Yeah, I thought they were going to make it so we could pick from all available daily options as to what we wanted to complete. Instead we get to pick from a bunch of options for that day. Now it seems completing your daily is harder doing what you want to do. If I want to WvW I’m not going to do either of the 40 kill ones, not going to complete a fractal, probably not 3 skill points, not the down-leveled events, etc. Just annoying really.

I find them more time consuming now, but I don’t really mind so much. What I am happy about is it seems they are allowing us to choose for the monthly as well. Not this month it seems because it’s so close to the end of the month, but it does say in-game “you only need to complete a subset of your daily or monthly category” so I’m guessing this means we actually get a choice next month! I’ll actually be able to do the monthlies because I won’t be forced to do dungeons. Very happy right now.

Im not talking about difficulty. Im talking about time.

I just did it. Easy, yes. But took much longer than the last 60
days of me doing it. Get 3 skill points? Map completion already
for me, and Im not going to make a toon just for that. Run a
fractal? No thanks. kill xxx mobs in xxx zone? Even worse.

All Im saying is that Im surprised things went in a more time consuming

If that’s the list (still patching) that’s not much of a choice. Auto write-off PvP and Fractals combined with map completion that leaves only 5 left to do. Having said that, those look better than the previous ones.

I still wish they’d separate PvP and PvE dailies. I really don’t understand what’s so difficult about doing that.

can’t do dailys anymore.
im wvw/pvp player and the old dailys were annoying as hell but doable giving me the chance to get those kitten laurels to be on the same level as other players.
now with those choices (if they are the only ones) I won’t get laurels. I will not kill 40 mobs in ascalon and i’m done with fractals (getting those 2 rings was the LAST time in my life I do something I don’t want) and the other objectives are forcing me to play the game the way I don’t want to.
why not add objectives so that EVERYBODY can get dailys easily?
they said they want ascended items to be time-gated and adding 20 choices to do dailys would not alter that.

I don’t really care if they take more time or not.

However, I do care that again ANet did not consider how their customers would respond. Basic failure to understand players has occurred again. This could have so easily been avoided.

Keeping an open mind, and understanding that a lot of players piled onto the server at the same time (server reset)…. my first 30 mins in the game, leveling an alt was such a sad experience it bordered on funny.

In the lowbie zones (those requiring 40 kills)… and events done while downsized….

… what I observed was:

  • step out into zone, find 5-6 level 80’s mowing through mobs leaving huge patches of cleared areas free of mobs. Not a good impression for a new player trying to learn game, level weapons, or find heart mobs.
  • Events were totally overridden with 80s (yes, you can tell by the gear), and completed before players at level could get to them or get enough hits in (contribute enough) to make bronze, much less silver or gold.

I believe those were added as a way to entice more activity in those zones? Not overrun the folks trying to level there. (Benefit of the doubt here.)

If this was the first time that ANet implemented a change, not understanding players WILL take the path of least resistence, that would be understandable. Sadly, it appears to be a trend.

Makes me wonder which team has been left in place from the original folks who released the game.

I am trying desperately to remember the following 2 axioms regarding development:

1) “An intuitive change to a complex system will inevitably leave that system worse off.”

2) “Never attribute to malice aforethought that which can adequately be explained by incompetence.”

Especially the 2nd one.

ANet, your continued decisions inflicting damage on the community continues to erode trust and confidence in the game, its future direction and potential longevity for me and my guild. Which is unfortunate, because the game made a significant contribution to the genre.

BG: 52 alts, 29 lvl 80’s. They all look good, so I am done with the game: Oct 2014

The only thing I have to say about it is that I feel bad for the low level players in starting zones. I ran around trying not to one shot everything so they could get credit. I remember when I was leveling an alt, high level people would kill everything before I could touch it. Was a bit annoying imo.

There are more options BUT they’re far more restrictive AND time-consuming.

1 – The ‘Kill 40x’ quests are ridiculous. Before you could kill whatever you want and play the game as you would like to play it. For me, I’d rack up these kills in the cursed shore where the loot and events are relevant to my level. But now, i’m forced to go to these zones to get 40-80 kills, all the time wondering, why am I sent here? Besides slogging it out for the daily quest, I have no real purpose here.

2 – 3x Skill Points – OK~ but this is still quite grindy, perhaps 1h30 of events to get this. This daily is ok for people still leveling but for casual 80 players, especially for those who have little time after coming home from work, are forced to do activities that give XP. Some activities in GW2 are more lucrative for XP than others, either way, this is time consuming.

3 – Daily Fractal – Wow, a forced dungeon. I don’t run this dungeon often, I don’t have the time. I actually join the dungeon my guildmates happen to be doing or, join a lower level dungeon with low level guild members. How about changing this to, do ANY DUNGEON OF YOUR CHOICE.

I know people are going to get all defensive here but the main reason why I’m playing this was because I was drawn by the notion that arenanet conveyed to me: to allow players to play the game as they want it.

At first I was like, oh cool, individualistic dailies. Maybe I can do dailies that I care about! But now it seems more like ‘here are some dailies that arenanet wants you to do in order to stimulate the economy, get more player activity in instance X, etc etc’

Don’t underestimate the size of your casual market, time-consuming dailies are the exact opposite of what we want. The casual market is bigger than ever at this point in time, like it or not. Now, get this: Dailies that prove to be a chore IS NOT a selling point.
The dailies must be generalized enough such that they are applicable to every player and are gradually completed minute by minute by doing the stuff they’re interested in. Now this would be a feature I would be thrilled to tell my colleagues and friends about.

Example:
- Kill Any 50 monsters of your choice
- Make 10 PvP kills in a map of your choice
- Do a dungeon of your choice

The old dailies were like this, there was freedom in what you can do. And the time spent, as you would normally play, would eventually complete it. Now it’s more like, I have to do X number of activities I don’t care about ON TOP of what I’d normally want to do. I really don’t have the time and guess what, dailies become a chore and get BORING.

I’m not whining about making it easier (not like dailies should be based on difficulty anyway), i’m asking for dailies to be more relevant to any player’s daily play.

This is absurd. You are absurd.

You complain about lack of choice. There are 9 different dailies to choose from.

And you’re completely missing a central goal of dailies which is to give you an incentive to visit content that you don’t usually visit.

If you can’t spend 5 minutes in Ascalon or in Norn territory that’s your problem. The vast majority of us like having a reason to go back to these zones and explore content that we haven’t seen in a while or might have missed when we were leveling.

You only mention 4 daily options that you didn’t particularly like….Guess what? That leaves you 5 other ones for you to do. Even if you don’t like some of those just take 10 minutes to do them. Whoop dee kittenin doo.

It’s funny, I thought the lack of choice was what made the old ‘new’ dailies a problem. Today, on the first day I have a choice I have to completely change my planned play for the day. I would much prefer that I decide where and how I play. At least with the old ‘new’ dailies, and I didn’t like them, I could pretty much fit them in whatever I was up to. No longer. Once again, they have improved it worse.

There’s a reason I don’t visit them. If I wanted to visit content for the lols, I’d do it. If the central goal of dailies is to choke content down my throat, I’d load up another game and play what I want to.

Look princess, you clearly don’t understand what a dev team needs to do when developing a game. Updates to this game are not a simple process. It takes a lot of real people doing real work trying to make millions of players happy. The experience simply cannot be personally tailored to each and every princess in this game so that that princess will never have to do anything she finds boring. That, princess, would take quite literally 1000s of man hours.

Exactly. Before, you could just login, do all your dailies inside WvW. Now you have to step outside, do some mind numbing PvE, run fractals, grind 3 levels.

The whole selling point of GW2 was that anyone can just jump in and have fun, noone should be forced to grind 80 levels to PvP, so they made it so that ANYONE can partipicate. LIKEWISE, noone should be forced to do a ton of chore-like-dailies to get EXCLUSIVE GEAR.

You can’t be bothered for 10 minutes of your time, so don’t expect ANet to spend 1000s of man hours catering to your every whim at the expense of other players, princess.

If you’re going to make exaggerations, don’t expect anyone to take your post seriously.

If your going to make ridiculous demands of what is ultimately optional content, dont expect anyone, including ArenaNet, to take your posts seriously either.

Laurels = daily exclusive = exclusive gear

cool options bro.

Ridiculous demands? What I was requesting was already in place.

No matter how many choices you actually have, you’ll never be happy. There will always be something to kitten about.
Here’s a hint. If you know that dailies are easier done on the starting areas and are that cheap that you don’t want to travel from Orr with your main, park a alt in one of them. You get to level it a bit each day and complete the daily in the process.

Thank you for clarifying this point!

The new daily’s are designed to consume/reduce in game coin.

The game reset my daily for nothing and I quit

Wainting for the next patch… if I don’t see they try to make characters evolution better, I will complete stop to play the game.

This game have a lot of cool things, but have no variety of skills and don’t help to see the Dynamic Events on mini-map and others kittens.

:D

Great creative content (note some sarcasm)… force players to rush 40 kills in two zones and move on… bored me senseless. Total waste of time.
