I think the plethora of Badges of Honor is a huge deal for people that want legenedaries but are too scared to go into WvW to earn them and/or only farm JPs. The AP rewards you with every badge you will need for your legendary (500).

From AP rewards, I will have enough Badges of Honor for both the Gift of Battle and a complete set of pvt armour. That is very, very practical to me.

However, what is the whole point of Gift of Battle, if not to make players give WvW a try for some time?

Free WvW badges defeat the purpose of Gift of Battle entirely.

You are correct. However I think the plan backfired when the PvE’ers decided that WvW was impossible for them and thus they will never get legendaries. Fast forward through months of complaints on the forums of players being “forced” to participate in WvW for a weapon skin and you have the BoHs being given out like candy from the AP achievements.

I mean, to get Gift of Battle you have to at the very least step foot into WvW. I guess maybe they hope that’s all it will take.

I still talk to people (who have played since release) that think WvW and PvP are the same thing and have refused to do WvW because they don’t like PvP. I try to explain to them they are two different things, but once they ask if you PvP in WvW and I say yes, the discussion ends. It’s so much more! SO MUCH MORE!

You guys are forgetting that they also are forcing us to go to WvW for the gift of exploration (or whatever it is for map completion). Its not just badges we need from WvW to get a legendary.

This is true. Finished that so long ago I forgot it was a requirement.

Rewards are good, I’ve got about 40 mystic stones from these chests.

I get the OP’s point and I agree w/the part about the Radiant/Hellfire skins. Am fine w/the other rewards, though. I did some math:
LS releases 250AP/2weeks, 26x/year= 6500 AP for a year
So if I do all the new content and this is not possible imo for me, I will have 12, 000 next summer (I already am at about 6500 now). I really can’t be too excited for the new skins since at BEST I will only have 4 pieces and I think I would look pretty lame like that. So CoF P1 rules if ya want a complete outfit, and good luck, best wishes to all the folks that are more interested in being an Achievement hunter BTW there are a few folks on the forum that are already annoyed at that, lol.

Here’s the thing. We’re getting all these chests every day because the rewards are being given retroactively. Anyone else new to the game or if the system had been in place from the start these chests would be weeks and months apart.

It only seems like they’re throwing them at us now because of that reason and that reason alone.

It’s fine as is. And most people who want a legendary probably already had their gift of battle sitting in their bank already anyways.

For now. People seem to forget that an MMO is a dynamic environment where things can change based on what the target audience needs and wants, and decisions the devs make about how to give it to them.

Though they don’t go into details about their plans because that would backfire very badly if the plans change, we do know that they are slowly rolling out changes to the way loot is handled. This is one of those changes.

We also know they are reconsidering the path to a Legendary weapon, specifically in designing an alternate path to obtaining a precursor weapon. Considering both changes to the basic game, is it not possible they are going to reconsider the rest of the Legendary process, downplaying or eliminating the least popular portions in favor of something their players desire more?

Specifically, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the requirements for Gifts change, like the Gift of Exploration requiring only PvE exploration and a less random method for obtaining the Gift of Fortune. The randomness and difficulty in exploring the WvWvW maps are two of the biggest complaints regarding the process, and a fair number of players will never even attempt to obtain a Legendary weapon because of these, making them tempting candidates for revision.

I like the system in place, the nice little rewards are some sort of gift for investing those hours into this game. Allthough I’d like to see a system where you can actually choose between reward skins. This would mean when I hit for eg. 3k, I can choose between several skins (not only weapons/gear of one type). This means I can pick either one of the three pieces of hellfire or one of the three of radiant.

Even if you don’t like the skins, 15g for 5000 points is small? 30g for 10000 points is small? By the time you’ve reached 10000 points you’ll be handed a total of 70g for literally “doing nothing”.

Yes. 15g for 5k points is small. 30g for 10k points is small.

That’s pitiful levels of chump change for achievements that take thousands of hours to get.

I can go run CoF p1 for a couple hours and get more gold. I have almost 1,900 hours on my account and just under 4k achievements. Another 15g would be nice, sure…but it’s not exactly anything that has me excited. I’ll make more than that just clearing out my collectables. Heck, I can take one item from my bank and sell it for well over double that.

If you are one of the players who run CoF for money, then obviously you have enough of it for the AP rewards to never make a difference.

I hit 5k AP a few months ago and 15 gold is a really, really nice bonus of “pocket money” for me.

As I feel my main source of income should be the game itself, I don’t think more than 15G would have been appropriate for this bonus.

That 15g for 5k will be very liked by myself I must say. It’s always nice to get free gold like that.

I doubt 5k AP takes thousands of hours to get btw.

Because you and your account represent the majority of the player base? And maybe if you spent less time in CoFp1 you’d have more than 4000 ap after almost 2000 hours.

Right now I’m just at 1000 hours and have almost 6500 ap. By the time I hit 2000 hours if I ever make it that far I expect to have well over 10k ap’s.

Yeah, I know, it’s crazy. I play the game. I don’t farm and I don’t grind. Just play. 15g for doing nothing sounds like a good deal to me.
