Dear Dev,

As far as I see, there is only 1 weapon set, witch has none skin I’m really willing to use, but there is 3 I would say “ok for me”. (Apart from I’ve selected the harpoon gun and it gave me a shortbow; ticket sent.)
Then, 2×3 armor piece. Personaly, I only like the hellfire gauntlets.
After this, what happens? We’ll unlock the not-wanted skins until 50k AP?

I really hope it will have mutch better skins as rewards, because from the current state, me, and many other I’ve asked are forced to unlock skins we don’t even want…

What I mean is, why was it hard not to make whole packs that we can unlock and use?
All Zenith weapon at 2k AP, all 100W lightbulb armor piece at 3K, all Hellfire piece at 4K, then new ones…

Sorry, but this is just a little added bonus as some nod to you for getting AP. It’s nice we get anything at all – I think that at the end of the day, asking for the level of stuff you have just listed is taking it a little far, don’t you?

I don’t think so. Guild Wars 2 isn’t a gift. Its a product.
And because of it, ArenaNet has to make sure we’re using it, and willing to afford more $ in the future. Basicly, AP rewards are pure marketing catch: in try to prevent people leaving the game because of no long contents to play.

What above I wrote is a kind of suggestion. I can never understand why to do things half as good as possible…

There should be a huge wave, a continously content riding.
It means they need to reward us as many way as possible –
because we want unique characters badly, and variety is the key.

If you don’t want to unlock something, you don’t need to open the chest.

I do want my reward, but not what I cant count as a reward – since I don’t need them.

If you don’t want to unlock something, you don’t need to open the chest.

Unfortunately, you do …

If you do not select a skin, you cannot get the rest of the chest items, and the chest does not go away. You then have this annoying and never ending chest bouncing animation going on in the corner of your display …

I can see what you’re saying, but that logic only takes you so far. If ANet implemented the changes you’ve asked for here, then how long do you think it would be before someone else said “hang on, I know I get a complete armour set at 1000 AP, but I don’t want THIS armour set. Let me choose from a whole range of different armour sets”? It would get ridiculous and, from the marketing perspective, doesn’t make sense as it’s a waste of resources to put that much attention on AP rewards.

This is a little gimmick – sure, a marketing ploy if you want to see it that way – but look at any other company that offers this sort of thing to reward loyalty to it’s customers. You never get the choice, they never give you much of any particular worth. It’s just a nod to you to say, hey, thanks for playing.

The fact we never got anything before and now we have something has, sadly, resulted in the usual feeling of entitlement that players get after any length of time.

On the flip side, if someone wants everything, then they’ll automatically get everything if they got enough achievement points.

Spreading it out like this just gives the devs more time to produce more rewards.

As for the rewards, you might not be getting the skins you want (since this is a matter of personal taste), but you are getting a bunch of other stuff:

  • Currency (Laurels, Gold, Karma, Badges of Honour, Gems at 5,000 AP ect)
  • Account Bonuses
  • Items (some from the cash shop i.e. Mystic Forge Stones)

I’m not disappointed with the rewards, but I really think they should have reworked the AP system before they implemented it so it was balanced. A lot of the WvW rewards will take in excess of 10 years playing 18 hours a day doing the exact thing that is required for the achievement, yet its worth the same amount of AP that I can get for another achievement that takes me a couple of hours…

They can balance wv3 achievements separately because most, if not all of them, will be getting massive buffs (hopefully). If they’re ever changed at all, which doesn’t seem likely at this point.

Even if you don’t like the skins, 15g for 5000 points is small? 30g for 10000 points is small? By the time you’ve reached 10000 points you’ll be handed a total of 70g for literally “doing nothing”.

Not to mention the laurels, gems, account bonuses, boosts, and gem store items that you’ll be getting too and all for free. Small?

I guess if you play the market and are flipping precursors then those gold amounts are not an incentive, but for everyone else? Hardly small.

This is taking entitlement to an entire new level.

Well consider this: I have 4700 points, so almost at that 5000 point mark for around 15 gold. That is with 1000 hours played.

Someone starting out, when they get 500 points and get a gold that is nice $$ to get, but time spent vs money earned..ehh I dont know. Its not like someone racks up 500 points in a few hours.

I havent gotten any gems yet.

Ive gotten loads of crappy armor skins that I never liked looking at to begin with in the mists.

Boosts are nice.

Weapon skins are nice, although giving us only ONE choice, for say a short bow…everyone will run with it(and by everyone I mean a lot of people). I figur’ed we would have a better variety here.

And its not that we get 70 gold for doing nothing. Thats a lot of hours played…whether fun, or not..grinding or not.

Ok, it’s not all stuff you want, but ANet can’t give individual rewards out based on each person’s preference (they aren’t mind readers), so they generalise and give everyone a little bit here and there.

It’s just a little bonus as a nod towards your time spent.

It doesn’t matter how long it took. I’m in a similar situation to you, around 1000 hours now, and just about 5900 ap. I didn’t go out of my way to earn a single one of those points. I don’t farm, I don’t grind, I just played. Anet is giving me stuff for just playing the game, as far as I’m concerned that is only good.

People saying they don’t like the skins, or that the rewards are small? So what. Four days ago we didn’t get anything for our efforts. Now we do, and it’s not good enough? There is a word for that and it’s entitlement. People thinking they are owed something when they are not.

Also I’m pretty sure they’ll be adding more to the rewards system too. I remember reading that it’s still incomplete. Sad part is I don’t remember exactly where I read that.

P.S. I didn’t include the pvp items or titles (one at 5k ap, and one at 10k ap) in my earlier list.

Listen people. I’m not arguing about the fact we get something now, and I know it is a really nice thing at least.

My problem is, I want to get something, but something I would even like. Now this is something you people can’t argue with.

This is why I’ve suggested to have different sets unlocked as whole at each milestone of AP. This way, everyone would have something he/she wants, and wouldn’t be a problem if you don’t like the current unlock – you’ll get another style at next!
So it keeps people motivated to go further and further with APs.
Right now, you can pick up some Zenith by time, and thats all. it would go very long if someone wants to collect all of them, and I’m sure arenanet don’t want limits on these sets

I hope you guys now get my logic and mean.

Logic dictates that each item created takes time and effort to create and implement. Anet makes a bunch of skins. They do it for dungeons, they do it for events, they do it for this.

You get the skins you like, you ignore the skins you don’t like.

They’re not going to make 20 sets of skins, hoping you’ll like one of them. What you’re asking simply isn’t reasonable.

I see where you are coming from, really, I do. However the point is that what if ANet NEVER make a set you want? I mean, they can’t please everyone. Will you then still complain because they gave you what you asked for but you didn’t like it?

My point is that they simply can’t make enough armour, weapons etc to please everyone solely for the purpose of putting them up for AP rewards. That would just be a ridiculous area to focus a lot of resources.

The fact we get something is nice. No, we won’t like everything we get, but it’s all free and before we never got anything. Hopefully, there’ll be other things in other chests for the AP that you DO like, and that will balance things out a bit.

It’s not arguing about the fact that you don’t like the look of the armour pieces. That’s fair enough, they won’t appeal to everyone. But you ask ANet to do the impossible by releasing multiple armour SETS. What if I don’t like the sets they release? Do I, by your definition, have a right to tell ANet to release two per account milestone? Three? No, of course not.

Ultimately, this is a nice little bonus for reaching certain milestones. Not everyone will have a use for everything, and yes, that’s a shame. I genuinely am sad that you don’t like the skins available. But I don’t think it’s reasonable to ask for what you are asking for.

OTOH – it’s free stuff – what did you expect? Of course it’s not going to be worth anything.

Personally, I’d rather Anet didn’t keep doing this and instead concentrated more on core mechanics. There are still things that could be improved in the game and which would improve the quality of life far more than a bunch of useless ‘presents’

If anet gave you a precursor and 100g

People would still complain

yes coz it should be 2 – a precursor used on land and a precursor used underwater, and 500g.

What you mean only two precursors and 500G?

I should have all the mats needed to make my Legendaries as well.

Whatever dude. They are forcing me to craft to have my legendary, and forcing me to explore the map and forcing me to PvP.

I think it’s fair that every account deserves a legendary upon log-in.

Im hoping you are being sarcastic… __

If you spent a lot of time on the forums you’d realize I’m one of those in favor of making legendaries harder to get.

So yes :P

^^This. It would be the wrong precursor. Or it should have been two. Lol.

I can see the posts already :

“Bad ANet gave me that precursor, now I have to farm T6 fine mats to make my Legendary!”

And you know that scavenger hunt that is coming sometime in the 2nd half?

“Thx anet for the precrsors but now all the lonestones and t6 mats are high now. So now we are no better off than without the scavenger hunt. Please fix?!?!?!?!”

I know that will happen but that scavenger hunt is still a good idea. A precursor is far too expensive to be given by chance like that. I prefer my RNG to be applied to many small value items it feels more fair.

The thing I was most disappointed by was that they didn’t fix the problems with getting the materials for making our own Runes and Sigils. People are STILL being cutoff from getting Lodestones and the like for their gear and this above all needs to change big time. I also expected the changes to improve the salvaging of greens and blues so as to improve what one received right now it doesn’t matter which kit you use salvaging produces the same results on blues and greens and makes them completely useless for anything.

I would have hoped for a way of gathering these kinds of T6 mats or at least having a vendor for them directly instead of relying on the crafting bag RNG for them to drop.

Now that i’ve had a chance to look at the stats on the gear for celestial equipment I do like how they’ve allowed us to make this kind of gear (which seems to be more for ele/engi/mesmer than any of the other classes) so I do like that. And I do like how they plan on keeping the market as a permanent addition that was a clear improvement over the last LS updates.

If you don’t want to unlock something, you don’t need to open the chest.

Unfortunately, you do …

If you do not select a skin, you cannot get the rest of the chest items, and the chest does not go away. You then have this annoying and never ending chest bouncing animation going on in the corner of your display …
