Many of the events scaling is too litte when big zergs arrive. Plinx, pre Melandru at the beacon, and some other known “loot-fest” events are not even challenging in BIG Groups/zergs (wich are fairly common there. If u’re lucky, u actually get to hit one enemy, if u’re even more lucky u get loot from it as well. It should not be “Poke-an-enemy-and-it-dies” factor to it when upscaled… Its a Lvl 80 area!

If not too many ppl arrive – then it works as intended… but it should upscale even further, to make the events actually challenging for the really big groups. The enemies could be more in numbers, having more HP, more hard-hitting attacks and some of the events could have more elites or other hard-to-kill enemies in the hordes that spawns.

@Frostfang – I was recently in Orr and had the same problem. It became a race to see who had the fastest connection in order to hit the mobs before they died. They literally spawned on top of me and I could only hit one or two. I keep track of my connection but even so it was a 50/50 whether I could hit anything but veterans or champs.
There is a range of player numbers where the events are really good and everyone can get credit. Too few and it’s lousy, too many and you get nothing but a champ bag/box at the end.
I too would like to see the events scale up even more if the zergs are going to rival mega-boss event sizes. No need to add more champs just spread out the zerg more with some extra mob spawns in random spots around the event. Some people know exactly where to stand to farm these things. It would be nice for upscaling to mix it up a bit.

Absolutely. The hardest part of an event, especially in Orr, is hoping that you do enough damage within the first second of something spawning to hope that you do damage to it in order to get any sort of reward for it.

Take the Temple of Grenth cleansing event, for example, where you protect Jonez Deadrun as he cleanses the temple. The only thing I see are people either attacking one of the champions that spawns, or spamming AOE skills at the spawn points. The enemies die before they even have time to appear.

If this was the state of events when I first started playing I can honestly say I would have laughed at dynamic events and would never have done them. It’s just not fun for me.
Unfortunately, I know how fun it used to be to be challenged with these events pre megaserver, as there were fewer people, so mobs took longer to die and actually were able to damage you. So now I’m left holding on to the hope that megaservers will either get a massive overhaul that addresses things that are serious issues for me….or, in my perfect world, be removed or have an option to choose if one would like to be placed in the megaserver and allow others to remain in their home server instancing if they so desire.

Hopefully this thread isn’t deleted and told to be merged into the megaserver threads. Any moderator reading, please! I think this is more an issue about scaling as a whole. Megaservers really just made it more convoluted and difficult for the scaling technology.

Welcome to the megaserver.

So many events trivialized by megazergs now. There’s a lot of them that need scaling fixes like this, if they’re not going to lower the softcap on maps. :\

I am finding this problem game-wide, it’s not just a cursed shore issue. Having recently returned to the game, they had previously changed scaling to rectify the “melting” issue (so much damage so fast mobs died as if they just melted when they spawned), but it seems to have returned. Any overpopular event falls prey to this, even The Frozen Maw, at every stage of the event and it’s precursors, just melts so fast.

Hopefully we can expect a revisit to tweaking the scaling issue.

I am not seeing any more bodies than I did before I left the game 8 months ago. When it came to popular events, Blackgate at that time had just as many peeps as I see now with the new “megaserver”. Remember, this megaserver system was really put in place to merge the dwindling home server populations, not to amass a robust and expanding home population.

Hey dude you are walking into a wall.

It has nothing to do with the Megaserver. These issues have always been there, and have yet to be fixed since the launch of the mage. All through the Living Story even prior to the Megaservers, trying to hit -something- in one of Scarlet’s spawns, or Fire and Frost was more the challenge than actually getting the event complete. Many times my friends and I would go past the whole set of events without any participation claims because “we didn’t deal enough damage”, and given healing and revivals don’t count because god forbid you want to actually play focused support in an event, you would get nowhere.

None of these issues have anything to do with the megaserver; The megaservers have simply made sure every Tequatl run isn’t an insta-fail because there is no people to even get him through the first phase, and has managed to make Orr not be an always-contested wasteland.

Hmm, as an avid Cursed Shore champ farmer, I do indeed like my loots. But I wouldn’t mind the events scaling further for the large farm groups that go around.

However, would you feel the current rewards for these events would still be in-line if the events were buffed? I certainly think this is something they’d have to think about. My judgement is clouded by the fact that I love getting the champ boxes at the rate we currently do on the CS farm. I would hate to see this farm die, and if the rewards were kept the same, but the events were scaled to a point where people rendered it a waste of time, it would die and I’d be sad.

CS champ farm is actually fun for me, and it’s a nice change from my main activity in GW2 which is dungeon running. I would hope any buffs to events would either a. not effect the farm to a point where it becomes obsolete or b. the rewards scale up too so the farm remains.
