I have suggestion to Anet. Account-Bound Crafting. Every character can use every unlocked crafting, but with actual Limit in number 2. Now, we can buy for gems additional slots for every character, but for what. Everyone create new characters and use actual limit.

They bank off of laziness, its the same reason that gem harvesting tools are account bound but single item, people will buy multiple instead of having to switch. Plus it would cause issues with those who use crafting as a means to level alts.

E: Though learned recipes should be account wide, but actual crafting level I would say it isn’t needed.

Not gonna happen in the existing role crafting plays in the game. They explicitly want you to collect recipes, which they can be limited to specific characters, adding “value” to the character itself. They want that psychological effect so it gives them a measure of control on how a player approaches crafting.

Although, the idea to have the number of possible current crafting professions active still remain at 2 and each players has to purchase the others through the gem store is not a bad idea, and one that might incentivize Anet to consider this – but then it could also backfire, as fewer crafting licenses would have to be bought if they were account bound.

A difficult suggestion, but it would be nice if something could be done.

There are several excellent ways to approach this and many good suggestions have been made for crafting over the years. I’m sure ArenaNet has many more ideas of their own but aren’t prioritizing them. I’d personally like to be able to drop disciplines on one character and pick them up on another at the very least, but incurring the loss of recipes that may or may not be easily obtainable again is just one obstacle. I’ve set it up currently so that each of my 8 characters have one discipline, except my main has two and one of my alts have a duplicate. My kingdom for being able to switch one of my main’s crafting skills to replace my alt’s so they each just have one. That’d be nice for me in the absence of account bound solutions. I like organizing stuff but couldn’t tell the future when I did this.

There’s very little wiggle room right now. Crafting overall feels a bit … dry?

Think of the possibilities.
