“Priority is resolving ways to get precursors, including the scavenger hunt 1/2”

Without a doubt the best part of this post to me, I am glad that it seems the devs do realise that there is a issue with how precursors are obtained, or rather with the lack of ways to obtain one.

Also very nice to see the part about guild missions taking place in southsun, I have yet to find a reason to go there, I guees thats about to change.

Yea, we all saw those forums full of posts asking for AC to be made harder…. NOT!
.

They mentioned that they would make it more like fractals. Are these considered difficult (not talking about higher levels, but generally)? I mean, I’m not a big PVE fan, but the two times I did fractals (lvl 10 and 5 btw), they were faceroll easy. The hardest part was to manage the small time window of the swamp. The bosses were ridiculously easy.

So I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that AC will get more difficult.

on the sword changes: I had actually hoped that they would make it harder to cap stuff and easier for defenders to show up at a spot (=take longer to get through walls/doors). Which would lead to more acutal PVP, which is the thing that WvW is missing the most, if you ask me.

I’m really wondering why they seemingly chose to make keeps/towers easier to cap; because that’s what that change will effectively be about: you won’t see enemy zerg movement anymore (more than 25 people accidentially hitting/getting hit by a doe won’t happen very often) and with superior siege equipment it will get ever more difficult to arrive in time to defend, once the attack has been spotted. Not to say that this makes WvW even less casual friendly, because now you need those scouts more than ever and people will get kitten because of this and arguments will start.

I don’t think that this is a change for the better. But I’m curious as to how this will pan out.

Imo, they should get rid of the sword symbols and replace them with two symbols. One that shows exactly your server’s strength at that position and one that shows an estimated number for the enemy group. The enemy symbol should only appear when foes are within an ally’s FOV.

That should provide a lot of info for players of different roles and increase battlefield awareness for all.

All fractals are easy. Just some take longer than the others.

Idea for commander changes: As a commander, it would be extremely useful for me to be able to draw on the map and have everyone in my squad would be able to see what I draw (Squad joining would help to prevent confusion if another commander drew on the map and would add one more thing for spies to have to do). I am sufficient at explaining plans, but being able to draw out exact paths, and ping locations for all to see would really help people to understand plans and show them an exact route in which I plan to take. Just a thought, but I think it would help a lot.

Makes me worry that they are sending data for every darn popup shown above a mobs head!

They could at the very least start off by reducing the stacks of bleeds some attacks apply(thief DB puts on 3) and increasing their damage or duration. That way instead of 3 stacks at 50 each it’s 1 bleed of 150. On crit bleeds should have their chance to proc reduced but damage or duration increased. Poisons and burns also need to be stackable(just the damage not the heal reduction). They created this mess by “balancing” some classes to the point where they can stack 15-25 bleeds solo. The exact same issue is on the boon side as well since some classes can easily stack 15+ might.

That is just the band-aid fix though until they can re-develop the poorly implemented condition/boon system. I’m sure there are technical aspects I’m missing but on the other hand they did make it so 1-2 classes alone can hit the cap…so you can’t discount things just being mishandled.

Oh yeah so now we have to force some people to guard the Keeps/Towers …
And guess who will guard these tower: dedicated wvw players. Meanwhile the normal players still zerg around happily.

I can totally see this happening. The dedicated WvWers will be stuck in the towers, maybe on a rotation, being bored and doing skritt-all for most of the time, missing out on drops and badges, while zergers keep zerging. Seems perfectly fair, and balanced toward strategic play /sarcasm

I know ANet is trying to encourage people to think tactically with the Orange Sword removal, but like you, I suspect that it will only lead to more zerging (now stealth) in slightly smaller groups.
Hopefully, though, guilds will organize themselves enough to run smaller operations.

It can only work if they find a way to properly reward guarding/scouting. Given that they currently don’t like to reward anything in WvW that doesn’t involve running with a zerg, that would require a huge shift in their thinking. Even if they decide to reward guarding/scouting, there is still the problem of how you do so with out making it possible for someone to sit AFK some where or just run randomly around the map and get rewarded for it.

it’s a great idea bc players will now travel in packs under the number limit to avoid triggering the orange sword icon and you’ll be missing out on extra badges from smaller skirmishes that occur all over the map.

mounts i tell you!

No offense, but would you want to do this? Stand around on lookout duty, I mean. I’ve done this, and it gets kind of boring if the objective you’re babysitting never comes under attack.

No rewards for babysitting either, while the zerg mops up badges by the bagful. It’s no wonder people choose not to defend.

Next to zero event, any events that are there are really boring and long.

The whole map could been deleted if it was up to me.

Is there any possibility that the UI will help track other people [in guild missions]?

Colin: That’s the type of stuff we’re not building yet but I think that will be included in the list of stuff we’ll be looking into with other guild upgrades. We need to get to the point where we just sit down and start getting people working on it. We’re always leveraged by how many engineers we have, that’s our biggest issue at any given time. It is “how many programmers do we have that can actually code anything?”. The feedback, all this time, is “why don’t you build XYZ when you’re building this instead?” and there’s a bunch of stuff we build that takes designers and artists to do and we have tons of designers and artists and there are certains things that take programmers to do and we only have so many of them. So it’s always [about] managing what they’re doing – their list is just huge – versus content, which is easy for us to do. But, yeah, I think it’d be great for us to go after that at some point as well.

Months ago I was wondering if it would make sense for Anet to hire more programmers, because apparently their current team is way overburdened. The game has been bug-ridden since launch and it’s only slowly getting better.

There’s a reason it’s underused.

It’s a major pain in the backside. When the Young Karka can kill someone with one volley of tail spit, Veteran Karka have Champ level HP and can kill 20-30 players with a single attack, and Champion Karka have Legendary x2 HP, you’d think you would know why Southsun is underused.

You’d think.

Southsun Cove was a colossal failure as a zone, as an event, and as an expansion. We don’t need things added to it, we need it changed to be less unfriendly to players.

Prove it. Have you been hit by the Veteran Karka rolling attack? It downs anything it hits. If that thing lines up right it can floor 20-30 players.

Champion Karka have Legendary level HP. When you ‘defeat’ them they shed their shell and regenerate their entire health bar. Young Karka do upwards of 15k damage with their spit attack unless you block, dodge or reflect it.

yeah, i disagree entirely with that. The only problem with that zone is there’s nothing to do there. Now there will be… problem solved! It’s a perfect spot for new content.

Funny how in his description of guild events, he suggests that they’re not exactly sure how it’s going to be used by the guilds, and that it will be through the process of us playing it that they will learn how to further develop it. I kind of like that. It sounds like they’re throwing us a curveball, and how we approach it as players will direct their future endeavors. Sounds fun!

Stop running around in full berserker gear and things will stop one-shotting you. I find young karka to be mostly harmless. I only run into trouble with them when I happen to aggro more than three -which is rarely. I routinely solo veteran karka, and I have taken the full brunt of their rolling attack without going down. Honestly, their triple stomp combo is much deadlier.

I don’t want new dungeons – not until the ones we already have start being worth playing. What is the point of adding new content if the framework is already there? It’s just more contentless content.

One thing about Southsun Cove is true: There isn’t much to do talking about events and such things…
But please, don’t start complaining about the difficulty in that zone.
When it was implemented in the game I was kind of happy to see a zone with mobs you can’t just faceroll through. Finally you had to be alert to some degree if you pull one or more of those mobs in there. We can talk about their HP, but apart from that…
The game, especially the open PvE world is such a faceroll overall, please don’t take that little that isn’t! :-(

Yes isn’t that Awesome, loving this idea (stealth attacks FTW) now you must plant people on keeps and stop zerging

Not necessarily – just keep an eye for white swords. Most of the time (as it is now), it’s NPC’s getting pve’d. Now we need to send a scout and it could be anything from Quaggans to a 20-man guild group.

Honestly the white swords on keeps, we have no idea if this also maybe hidden or changed, Stealth attacks may actually work, it should because it would make people actually work…

The kitten, AC redesign? That’s the one and only dungeon that is decentish and servers it purpose (being newbie friendly). What they should be looking at is the tank and spank bosses in HoTW and CoF p1 and apparently Arah Simin path since people acctually get denied form that due to being necros or rangers >.>

There better be some kitten good fixes to the ‘lesser’ classes in this patch….

Well they did say that they would make it more fun and interesting. If it’s anything like fractals (which they pointed out), then that’s a good thing since it’ll leave a good impression on newbies on dungeon design.

I do hope they don’t change Kholer. That guy is awesome.

You’re kidding right hes the main thing that needs a change, no one bothers to do him at all because hes so much hassle and waste of effort its easier to go past him, to me hes the focal part of what AC needed changed.. Reward needs to equal effort or people side step it

Was there any mention as to the rewards you receive for participating in guild missions? I know guilds unlock more missions and guild-specific rewards. Are there rewards that boost individual power?

Hoping these missions stay away from the raid-style reward system where if you participate in this endgame/high end group functions you get rewarded with some BiS gear that can only be onbtained through raiding. I hope guild missions do not provide individual stat boosts where I would yet again feel compelled to participate in them every time I log into the game in order to keep up with the masses..
