “hidden” or “hard” events more rewarding. At the same time, I’d suggest lowering the loot of champions freshly spawned to limit their farming (but I’m gonna get a lot of flak for that).

That would be something smart. Or lower the quality of the box based on the amount of time the champion was alive. Start with nothing, then white then upgrade it with each passing minutes. That way less people will mindlessly zerg and instead they’ll dispatch through out the world.
Even if someone makes a huge route going across zones to quickly farm them, it would be more fun than trying to hit an invisible foe.

This champ is part of the champion farm rotation and is getting farmed like crazy. At least on Desolation.

Victurus is fun, especially since you need to pick off his army before you kill him.
Another one in Iron Marches is the Champ Branded Devourer Queen deep in the infestation. No PoIs or anything actually IN the nest where the queen spawns, plus the pre-event escort of the siege devourer always seems to bug out.
How about Xolotl in Caledon Forest?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_Xolotl
When you’re anywhere in the Quetzal Bay area, he constantly spams the same dialogue. But when you start fighting him, he transforms everyone into various animals, which is annoying as hell. No one ever bothers to fight him, unless they are really annoyed by his dialogue.

Wow…one of the coolest looking fights in GW2. I have to check this out.
Shame a lot of these go unnoticed and/or untouched.

This one is not unfought.. This is one of the champs in the popular farm train. I kill it like… every 2 minutes

Watch for his jump animation. If you dodge while he’s in the air you won’t be transformed. The last time I fought him he didn’t drop a champ chest for me, just the normal event chest (I guess it’s because he doesn’t actually die?)

Also, going into the water allows you to transform back.
He didn’t drop a champ chest for me either. Seemed like a lot of work for nothing, because he does put up quite a bit of a fight.

Glad I’m not the only one then. And yes, kiting with a staff ele is a viable way to kill
the Giant Devourer.
Does anyone ever try the ogre Chief in the SE corner of Fields of Ruin? I’ve only done it twice, once solo on eng and once on ele (called for help in mapchat). He seems to up quite often in the times I’ve been in the area (for the ogre vineyard).

The Champion Ogotl Priestess in Brisban Wildlands just SW of the vista that you have to get to through Skrittsburg Center. I haven’t seen anyone in many times visiting
Err, next up: Captain Rotbeard (who actually has no beard, by the way)

You don’t have to fight him there. In fact I don’t recommend fighting him there. Pull him to the deck of the ship. You can pull him there without much issue and I just realized this while writing this post but a mob’s leash range probably ignores the Z axis. If found with multiple people he will also generally go after whoever is dealing the most damage.

If I remember right, this guy is real easy to melee. He’s only seems to be able to attack ranged targets. Get underneath him and it get super easy.
Anywho, champion bump!
The Champion Risen Baron/Baroness (Noble)
That one at the skill point in Gallow’s Hang. Back before the change, no one tried to kill this thing, it’s much easier to sneak around it, kill the jester, then get the skill point and get out. And even with the change, I don’t think many would try fighting it now.
Are you just listing champs or what?
Both the Baron and the Giant were farmed extensively during anchorage farm.

The Champion Risen Megalodon, in the water just west of Shipwreck Rock Waypoint. A poor lady was shipwrecked by it and shall never rest in peace.

Well, like I said, I don’t ever see anyone fight them often, if at all..I’m just on one server, so I can’t really say anything for the others..
Anywho, here’s a pic of the Charr version of the Risen Vigil Tactician.

Ooooh, this one? Pretty sure no one goes after this thing. It picked a great hiding spot.
I fought and killed it to find out it was part of a dynamic event to kill it before it escaped…to where, I have no idea. It pretty much is just a regular skelk with champion stats, no special attacks or anything, so a relatively easy fight compared to other champions.
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
Ugh. Tired of Orr. Let’s look elsewhere. Southsun Cove, maybe? Or are there champion hunters there too?
There’s a random champion ram in the Krongar Pass portion of Timberline Falls, SW of the Kyesjard PoI and up on the cliffs. Unfortunately, he’s not guarding anything.
Found another one in Snowden Drifts, not sure if he gets hunted much. To be fair, it is a Lv15-25 zone..
I would love if they put someone on going through and adjusting the rewards for these champ mobs slightly depending on just how hard they are.
“The Blood Witch in Kessex Hills (although occasionally the zerg there can be cajoled into taking her down)”
I’ve soloed it on my ranger and if I’m around I help newbies complete their quest. A tough boss for a low level group but doesn’t need a zerg.

this champ is in the rotation list on Blackgate CS champs farm while waiting for the pact to move towards shank anchorage…. heavily farmed there…
Archeage = Farmville with PK
Yeah, I decided to stop pointing out the Orr ones for now because apparently most of them get beaten now that they give the loot boxes.
Right. Back again. Here’s another one, this time in Gendarran Fields. A Champion Cave Troll just standing around in the snowy caves in the far southeastern part of the zone. Still, I could be wrong and people might actually fight this thing. But I’m not sure, since it is tucked away rather well.
And, not too far from there, a Champion Cave Spider guarding a Rich Iron Vein. This one’s near the vista around there, so it is easier to find. Still, not sure if people would go out of their way to hunt this one.
Our first listing: A Champion Risen Spider in Sparkfly Fen.
That thing is nasty, I wandered in while mapping on a warrior, I didn’t initially realize that it was a champ. A few seconds later and I was immobile and the hatchlings were snacking on me. No condition remover meant I died very quickly
