If champion loot was fixed it’d give that much of an incentive to go out and kill large mobs. if they’d have good chances for rares, that could fix the drop rate a bit

You know what this sad story of drops ninja nerf and artificially inflated gems gold value teached me?

My first reaction to the obvious induction of players to buy gems to trade for gold was to stop buying gems.
So I play the game now without spending 1 cent in gems.

I play it in a very relaxed way, never worried about getting anything from drops. I do not have any aim to achieve because getting legendary in the present state of drops nerf is impossible unless you open your wallet and waste hundreds of dollars/euros.

So, I play 1 or 2 hours and logoff. Its more of a relax therapy than competitive gaming towards any objective. With time I will start to spend some days without logging in and, when a new good game comes out, I will leave GW2 for good.

The big lesson from all of this is that the gem shop is completely useless.

We can enjoy the game without buying anything from the gem shop. Try to do it and tell me what you feel. I feel good..:)

Thanks and best regards,

Red

I’m away on business this week so it’ll be a good break for me from the game since it has been several frustrating weeks coming back over and over to see if they bothered to respond.
The worst part of all this is that they have given us no real forum to voice our concerns, since they pick and choose what they wish to respond to and ignore the rest.

It’s really sad that we still don’t have a response. I’m almost done with all of my University work for this Term and pretty soon I’ll be able to play much more than 2-3 hours a day. All of this is making me consider playing something else just because it is so unrewarding and frustrating to play this game at the moment..

With the ninja loot reduction basically our TIME has been devalued because now you need much more playing time to achieve the same results you achieved before 15th November.

Moving on…..

Well guys I am moving on, this game and the developers have taken too many backward steps for me. An MMO is something you invest in (at least in my opinion), you either invest time and get reward, or you invest money (and therefore less time, for the same reward). When I saw that you could buy gold through the transfer system, I was so pleased. It gave me choices, I could play 20 hours one week, and 2 the next, but either through real world transactions or accumulating in-game wealth, I could remain on a par with about 80% of the population.

Accumulating in-game wealth through time spent has now disappeared with the reduced drop rates and DR. Yet prices are rising? Why? Well some people at the start of the game, took advantage of the out of control botting and bought up everything in sight. Now those few have monopolized the market and the funny thing is, they arent players.

The TP system is a gold sellers dream (at least the unofficial one), why has gold price vs gems increased if the economy is being squeezed, it doesnt make sense, or does it? Gold sellers can manipulate the TP, by utilizing the abundance of wealth they made during their botting stage to buyout whole product lines in the TP and manage the price of those items. If they keep the cost of their “unofficial” gold lower than the official transfer system, then they can sell on the black-market. They profit twice, once by selling the gold for real cash, then by receiving the gold back when the buyer of said gold, goes on to buy their overpriced monopolized materials in the TP (creating a trading cycle)

When I first started playing gem/gold transfer was about 60s per 100 gems now you get over 1gp easily, but why? Why when there is nothing in the gem shop to buy?

because Christmas is coming, sorry I dont buy that at all. The amount of gems received for gold is being manipulated by the developer, because they know that gold sellers have monopolised the market and the only way to commbat this is to lower the “real cash price” of gold to that similar to the black-market. Tin foil hat time eh? You need to spend more time in game (or flip trading) to earn the same amount of gems you did at the start or release. Again, no sense, if the drop rates are awful, surely the price of gems should be dropping, as more people trade gems for gold to buy the material they need, the price of gold to gems should go down and not up.

What are people using these gems for, boxing gloves? The current price of gems to gold in the market place would indicate that there was a “unhealthy” amount of gold in-game, i.e. we were all super wealthy, but this is a 16 page thread about us all being poor and tired of farming for nothing/no reward.

So two theories

1. The developers have manipulated the gem to gold transfer price to make it more appealing to transfer real money into in-game currency or
2. Less people are buying gems (meaning there is a shortage) and people really want those gems (traders speculating on winters day events no doubt (after the Halloween chest debacle))

Either way it doesn’t matter. We bought the box, we played the game. But most importantly we bought the box, on a no-sub game, that’s where the developer was going to make the most money. Each “expansion” will be released with a big “hoo-ha”, we will buy it because drop rates will have increased in the month or so before it, and then after purchase, drop rates will be nerfed again, because the box has been bought.

The gold price doesnt make sense in the current economy of GW2, unless the developers are aware of the TP being manipulated by third party companies, nerfing drop rates is a pain, but what they may be trying to do is to take away the source of large amounts of currency by reducing the amount of items for sale on the TP (but this will take a very long time), so that they, the developer, can regain control.

The rampaging bots that occurred in this game at the start, will have repercussions on the economy for the next 6 months, we are being asked (without it being made explicit) for us to “suck-up” these painful low drop rates and DR for a while, whilst the developer gets things back on track and “normalizes” the economy. You will see nothing official, no developer will post in this thread, but the truth is, I haven’t met one single player in the game, that claims to be abundantly wealthy, yet people are “giving” gold away at 50% lower prices (according to the gem market), why is that?

Please note, you are entitled to disagree with me, I hope you do, and I hope you don’t see what I seem to see, I just can’t make sense of an economy which now requires more of one resource (gold) to buy the things you need because those resources are diminishing and yet the price of the one primary resource (gold), is getting lower……….. If you can explain this to me, please do

noticed the last few days (beginning of a new month maybe?) loot from mobs seems to be much higher than it has been for the last month. Wondering if the DR thingy is totally bugged and has reset this month.

perhaps the drops will suck in a week or 2 again if they do for me then the DR is capped at a total monthly limit perhaps or just screwed up.

My biggest concern is the devs havent responded to this huge! thread with any solid answers, yet they are monitoring it as I had a post or two removed for using their brand name out of context apparently

The last couple of days has seemed better to me especially in the crafted material drops.
I see a lot of greens and blues in addition to the useless trophies, no rares though.

I have been leveling alts and has not set foot in Orr on my main since just after the Karka event.
Then again since it is luck it is probably meaningless- just thought I’d check in here.
No reply huh?

Ahhh Skyrim… Great great game that.

I’d even recommend Far Cry 3 if you like a good single player open world RPG from a 1st person view. It’s no Skyrim, but still fun.

I actually re-installed Skyrim last night because I can’t face playing GW2 anymore, there are no rewards for doing so for me, at all.

After spending a couple of hours getting all my mods installed again and tweaking ini’s, I didn’t use the Map Travel for about the first hour because I didn’t want to pay the waypoint costs. Then it hit me

I’m 99.9% sure my brother is getting me FC3 for Christmas. Apparently it has co-op and he loves it.

I spent a lot of time on the weekend playing through Orr with my ele, enough to get map completion in one zone. I was surprised how little loot everything dropped, to a point of frustration. I solo’d some event chains 5+ times to try to make progress and received very little, no rares over the entire weekend. Even soloing event bosses/champions and received very little, most of the time junk. I don’t think this would be heavily influenced by DR as I took quite large breaks, though the time over 3 days was considerable. I noticed though when I did events in lower levels (there’s a couple I do for fun every day when possible) the rewards were a lot higher…

Sick of how pointless it seemed I decided to level up my mesmer (currently level 55) in level 30+ zones that I hadn’t explored yet. I was surprised how high the drop rate was – within an hour I had nearly more greens that I got over the entire weekend from drops in Orr. There was a lot less junk, more whites but salvageable stuff is still useful. And this is with no magic find – while when I was moving through Orr I normally had 30+ on, though tested without this – the only difference magic find seemed to make was finding more black lion chests. I did one event in a lower level zone which the veteran boss dropped both a green and blue – at the same time. It actually was a slight sense of accomplishment for a change…

So I am wondering if the drops have been applied just to Orr? Or more appropriately, risen? Could this be a bug as a result of nerfing plix or other events (can’t recall exactly which ones)? Veterans seem to more consistently drop outside of Orr, I haven’t tested champions yet (Queensdale Cave Troll, prepare yourself). Both the frequency and quality seems much higher.

So if anyone has time to test, want to try different zones with a level 80 character to see whats going on? Both with and without magic find. Maybe if we can isolate the exact issue Anet will pay more attention – and if not it will still be easy to tell people the downside of trying to farm those areas and potentially bring enough attention to the issue so Anet will need to act or risk damaging their reputation. I need to sleep now, will investigate sometime tomorrow hopefully.

Edit; has anyone tried farming Karka land? Not sure if there is any point, but it could be a good indicator of whats going on.

Asuka, I’m sorry to dissapoint you, but it’s not just Orr.
Many people (including me) noticed a severe lack of lootdrops on their alts while leveling them. The past 4 weeks it is impossible to get them level-appropiate gear by just playing the game (and without heavily using TP).
So, it’s not just Orr and it’s not just high levels.
It seems the only way to get any decent lootdrops atm is by grinding grinding grinding FotM.

Perhaps it IS them trying to get the TP under control, as DevonPaul theorizes. If this is the case, they really need to let the player community know what’s going on. A lot of players are feeling extremely alienated by this issue and ANets silence is only fueling the fire. Until then, my opinion is that the loot issue isn’t a bug or they would have acknowledged it by now…it’s dirty business…nothing more.

Guys is quite simple, quit complain. If they didn’t listen to us, just let them know in some post that is not here, signed by players who agree and stop play. We make a post in some site, so they cannot delete it, and copy past it here. All players who want to sign it, and stop play unless things change. Is the only way to repay them for their missing of respect not listen to us, not respond to us, who bought game, who bought gems, who support them. Simple as that. World is full of mmo, and i don’t feel as a customer to be threated this way. This is not a flame post, not trolling or such. I love this game but i don’t like to be cheated. That’s the only eay to let them know they are wrong in this. Or if you don’t, stop complain and play the game as it is. There is no need to another who wrote " omg i notice too it was a nerf" after 15 pages, is like that.

As it stands the silence allows for too much tin hat conjecture, a logical reason would put a stop to that and we can take our flaming torches and put them out.

Everyone should be replying on the “bugs” thread, to keep it alive and on the front page of bugs, not this discussion, which probably has very little traffic from ANet staff, other than the forum moderator. “Bugs” is likely the forum that is most closely monitored by ANet and most often visited by players. Only two pages of posts there, but still no reply, which is still obscene. I’d like to see this discussion merged in to the bug as that’s where it properly belongs, but that would make ANet look very bad.

1.if they plan to nerf several tanks income, they’ll POST it in detail in their future patch notes.
2.they even purposedly introduced the “increase income details if u buy premiums window” in battle details.
3.if u wanna grind cash, u’ll have to buy $50-$60 premium tanks (yes its one tank not a one new game)
4.at least when u spend real money for buying gold there its not based on any RNG

I appreciate that it is just an opinion, but would have to note that if that were the case at hand, we would not have so many reported instances of people stating quite clearly that their characters are totally out-leveling their received rewards during the course of the game.

Ooo forgot to thank Phaneo for the trip down recent memory lane there with the design manifesto.
Such lofty and noble intentions so they were, and I don’t doubt coming into 2012 they were quite well on target, sadly enough.
Personally, I have been reminding myself of late that Guild Wars 2 will still be here in a year or two, after the milking of the populace by their new taskmasters is complete, and the parasites will depart.
Perhaps then ArenaNet, sufficiently left to their own devices, can show us what they had intended for us.

That’s all its going to take for me to delete every character i have and throw this game in the trash bin after nearly 700 hours.

I like my business to be clean and honest and most importantly, to know the rules of the deal UPFRONT

Some may call me crazy to be taking this so seriously but let me ask you this. How comfortable do you feel going for something that was passed to you as one thing and then changed to another without any notice?

I am all in for supporting a company that provides a great game, but one that deliberately skewing my options, leading me to the gem store is unacceptable.

Our games aren’t about preparing to have fun, or about grinding for a future fun reward. Our games are designed to be fun from moment to moment.

Um, current loot drop bug means you ARE “grinding for a future fun reward”. If you are leveling this means grinding for better armor than you have (normal play drops used to do this without grinding). If you’re lvl 80 it means grinding (even more) for the stuff required for legendaries.

Well, as I’ve already stated in my previous posts, this is my first MMO and I pre-ordered this solely based on the manifesto and reviews from loyal GW1 fans about how great Anet is. While this isn’t the same Anet as a whole, which I understand now, its still disheartening to see a company with such following being defamed by its parent company with such decisions.

Absolutely agree, tho it pains me greatly because I really have nothing else to do as a newly disabled person, this game will not get my time even for the event until this is fixed. I’ve had enough. Can’t play my class and only sigils were reported as being worked on for that. Can’t get drops everyone telling me to do the one thing I shouldn’t have to to progress, dungeons. smh

Well, back then, atleast you knew you’d get some drops off mobs that you kill. As of now, you don’t get a drop at all most of the times, not even those stupid porous bones at times (they even nerfed them I guess). And I’d get 3-4 rares per Plinx run with full MF gear & stuff.

Well, they are counting with WintersDay event to bring back a lot of disappointed players.

But this whole affair is really sad…just plain disrespect for their player base.

There’s no assurance or mention of this bug being fixed in wintersday patch, so I don’t really care what they’re doing until I see some changes in-game and mass acknowledgement by players that things are back to normal.

I agree. Only after things go back to pre-15th November loot drop tables I will be back.

Back to pre-15th November? When their patch notes promised increased drop rates? It’s like having a “25% price reduction” promotion by first increasing the price by 33%.
Sadly, i can believe that it’s what it will end at.

Astralporing,

They said they would increase drops but they did not. Instead they nerfed them. So its no 25% reduction after a 33% increase.

Thanks for the heads up, I think you are right.

Also, testing with my high level character in a lower level zone didn’t help. Killing 5 champions gave no greens and a couple of blues… very rewarding for the time spent.

Possibly it’s better for lower level characters? The algorithms for higher level characters could be messed up.

Hey-Ho Winterswhatever is here in a few days, we only need to ignore you til then and hope it all gets blown over…

Not here, your ignorance to our concerns has done me in, ram this game where the sun dont shine, disgusted in the feedback/customer service to this and the thread in the bugs forum… i know exactly what you think of us now.

Waste more of my time, i think not

I’m really quite shocked that this thread still hasn’t had an official response yet. It is a problem and it needs addressing can someone please respond and confirm/deny that a bug exists within the loot drop rates. Anything is better than silence.. We know Wintersday is coming and it’s been hard working making that content and I’m sure it will be great. But please address this thread.

Its a pitty…this issue is bleeding the game and even if they sort it out many of the players who left will not come back because they feel they have lost content like events and so on while they have been away.

This is very disheartening for players who is leveling. Trying to run around southern Frostgorge Sound with a lvl71 character who have lvl 50-64 gear (lvl58 weapon) is painful and almost imposible.

Svanir are a pain when this happens, they respawn too fast, so you end up not even getting through the gate, just stuck out the front fighting them off, running away to get health back, come back kyte some more. You make no forward progress.

Whats that? That area is for level 72? Well before the loot drop bug I got 3 characters through that area without issue, and all before they were level 72. Infact all 3 of them finished FGS by level 75 and I ended up going back and doing beginner areas to finish leveling them up.

Nerfed drops = Nerfed game progression

Oh, and I can’t do my Level 71 storyline becuase I don’t do enough damage due to my junk weapon, and the undead kill me fast due to my junk armor.

So YES, loot drop bug is blocking progression.

I have submitted a support ticket on this issue in the hope of getting an official response on this issue.

I was going to buy in-game Christmas presents for guild friends, but it looks like that’s out the window now. Between repairing my armour, waypoints, and trying to keep my alts in passable armour (via gold made on my 80), I’m broke.
I was also going to buy another character slot and a few gem store items, but not now.

Not acknowledging this is horrible, what shameful business practice. If I did something like this to my customers, I’d be in deep, deep crap.. Possibly legal trouble. But hey, I’m also not selling millions of copies of anything and I -have- to deal directly with my customers, I can’t just hide behind the scenes when things go sour.

Guys, you need to show a little responsibility and acknowledge whether you screwed up, or if this is an intentional change.
