Charged Quartz Crystal
I hope you understand having 63 stacks of anything is not normal.
(edited by Mesket.5728)
Charging it means you can no longer sell it. If you aren’t planning to use it, there is no point in charging it as it makes it worthless.
Were you planning to use 63 stacks of quartz crystals for crafting?
30 charged quartz crystals is enough for a full set of celestial armor. I wonder how many sets you are gonna craft with all that
Eternity, The Juggernaut, Kudzu…
As far as I understand, Celestial Gear (armor and weapons) are account bound just like the Charged Crystals.
If there is nothing that takes Charged Crystals that can be sold, then the “1 per day” limit should go.
Just in armor, if you want 12 sets of Celestial armor, that is a year to outfit 12 characters.

I thought the very same thing…. 630 Charged Quartz is a bit…. excessive.
I guess it’s possible to miss if one hasn’t been there when it was introduced. If you bought them to level crafting on the cheap then yeah, you’re out of luck in terms of the speed. Sorry.

“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Except he said 63 stacks, not 630.
Except I said 630 Charged Quartz. Which is what 63 stacks of quartz crystal would come out to. If you must be that person that gets picky on who said what, please target the person I quoted.
What you should do OP, is figure out how much crafting with charged crystals you are planning to do and set those aside. The rest you should put on the trading post. If you don’t want to sell for the current price, figure out a likely price that it will eventually sell for and post it at that.
One stack of days is one year. Let’s be clear on that and move on.

Yeah, sorry. I tried to delete it after thinking about it but wasn’t fast enough.

Aren’t stacks 250? So, it would be 63 × 250? 15,750, maybe? Way too much crystal, lol.
Stack = 250
25 Quartz crystal = 1 Charged Quartz
1 Stack of quartz crystal = 10 Charged Quartz
63 stacks = 630

15,750 quartz / 25 quartz per charge = 630 charged quartz perhaps?
Maybe. Lol. I’m not sure what a stack is in this context. Maybe there are different kinds of stacks in the bank. /shrug
More charged quartz than anyone should ever need.
I’ve made two sets of celestial gear (one exotic & one ascended) and still have 80 charged quartz that I don’t need :P
I always thought the timegating & accountboundness of it was silly but I stopped caring. It would be nice to have the exotic version sellable if the timegating remains. ~shrug~
I wonder if you can charge at other Skill Points to bypass this, anyone confirm?
I hope you understand having 63 stacks of anything is not normal.
^This. 63 stacks? That’s ludicrous!
Why are you guys bantering about minor math mistakes when the real issue is WHY is Charged Quartz still time gated? I get that maybe you shouldn’t be able to convert 630 of them in one sitting, but is 1 / day still needed? How about it get changed to 1 / character / day or maybe 5 / day. Nobody is logging in every day to JUST convert Charged Crystals any longer (except maybe the OP).
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances

That does not work.
They should remove the limit, or up it to 3 a day or something. I was going to craft celestial exotic on my engineer a while back but seeing how much of a waste of time that would be, I just didn’t bother and would wait until ascended gear… in the far, far future.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Assuming you are making every celestial ascended item possible, with duplicates for offhands, you only need (24 weapons)+(18 armor pieces)=42 armor/weapons, 42*5=210 charged quartz, 10 charged quartz per stack = 21 stacks of quartz.
if you are making every possible combination.
I do have 63 stacks. How and why doesn’t matter, my thoughts were, Anet still haven’t planned on the ‘coming’ crafting profession which would come sooner or later.
Since they depar (reverse) me before on crafting materials I just wanted to make sure I had all I could possible charge ^^.. Now I know this amount is ridiculous, and yes, it’s 63stacks of crystals, which is 250 per stack.
Still not getting to my point, why not just charge all we want since they’re account bound still?
I’d like to get a serious answer from a dev or something.. acc bound means no harm, does it?
Have to agree, the time gating makes no sense at all- and comes as a nasty surprise to anyone wanting to craft celestial gear if they didn’t plan ahead- wait a month and you can make some gears!
63 stacks does seem excessive- did you lose a bet to become guild storage of quartz?
So… are you claiming you didn’t KNOW all this when you bought a literal mountain of quartz?
I’m just really vague on why you think the rules should be changed for you.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I’m guessing you hit the nail on the head! Patch Notes or Wiki is your friend, whenever making large (in terms of quantity or cost) purchases.
I suspect the OP bought the Quartz for the same reason I’ve been stockpiling mine; to use as relatively cheap insignia/inscriptions to fuel the journey to 500 crafting.
Probably should have at least tried to fuse them one time during collection?
I wonder if you can charge at other Skill Points to bypass this, anyone confirm?
No, you can’t.
Always research properly before you decide it’s a really good idea to hold on to a ridiculously large quantity of anything. OP is tragic.
A full set of celestial trinkets takes 75 I think, so add that in to how many you need.
I would be happy if you could only make one per place of power a day. I would happily run around to different places.
Ascended trinkets, accessories, rings, can be earned through other means, while Ascended gear in it self takes some effort, Celestial Ascended gear is a LONG process. However, in all honesty. Celestial stats are not very good, they make you a B+ Average student. You are good at everything…. But a master of nothing. I know this, because I run celestial. Why would you want to run Celestial on ALL of your characters? Why not run Celestial, Knight, Zerker, Rampage, you know diversity. Go watch some Death n Taxes video’s they have helpful guides to all kinds of stats.
OR! You can just go run fractals over and over on top of your charged quartz, and get the chance of fractal ascended gear drops! ^.~
First of all, who said I wanted to craft celestial gear?
Second, people blame me now for BUYING them, while I didn’t buy 1 single quartz crystal.
Third, read 1 and 2.
I’m not asking anyone to CHANGE the rules, I just think it’s ludacris to make it possible for players to get such a rediculous amount of them, doesn’t matter in which way, but we can. It’s nuts that we can’t convert them all.
The main reason I held on to the ones I obtained was because I can imagine a future patch where they will be needed in big amounts.
Either way, I know the amount of my quartz is insane, but it’s not changing the situation. 1 quartz per day is nuts.
time gating has to go.
it is a shiaatty mechanic and the developers implementing it should feel ashame for introducing archaic gameplay elements like this
All I want to say is, it’s ACCOUNT BOUND, so why even time gate it?
Either way, I know the amount of my quartz is insane, but it’s not changing the situation.
I disagree. The amount is relevant here. You are an outlier. The amount you have is well outside what can be viewed as typical gameplay. That’s okay, though…there’s nothing wrong with just being an outlier. However, you need to realize this isn’t a sandbox game. The devs don’t have to (and IMO shouldn’t) go out of the way to accommodate you when you decide to take actions like this. If you want to do things that are outside the normal intent of the game then there will likely be tradeoffs—and you found one in this case.
Further, I’ll agree with some of the other posters that a minimal amount of research (there is even a /wiki command in-game) would have at least prevented the surprise of only being able to transmute one charged quartz per day. Really, if you’re going to stockpile or invest in anything you should make sure you know all there is to know about it in the first place if you don’t want to get bit on the kitten in the long run.
First of all, who said I wanted to craft celestial gear?
Second, people blame me now for BUYING them, while I didn’t buy 1 single quartz crystal.
So what else do you want to do with charged quartz than craft celestial gear ?
Because .. you can’t do anything else with it, and its accountbound so you can’t
even sell it anymore after you charged it.
You only want to charge it RIGHT NOW just to NOT use it and just to have a reason to complain .. right ?
And how in the world have you harvested 15750 quartz ? Oh .. i know .. you also haven’t harvested it.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

The only reason you could have so many crystals if you’ve somehow devised a method to make a profit off something you craft with them. Either that or you hope that something of this nature is coming in the future.
The “how and why doesn’t matter” in your reply only make me more suspicious.
That’s why there’s the 1/day limit there – so people can’t profit off this sort of thing immensely and drive other players off by economical means.
Time gating diminishes the gap between players who can play a lot and have lots of cash and players who don’t have access to a lot of gold. It evens out the playing field.
Exactly, I never said I harvested them.
By the way, people start talking a bit offensive towards me atm, why? Only because I have a ridiculous amount of 1 item? There are various ways to get them, not only gathering.
All I wanted to make clear is that 1 per day is a bit stupid.
So… You didn’t buy any of them and you didn’t harvest them…
Are you saying that you aquired 15k+ quartz from opening wintersday gifts, Zephyr Sanctum Supply Boxes and as rewards from Santum Sprint? Ok that’s fine.
You also say that you aren’t using it to craft celestial gear. Ok… Since celestial gear is literaly the only way to currently use charged quartz crystals I am curious as to what your plan is.
I dislike time gating but they aren’t going to change it as it is an attempt to level the field between those that can purchase and those that have time.
This is a very odd thread. 63 stacks of quartz is a lot, and expecting anything to change just because of your undisclosed intention to use that much quartz is frankly ridiculous.
Yes it might be odd that the crafting process is time-gated, but so is ascended crafting, and just because I want to craft ascended mats faster doesn’t mean I should get my way.
I have to agree that coming in here and stating you have 63 stacks of Quartz and had no idea Charged Crystals were time gated does not make much sense. I would certainly hope that no sane person would ever accumulate that quantity of raw materials and be unaware of the refinement process (if the goal was to refine it).
OP seems to be quite defensive about the issue, but beyond trying to just not appear supremely ignorant, I have no idea why. Stating that it, “doesn’t matter how I got the material”, just makes it more suspicious…..

the point is anet should remove the shtupid time gating
I honestly don’t see a problem with the time gating. I made my first set of celestial gear when quartz was first introduced and yes it took a while, but not nearly as long as crafting the ascended gear I now have.
Is time gating silly? Sure, but as others have said before it makes it so that casual players don’t get left behind those that have loads more time.
The quartz has been like this since it was introduced nearly a year ago, don’t expect it to change.
Sure, but as others have said before it makes it so that casual players don’t get left behind those that have loads more time.
It’s exactly the opposite. People with less time, can not do the stuff they want to do, at the occasion that they actually have the time to do it. It hits people who can not log in everyday harder than people who can..

Indeed. Looks like “Buy GW2 account for only 500 bucks, this account has 63 stacks of Quartz that you can charge to make masses of money with them”
Else it makes totally no sense to get those masses out of nowhere and at the same time have absolutely no clue what you can do with it.

Some people -_- ..
Atleast GreenAlien and Zackie get my point.
I AM NOT TRYING TO GET PEOPLE AGAINST ME, I AM TRYING TO STATE TIME GATING IS REDICULOUS FOR ACCOUNT BOUND ITEMS.
Maybe caps works this time.
Jesus, relax people.
If you traded in materials at the bazaar, you received bags that were most likely to give you a crystal (and rarely a skin or mini). With a small amount of this, plus digging at the crystal nodes whenever I visited, I ended up with about 5-6 stacks of those crystals.
Seems to me this guy is a power trader and responsible for the huge jump in T6 material prices.
