Devs have poor communication
You just found that out?
I don’t visit the forums much but when I do, it seems that everyone suggests something nice and anet does the complete opposite so yes I suppose
Sometime this spring we’re due for another of their announcements on it. It’ll be the usual “We’ll change. We’ll talk more about our problems and our plans. We’ll open up. We’ll be honest. We’re a team, devs and players.” with a bit of “It’ll be different this time. We’ve changed, we know we have. We won’t backslide again. You can trust us! We love you, players!”
Within a month, it’ll be back to what it was before. And a month is being generous to them.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
It isn’t great for an MMO with “Living World” and e-sport aspirations to exist in a self-imposed communications embargo.
It’s even worse when they repeatedly tell us that they will be communicating more but then don’t.

This + “We listen very carefully to our loyal playerbase here on the forums and on reddit, so we know what you guys want and just wait for the next quarter of 20xx since there will be many new big patches coming with features/balances we know you all wanted but we can’t tell you guys anything specific about it yet.”
followed then by when those patches hit
“Well, we’re sorry that you all feel this way about our changes, but according to our internal testing and metrics, this is what you guys wanted, ain’t that so? Well sorry, next time it’ll be much better, we promise!”

They do chat and give substantive updates. They have discussions on how to fix things where the dev talks freely with the people on the Forum. This is pretty much a daily thing with them. They are very open and communicative.
On Reddit.
You want a chance to have a Dev drop in on a thread you made and make small talk? You want to see timely posts on important things happening right now? Have long discussions? Go to the (Un)Official forum where things be happenin’!
Be an RedditNet poster and never feel ignored again.
ANet may give it to you.
this is news? I thought this is learnt the moment you play the game.
Anyone else feel like Anet has very poor communication with their community? I see devs like DE for Warframe that seem interested in what their community says and implements the changes they like. I feel like our suggestions are just ignored most of the time.
Like what? Specifically what suggestions do you mean? That is so vague. If you are referring to PvP balance that is after season one. Which they said. So what more is there to say about it?
Are you sure you want to make that invitation here?
I don’t remember seeing the forums this upset.
How many down voters?
Seriously, why let potential new players/spenders look at the forums and leave permanently. Nothing obvious here says go check Reddit or Twitch.
The Front page has a thread with hundreds of responses and many thousands of views and not a single reply from Anet? It just doesn’t seem like good business practice.
…ya i too was thrown off. I came in during all the HoT beta weekends. The Dev feed back was the breath of fresh air i needed in a game. I thought “Well here is exactly what I have been looking for. A community that has a relationship with their devs. Devs that have a relationship with the community! YAY! F the content I want this!” Bought it right away! ….then promptly refunded after the magic disappeared. Didn’t even get past the no refunds after time frame… Because I learned its just every other game. Swindling you into thinking they cared, but it was just to line their pockets…
Edit: spelling

Pfft we don’t need to wait until spring. Let me save some time.
A year ago in a galaxy far far awayI know some are concerned about whether ArenaNet is communicating with you and listening and responding to your feedback.
As you saw with yesterday’s announcement, we do.All of us at ArenaNet play the game with you, chat with you and read your forum posts, on Reddit, and work on the, gem store, things that we think will most delight and entertain you. We’ve set a clear policy in the past year: we don’t talk speculatively about future development. We don’t want to string you along. Creating
fungrinds is an uncertain business: sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t; sometimes we go back to the drawing board over and over before we get something right. If we make optimistic promises and then can’t deliver on them, everyone suffers. So when we attend a trade show or give an interview, we’re there to talk about what we’re getting ready to ship, not to speculate on what we might ship someday.Don’t read that as meaning that we don’t want to talk with you about the longer-term roadmap.
The intention of the CDI threads is to talk with you about the roadmap. We want to talk design philosophy with you and hear how you want to see the game evolve. When those discussions trigger development, we’ll work internally until we have something we’re proud of before we’ll announce it.A lot of the questions I’ve seen posted this week are as simple as this: does ArenaNet have an agenda to never do something? That’s almost never the case, and if it is the case you deserve to know and we’ll make sure we get more clear. In general the simple truth is this: when we’re not currently working on something, it’s because we’re working on something else instead that we think is more important for the game and community.
Our developers post on
these forumsReddit on a voluntary basis, and in addition to developers, we have a community team who can clarify and be the bridge between players and developers. They’re ready to engage you on these topics. And I know it’s hard for the community team to engage players across all the forums and sites where these questions are being discussed, so I’m going to support the team in consolidating and focusing as necessary, to Reddit, so that we can be clear to the community where you can go to get a response.See you in-game,
Mikey OB
