RIP City of Heroes
Disappointed in April Fools
RIP City of Heroes
Excelsior.
I am very happy there are companies out there not overdoing this nonsense. April’s fool is just stupid and annoying. Pranks are supposed to be funny but enough is enough. This might apply in certain environments like schools, but when I am doing my everday’s life stuff, I do not want to read fake newspaper articles, random stuff in video games or TV programmes and such.
It’s amazing how many ressources many companies have for such a short-lived nonsense – the same companies talking about not having these ressources in the first place. April 1st is like kindergarden stuff people never grew out of for some reason and I am happy when it’s over..
and politically highly incorrect. (#Asuracist)
“We [Asura] are the concentrated magnificence!”
Again, that’s what happens when you ask your designers and programmers to focus more on an expansion.
Cuts have to come from somewhere.
True enough. What is more important, additional content in a game mode that’s only around for 3 weeks out of the year or work targeting Fractals, LWS3 and a future expansion? It’s about priorities.
To be honest? Fun content that is only around for 3 weeks of the year. It brings fun to a game, and a smile to faces. It shows that there may be more important things to life than simple work. Pleasure is also a very important part of the mix.
If anything, Guild Wars has turned way too serious the last years. A good April Fools joke gives something to simply laugh about. No strings attached.
I remember one specific April Fools’ Day joke from Guild Wars 1.
I was making huge Barbaric looking warrior to my new character. I skip tutorial part and load up to Shing Jea Monastery in Factions, and I was a little Gwen Doll. First impression was “What Just Happened?” Then I saw thousands of Gwen Dolls around of me.
That was awesome prank.
