Changing Ascended Armor Stats
Unlike most other MMOs, the classes in GW2 don’t have ‘fixed’ stats they use. This means your idea would be a nice feature if you want to try out different playstyles. Now, you have to craft/buy another full set of gear to efficiently min/max your new build. I don’t like it. It was even in GW1, but there at least it was super easy to get BiS gear.

Grind armor you mean
I would love the ability to change the stats on my ascended armor, but I don’t think it should be cheap.
What I’d like to see is for Anet to create a slot for the Insignia, which provides the armor with it’s stats, similar to how Runes/Sigils work. If you craft/buy a new insignia you can replace the old one and change the stats. I think this should be possible for all armor though, not just ascended. I’d love to be able to swap insignias on my exotic armor too. For a price of course. As long as I have the option.
Full set of ascended is almost as hard to craft as a legendary (without the stupid precursor gate).
I think it would be fair and would be consistent with their idea of sharing ascended between alts.
IF the armor could be changed then why not change the weapons too? They made them account bound because they saw how “rare” and hard they are to get. What differs from legendary is that you can change the stats, since its even more of a bigger commitment. Just my 2 cents

I have been thinking about something similar. It would be a Mystic Forge recipe your Ascended item, the inscription or insignia for the stats you want, Mystic Clovers (5-10), and 50 Mystic Coins. Throw all that in and out pops your item with changeable stats that you can swap back and forth from. Maybe use a similar recipe to be able to swap between runes or sigils as well.

No I think he meant Legendary armor. Ascended armor is grind armor. Legendary armor I’m sure you will be able to buy on the TP like weapons, thus, no grind.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
It always puzzled me why they didn’t go with this route in the first place. The current implementation of ascended gear locks players into a single spec on a single character.

One of the reasons why Asc Armour/Weapons did not receive as much of a backlash as it could have (it still did, but it could have been worse), is because everyone knew that they only had to make the armour once (for PvE purposes). If most aspects of this game weren’t simply “wear zerk and max damage on everything”, then the costs of fitting armour for multiple purposes would have been far higher.
I’ve never changed my opinion in that Asc gear is needless and horrible for the game, but any change to make gear quality less of an issue is probably a good change. If you want to add new qualities of gear, just as with many things, look back at how GW1 did it (Minor/Major/Superior runes have a tradeoff to balance them: Minor gives +1stat, Major gives +2stat -35HP, Superior gives +3stat -75HP. This means that the highest quality is not strictly superior thus invalidating everything else).
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: All ascended gear should have stat swapping. All ascended gear should have Sigil swapping and Rune swapping. Legendaries should not confer any advantage than they were originally stated to, that is, they should just be a really cool skin and that’s it.
imo armor/weapons shouldn’t have stats and insignias should be equipped like sigils.
Would be nice to get a dev opinion on this… :o)
