One of my favorite little things with this game is that the cannon fodder attacks each other. To many other games have wolves and meat side by side and they never fight.

Same. I loved it at lower levels with hearts/waypoints/map completions… trying to instigate a fight between reds and yellows xD. Had to get in quick before the yellows took ’em down

I have to admit, the time I hit a chicken in Ebon Hawk, I ended up running for my life. I was screaming out loud (and much to my family’s amusement), “Chickens! Chickens! Holy ____, don’t mess with the chickens!”

It’s their legendary 100 Hooves attack.

Deer are totally overpowered.

During probably my first week or so playing the game, I’d just taken out a whole camp full of centaurs singlehandedly, and had rescued and revived a Seraph who assured me of his eternal gratitude.

Then I was immediately stomped to death by some deer I had accidentally aggroed with an AoE. There was no contest between us, it was just a Ranger smashing fest.

Those deer definitely taught me some humility.

At this time of year, Bambi is a protect species. How else do you expect to get your presents?

Speaking of deer. Someone have mentioned about killer chicken. Especially unrisen chicken. Have you even met the rabbit yet?

If you have not yet met the killer rabbit, neither have I. So, rabbit is still the safest creature around. Such harmless creature they are.

I’m waiting for my Norn Rabbit Or Chicken form. All the other ones are useless, but have you seen the bunny in fotm? Or the chickens in Orr? They are deadly. I’m now conditioned to hesitate whenever I see a chicken or bunny with a red name.

Also…the dawning of the age of the antler is among us. Repent!

My guess is that they gave these creature npcs more health because they wanted the players to experience a more live world where we see predators and their prey in action. It’s pretty cool to see this type of thing happen automatically, and adds a certain depth to the surroundings. If they had low HP pools, you’d never really get to see this behavior.

That’s my guess.

BEWARE! I saw moa’s kicking raptor arses yesterday, I swear the moa’s are now attending deer special self-defence deadly classes!

Actually it’s not that unrealistic, a lot of prey animals can be extremely deadly, even killing their own predators in a fair fight.

Last summer the BBC had to remind people in the UK to be careful of cows after a few incidents with injuries and I think even 1 death, which was basically the result of people assuming they could do whatever they wanted (mainly let their untrained dogs run around harrasing cattle) and the cows wouldn’t do anything.

But I agree that a DE against a legendary deer boss would be awesome.

Leave them alone! I can go afk in Timberline Falls in a parliament of owl griffins. Not only are the deer tougher, but they are aggressive towards the monsters. They actually chase and draw off griffins that attack you… and kick puppy. The deer are my friends, and as a ranger, I disapprove of this suggestion

I saw somewhere where a deer beat up Tyria and got half its body stuck into the ground. Yeah they are tough but haven’t mastered walking backwards. That’s how you win!

The first character I made was taken out several times by these flock on Moa. They indeed have great power too. They must have learned from the deer. =O
