so the patch did not fixed the drop rates? and yet nobody @ Anet will write something here…but in other threads they can? Well tbh they just lost me as a customer and a player… I just bought a sub for Rift yesterday. GL guys.

ps. if they fix this, I will maybe return to the game.

I have recently bought Max Payne 3 under sale, and AC3 and haven’t yet played them. I love GW2, and still try to have fun, right now by leveling my alts. But when I go back to Orr for farming, I just logoff with disappointment after spending my limited time after a hectic busy day only to get junk. So yes I bought quite a lot of gems to convert to gold since I want shinies as well. But is it how this game is basically meant to be paid? I can pay for 4 months for a sub-based game with that same amt. I am just baffled how quick they nerf Dye drops or fix dungeons where people skipped certain stuff, but takes ages to even respond to a widely well known basic issue in the game. And when they do, they’ll have this tone that the decreased rate is only perceived. Sure they need to see for themselves, only that they don’t. If its so easy to nerf drops, its as easier to increase them as well. I get equally lesser number of drops in lower level areas on my alts, as I do on level 80 areas. I don’t fight through 100’s of undead that keep shouting “Death…good” to get porous bones!

Nothing changed looks like fractals of the mist is actually cleverly abbreviated (fotm) or should we say “flavour of the month” outside loot not fixed, monthly quest forcing us to do this, players dropping like flies from the game unless they are teleport bots or in fotm

Some response now to the biggest thread would be nice from a dev to stop us all waiting and leaving the game.

beginning to think the staff here are from swtor layoffs because this game is sinking like that ship did in the same amount of time. 3 more months and it will be fully ftp and charge us to unlock zones and character levels with gems from the store

Last few days I have been playing a lot less because of this bug. I get on, do my gathering runs, play a little in cursed shore or WvW, see the low amount of loot and switch off disheartened at the low reward for my efforts compared to a month ago.

Until a month ago I used to preach to all the haters over guru forums that Anet does listen and is community friendly. I stopped doing it since Last Shores happened. First I’m treated like a 3rd class person as I don’t play during PST, and come from Asia. Then they mess up drop rates and don’t even fix it after ages of outrage. Like many haters usually say, maybe it’s true… maybe its just that “they got your money and they don’t care anymore”.

I don’t think ANet understands how this bug is hurting them and the community. I have plenty of time to play, so much so that at times I have pulled all nighters just playing. But when I get on, knowing I am going to hit the loot wall this bug has created, regardless of whether I grind in cursed shore or try to level up one of my low level characters, I get disheartened. I might play a little but the end result is that I will let out a sigh, go oh well, and switch off and play games on my iPhone, or watch random youtube vids instead.

The lowering of rewards for my time in the game compared to when I started playing is not only noticeable, it is game blocking because it makes it harder to level up characters, it makes it harder to get resources, it makes it harder to make coin, it makes it harder to customise characters, it makes it harder to enjoy the game.

Noticeably lower rewards = less enjoyable game. You would not enjoy your job as much if you had to take a pay cut and have to work harder. That is what’s happened here.

It says something when the reward for completing a map is more than the sum total of clearing the map, even when you can’t use any of it.
It is all very well to make dungeons attractive but really, people who do dungeons are doing them already, some of us are not interested and rather want to play in the world the devs spent years creating.
If this game is to appeal to all types of players something will have to be done.
Many of us have been playing in the open world since 15 Nov patch and it has not all been smooth going with players being sucked into FoTM, this loot bug (and I DO call it a bug) is making it even harder to just enjoy the game for what it is.
Playing for fun is my main ambition, it is not fun when you can’t break even.

I think it is vitally important that you all keep firmly in mind that this is in no way a bug.
The current pattern that loot scaling has followed through the initial bot flourish (which stayed in it’s heavily infested state despite much player outrage for some time before suddenly being ‘attended to’) whilst the ‘unfortunately necessary dr changes’ were instigated in reaction to the large bot population, through to what we have had now since Lost Shores in terms of heavily reduced loot/materials, is no absolutely no way accidental, or a by-product of poor coding or haphazard mistakes.
Bots served their purpose, and will continue to do so through these current and pending cycles that are proceeding quite according to the plan, sadly enough.

Guys, make a check. Either I am on a lucky streak (for the first time in several weeks) or they fixed something. It started with my friend getting loot in WvW – of the quantity and quality of “before the patch”. I immediately came along, got one rare and a hearty mix of other drops. I went to Plinx, made it in time to kill the last wave – bam! – a rare. I am going to try again now, wish someone can test it too to exclude it being just an RNG.

Try that in PVE…you’ll see what we’re talking about when you get there, oh and be sure to have 250% mf on otherwise you won’t see a thing.

I see what you are saying but I hope you are wrong. I have never been affected by DR since I do not farm but play the map. I have seen a significant loot drop since the 15 Nov patch and not before.
I liked the fact that there where less bots and that materials where more expensive simply because I could actually make money crafting by using what I collected and finding a wanted item on the TP to craft. The drops I had, I sold or salvaged to finance my own goals.
The problem now is that no-one in the open world gets decent drops anymore.
This may very well discourage botting but it impacts the actual player to such a degree that it becomes difficult to play the game.
This is compounded by the fact that dungeon drops are not affected and everyone I know who plays FoTM claims that it rains loot from the skies.
This is not right.

I am aware of the problem being mostly open-world based. But it did effect WvW too, so when I`ve seen that my friend started to actually getting drops I immediately jumped in. Later I went to Cursed Shore and got like 6 rares in an hour before new build made me restart my client. After I logged in, I played for 2 or 3 hours, done Plinx, Penitent and full Arah chain, from pre-wp liberation to the door opening – as I stated I got nothing. I have no idea what that was or how to reproduce it. Wish I could. Before that lucky streak I played for 3-4 hours every day since the patch and got 4 rares overall (in all this time! like, two weeks?) in open-world and WvW both.

So yes, I did try it in PVE. Extensively so. (As for MF I have 5 sup traveller+1 sup pirate on armor, exo opal jewels, backbrace with mf (don`t remember how much though) and 30% mf food, plus clan banner). Guess you didn`t read my posts in this thread, as I clearly stated that I was hit by that bug and haven`t seen normal drop since the patch.

I was merely commenting on what you said, wasn’t meant as an attack on you at all. Sorry if it sounded that way.

The concern for most of us is this is happening outside the dungeon FotM in PVE which is where the majority of the farming occurs for anything and that’s what I was commenting on.

Adding my two cents. I also feel that loot has been nerfed.

I also am very concerned that the only way to get good loot is to run high level fractals. Personally, while I play the game a lot, I can rarely commit to having dedicated time to run a dungeon (even just 1 hour).

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

Color me deranged, but something is fishy about loot. I got an exotic from the the temple of Grenth event. Not from the chest or the champion, but from a trash mob. I filled my bags with blues and greens, got lots of collectibles and four rares I salvaged into ectos. Meanwhile a friend of mine, running in my group and with full magic find gear like I, got hardly anything at all. He never gets anything actually. Its not diminishing returns since our play time and patterns are almost identical. Why is he cursed?

I’m also disappointed that trash mobs are more profitable than taking the time to down stronger foes, like champions. The chests should be guaranteed to drop rares or better, and T6 crafting matts. Make them loot-able daily if need be (like the Halloween chests were after the patch). Because right now, any event that spawns hordes of mobs is worth doing, but the final bosses aren’t. (unless your compulsive obsessive hoping to win the lottery with a precursor in a chest.. good luck with that).

I am in the same boat. Full MF set (armor + weapons + jewelry) with food buff I have not gotten much compared to before the Nov 15 path. I got few rares, and mostly white or blue items. Champs in Cursed Shores have dropped mostly nothing and it’s really not worth trying to kill them.

Anet needs to come clean and admit what has been changed, ignoring this and mother threads about this topic is wrong on their part.

This problem is also present in dungeons, no rares at all apart from green/blues in all pre-FotM dungeons.

FotM loot is also ridiculous, 2 vials, 1 exotic, 0 Agony res rings, and a couple of rares here and there, not to mention that its already past boring.

As for the rest of the PvE content, loot is always crap; apart from that oddball once in a month moment.

Best thing to do? Talk with your wallet. I’ve been doing that for a month and I’m determined to keep doing that. Any business needs income, once that starts drying up you can be sure that we’ll see more customer satisfaction.

While I certainly can’t say whether or not the drop rate has changed. Hubby and I never get the same drop rates. Example – both of us have the same level character (level 30) and play together. After a 4 hour session, he received 8 green drops to my 1. I didn’t even get that many “blues”. Although that particular outing was extreme, his account, 75% of the time gets better drop rates than I do. I’m not sure why that is, but no matter which professions we are playing (we have one of each). He usually gets better/more drops than I. Since we’re a “team” I end up getting use of any items he can’t, so I don’t feel too bad when I have a really bad drop day. So long as one of is getting good drops, we’re happy.

I keep getting more and more aware of how aggressively they are playing hardball with us. Their words are saying “we’d love to have you in our magical innovative world” but their actions are saying “We’re going to make this game harder and harder on you until we get every cent possible from you until you quit”.

They may even have a fix ready for us but delayed implementing it because it is shifting the economy in the direction they want it to, and don’t want to stop it yet.

Its really hard starting out in this game now – im fairly new just over 4 weeks, i know your first character in any MMO shouldnt be rolling in cash but ive just hit 70 and am poor
- add in the lack of groups in the open world to do harder events/champs/vets with and this loot nerf and the market going crazy so good armor is now 3 times the price it was and i just dont see how people that wernt in for the initial ‘gold rush’ will manage.

Just had another an email from Wow offering me 10 days free play time in MOP, shocked that im so dissapointed here im considering it – its soul destroying to have fairly weighty charges for WP and death and to get bugger all money and loot when out and about.

Told my sister to not buy it for my niece for xmas.

I wouldn’t be surprised. As you note, they have had a campaign of nerfing rewards into the ground ever since they started implementing DR.

The really weird thing about the current nerfed rare drop rate is that the patch that implemented it claimed to have increased the rare/exotic drop rates.

I wonder if the notes were intentional saying the drop rate was increased, then they went and (heavily) nerfed the rate. Then after everyone complains they can simply put it back to the pre-patch levels (without increasing it like the notes say) and say “we’ve increased the rare drop rate” again.

It could just be luck, but I noticed significantly better drops this morning than I’ve seen in the past couple of weeks. I didn’t get any more green/yellow/golds drops, but I saw a drastic increase in the number of dropped crafting materials. Could just be luck, though.

Also, since they never admitted that the reduced drop rate was a bug in the first place, they’re probably never going to announce when it is fixed. Make sure to look at loot you get an a per-session basis and evaluate if it’s still as bad as it has been. If they did increase the drop rate, and we all still complain about it being bad, we hurt our credibility for detecting changes of this type “moving forward”.

I’d rather regret something I’d done than regret doing nothing.

It doesn’t mean anything for certain of course but could be the end of the bad drop rate. No patch announcement though, but maybe that’s because they’d have to admit they did it to announce they undid it.

If I were cynical, I would wonder if there is a connection between gem purchases and in game “luck” except that my luck is no where near proportional to my gem consumption :P

So do I, I am going for Sunrise, and have spent quite a lot of money on gems. Am half way through and was more than excited than ever. Now I don’t feel like farming as much with the time and money spent meaning absolutely nothing against the porous bones I’ve been getting. I DON’T NEED POROUS BONES CRAP! Where’s Anet exactly? Are they just done with the game or busy with Toymaker Tixx, while those of us who actually despise the bugs that come with every major patch cry rivers down here?

I also entered Cursed Shore yesterday with hopes of doing Plinx for atleast farming Karma, and found nobody out there. No Plinx, No Players! Who’d go there anyway when the drop rates are abysmal! I used to get atleast 2 rares per each Plinx run earlier. Now I get a rare per 3-4 days of my overall playtime. Yeah, that’s definitely fun! Also the ‘luck’ factor is ridiculous especially when you invest a lot on MF gear and food and buffs and still get nothing.

so the patch did not fixed the drop rates? and yet nobody @ Anet will write something here…but in other threads they can? Well tbh they just lost me as a customer and a player… I just bought a sub for Rift yesterday. GL guys.

ps. if they fix this, I will maybe return to the game.

I ACTUALLY started thinking about WoW again (swallow gulp) I know o m g. I couldn’t believe it myself I was thinking, “oh god! what has this drove me to?!”

It might be a tad melodramatic but that’s exactly how i feel now when i login. I can’t even level my ranger (which i had no issues doing when loot was good btw.)

Trying to lighten the mood with this attachment.

My theory is that they wanted to nerf drops a bit, but decided to take the route of nerfing them to the ground temporarily so when they buff it back to somewhat-below-original values, the playerbase will either not notice the net drop, or be satisfied with the increased loot relative to the absolutely terrible rate we’re getting now.
