Disagree with new Chest Loot
I don’t understand how guesting really gets you around that limit. I mean, you can do this with all your alts. Does that count as getting around the limit?
Even with guesting, you can only guest on 2 servers per day. That in itself limits you to each event 3 times in a single day (which is equivalent to just doing the events with two more alts).

I agree.
i tried a few events today on my main and alt,and tbh it was a waste of time.
standing around for over 50 mins for the event to start as the timer can be up to an hour.
I could not do many in the time frame even with alts tbh,but bah.
I earn more cash and gold items in orr.
why ppl are complaining about the chest drops i don’t know,only thing that comes to mind is the farmers and tp controllers.
it’s prob hurting there real money income and so it should.

You’re not burdened by the cost of 5 alts, you choose to try to gear out 5 characters. A person trying for a legendary shouldn’t get bonus cash just because he’s going for a legendary or some some other optional garbage.
You could dress your character in greens you found on the way to 80 and still farm all the events exactly the same. Theres no cost there, just huge profit, so that kind of falls apart.
And rich nodes are account bound along with all forms of DR for a good reason. There’s nothing special about alts that should entitle someone to this much more loot.

See this is your problem. You don’t need 5 geared characters, and the same thing applies if you’re trying to legendary 5 characters. Just because you want more doesn’t mean it should all be easier to get. This is your basic entitlement rant without substance.

And why don’t you need 5 geared characters? Some days in WvW I will run my level 80 geared Guardian, Some days my level 80 geared thief and very seldom do I run my level 80 not-yet-geared ele. He gets his backside handed to him rather quickly. Many people enjoy playing different characters at different times. In fact, in my humble opinion, people that only play one character are one dimensional, unable to see the complete picture.
It irks me that people with only one character to play want to see things be made more difficult. Perhaps, and I am just hypothesizing here, they already have their uber gear and want to be king of the hill and get angry when someone else gets the same gear they do as it would place them on an even footing and they no longer would have that slight advantage.
I’ve said so before and I’ll say so again.
Leave the loot tables as they are now for world events.
Buff loot tables for jumping puzzles and general open world play.
Make auto-levelling a LOT more harsh, so that playing in a low level area with a level 80 character is as difficult as playing in a high level area.
This will get people spreading out over the world even more while increasing the challenge to be something other than “Hit 1 for rares”.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Chest loot is fine, and imo a welcomed improvement.
What I disagree with is the reason why people are maximizing their time/effort/reward.
I very much doubt they are after that rare with the stats they desire.
The rares are there to be salvaged for ectos. Either to use or for coin.
The latter is the thing I have a problem with. Events/areas are seemingly farmed for one sole purpose; gold. Gold for what? I throw it out there that the majority are saving for a legendary. Saving? Yes, all requirements can be purchased with gold, not to mention the legendary itself.
Make these requirements account/soul bound and a lot of the problems I’m reading and experiencing are gone. Also has the side effect of adding to the prestige of a legendary, ie. I didn’t just farm for coin and buy it, I got the stuff myself.
Spread the legendary reqs around the maps, adjust the drop rates/tables even. That would get people out n about – don’t need dailies to make us go out and re-explore things, for example.

If I want my toons to be competative in WvW or top preforming in dungeons when I run them, then yes, they all need to be geared.
And how is it easier to get? I need x amounts more gold, so my choice (provided by the game at release) to play more than one toon should suddenly be a drawback?
If I hoard 100g in a week with 5 toons and you hoard 20g in a week with one toon, its still the same profit in the end, since my gold will be scattered over 5 toons.
It only gets faster if I hoard for one toon only with all 5. But thats no different than spending real cash in the TP to buy things faster, since I spent RL cash in TP for my slots.
The difference is, I spend time in-game to get my gold over several toons, while the guy who buys gems and sells them really doesnt play the game.
So do you want the gem shop to stop aswell because it gives an advantage over “poorer” people when it comes to gold earned?
It’s sad you only see alts as money hoarding pigs instead of actual characters to be enjoyed to the fullest.

I agree, also people with multiple stacks of ecto are trying to get it nerfed, because ecto prices are deteriorating their wealth. Since my characters seem to have permanent DR, these chests are a welcome sight for me, it’s great to see some rares again!

I don’t agree on the “one chest per account either”.
If lag during group events is what the problem is and it is actually related to guesting, then a possible solution to this is to keep the limit chest loot per character, but with effect on all servers and overflows.
In lesser words, limit chest loot to once per character on every server. This means that if characters Tom, kitten and Harry have looted from Behemoth’s chest, and from Elona Reach they guest to Desolation to defeat the boss a second time, they wouldn’t be able to loot the chest there again.
And this should solve the issues with world bosses and guesting.
to many rares , not enough rares make up your minds. I think guesting should be taken out now your issue is solved for over flow nerfing drop rates is stupid.
I don’t think the recent increase in people doing the big world events has anything to do with guesting. There are conflicting opinions regarding loot, do you get loot from a chest if you guest to another server, even if you already looted that particular boss chest with your character? Can anyone say for certain that this is indeed how it works? If the answer is yes then the solution is simple, disable the option to loot a chest more than once per character if you change server.
That is not a solution to the main problem though, the fact that people get rares by going afk… I don’t think the majority of those doing the events are guesting, even without guests there would still be overflows. The problems is different and I can think of a few possible solutions, unfortunately they all have drawbacks:
Normalize timers across the servers, but that would hurt people with limited time. If I can login for 1 hour, shouldn’t I be able to check which server has the Shatterer soon so I guest there and get my rewards?
Have these big events occur at the same time on a particular server, that way we can prevent the event hopping…. also it will boost guesting on other servers (possibly those with low population), you do Shatterer on one server, Jormag on the other and Tequatl on a third. However it will hurt legitimate players who don’t want to switch servers to do all events, should they be excluded from their own server?
Add a “Outmanned” buff (the same used in WvW) when a Dragon/World boss event starts on an low-pop server, it will lead to people guesting there.
Making chests account bound or nerfing the loot from chests are possible options but I don’t need to write what the drawbacks will be….
