Do moderators get paid to mod these forums?

Yes they are arenanet employees.
I believe the community coordinators & moderators actually work for a 3rd party company employed by ANet. They are meant to be the bridge between the GW2 forums (aka player community) and the GW2 staff. Why would be why anytime somebody has a genuine question on the forums, they run to go and get a designer to answer it rather than hundling us directly.
So I’d guess they are paid for it yes.

No serious company would use “volunteers” in these times and days to moderate an official forum. That was good like 10+ years ago maybe, and even then I don’t remember that except on sub par indie game forums.
As a paying customer, I definitely don’t want to be moderated by amateurs/volunteers. It would feel like going to a restaurant, and the waiters are fly ridden beggars randomly recruited through the city streets.

No idea but the “Mods” are more like the Gestapo. They don’t even interact with the community to join in on the discussions. All we get is “This topic is closed” and variations of that. Why can they not join in on the chats like the blizzard community managers do? If i were them i would take a trip over to the wow community forums to learn how to treat their community.
Ps. To the employees, I have nothing personal against each of you just the way the forum is run(i understand it has been handed down from a higher level)
This is exactly how I feel. I try to contribute to a conversation and my entire fact filled, helpful post gets removed because of a perceived and imagined attitude.

More tact and diligence needs to be applied before you delete posts.
I never see any moderator take time to answer a beginners question, or a struggling players question. Ban/Delete the posts of players who are answering and helping and all you will have left is ..well.

ANet frowns upon call-outs. It is found in their terms and conditions.

You are going to get infracted for this. If Anet is telling them to do what they are doing then Anet has extemely poor ideas about how to handle the forums. People get infracted and thread deleted for no reason.
The moderators ban/delete troll posts too. To the difference of some “third party” forums, here you can talk about the game without being disrupted by people who hate it and don’t even play it anymore. That’s a good thing.
And yeah, Killul is right… even more because the second post of the thread is breaking the Godwin Law already. People get infracted and banned because they break the rules, and insulting the moderators (which the second post obviously did) is not permitted by those rules.

If you’ve read my posts, you would know I am far from a fanboy.
OP had a post deleted. So he raged about it by making a thread about moderation and infractions, which in turn will get his thread deleted. And it did.
So he did it again. Made yet another thread with the same thing and it got deleted again. But that wasn’t enough for him, no, he had to do it again. So he makes yet another thread about the same thing with the same message.
He is spamming. Simple as that. We don’t need 3-5 threads from him on the exact same thing over and over again. Post was deleted. Get over it. Don’t spam the forums with your complaints about it, just move on.
