Yeah, actually.

Looking at how much grind the legendaries need kind of sapped my will to play.

And Blizzard sent me a free week…

I’ll probably play LOTRO just to get my money’s worth on the new expansion, but since I don’t pay sub fees there either I’ll switch between these two games.

Even they are starting to look at their tap system (attacking enemies) and wonder if they could do something similiar to GW2.

Elona, Land of the Golden Sun….and undead…and poison. The travel brochure lied okay?!

I’m having a real hard time with the no tanks/heals deal with GW2, I miss being a tank :/ I have not played WoW in 8 months but i think i will be going back to play a tank again but i hate the mop xpac /sigh

As the title says, I was doing CM with some friends, and we started discussing how odd it would feel to go back to a standard MMO like Everquest, WoW and Rift, where you can’t dodge and evade the enemies attacks.

See this is my biggest issue with this game is the instances, I’m from Aus and i get rubber banding while dodging ( I’m not a lone with this ) and it just makes doing any kind of Exp mode instance not worth my time. As for WoW at least being a tank i can tank more then 1 hit from a mob in a instance.

Well they designed the classes to be tank and healer less and more self sufficient but all the classes were also designed so you can spec in a way to play different rolls. So in other words in a full party you can spec your class to be more a healer or a tank. Of course because of this design you wont be able to Take or heal the way you would be used to in other MMOs. Kind of like all classes when it comes to rolls being a jack of all trades but a master of none.

Yes, I could.

In fact I’d love to go back playing a healer in a holy trinity game.
I like clearly defined roles and a stats-centric gameplay mechanic.

Oh and I LOATHE dodging red circles on the ground, it’s not funny or has anything to do with skill.

That said, GW2 is not a bad game. Quite the contrary, it’s a very good game if you like the “MMORPG light” approach from A-Net. I hope they stay true to their vision because they will feel the pressure from players that like a more traditional gameplay.

I am gone the moment a MMORPG is released that is NOT a WoW clone and brings back the feeling I had while playing EQ or DAOC. Because it is unlikely that such a game is released during my lifetime I´m playing GW2 for the forseeable future and try to enjoy it as good as I can…

I could go back to a ‘traditional’ mmo if it were a lot like SWG. If I could ‘live’ in a player made city, in a player made house, with all player made items, I would.

Exactly. So why can’t we just have stuff like that in this game so we don’t want to leave?

Here, it feels a lot like everyone’s the same class just with a different skin.

Wow, that’s just so totally not my experience. My Mesmer plays totally differently from my Warrior, absolute night and day.

In fact one of the marvels of GW2 for me is just how precisely defined and distinct the classes are.

They are all soloable and survivable, if that’s what you mean, then I’d agree (no kittened-for-solo healer, etc.) – but when you get to teaming up, you can have very distinct functions in a group.

The only other MMORPG I will play is EVE, but then I guess that hardly counts as traditional, I enjoy the relative lack of grind and quality of PvP that a level playing field provides, too much.

Perhaps if someone put a gun to my head, I could go back to playing a standard MMOG. I stopped playing MMOGs several years ago. GW2 got me interested with Anet’s manifesto, and then videos and early reviews got me interested enough to buy they game, since there was no sub fee.

I must say, I’m utterly blown away by this game. It’s so, so much more than any other game – MMOG or not – that I’ve ever played. I’m always finding new ways to enjoy this game, I’m continuously surprised find myself so amused and entertained that hours can go by without me getting bored or antsy or frustrated.

Easily. I like Guild Wars 2 but I love crafting more than anything and GW2 doesn’t amaze me there. I played Star Wars Galaxies for almost two years and I’ve never seen any MMO come close to the crafting system of that game. It’s amazing and the next MMO I see to create a crafting system like that would get my money for years to come.
