The drop is lousy, very demotivating. for me is the worst game, I have more than 5000 h. game, and I never left anything for example the precursor … then you can spend all day playing doing whatever or an exotic leaves that does not make sense the magic finding is the worst scam out there, nothing is noticed, the more you have worse things out …

I would point out the 5000 hours played.
If after a couple of hundred hours you where not enjoying it or 1000 hours you still where not happy I would question why put in 5000 hours which is several hours each and every day since launch.

Agreed. drop chances I find “fun” in other games. in this game it’s just a steady source of gold to buy the things i want. no fun involved at all in loot tables. (I still enjoy the game, but better loot tables would improve it more for me)

Druid main, 80 on all, Legendary ranked, Eternal and all that jazz (I go by Feyris in game)

One thing that gets me is when people post how many hours they have played, yet fail to post what they’ve been doing for those hours.
Of your 5000+ hours, how many of them were actively spent farming or killing mobs?
How many were spent mindlessly milling around town crafting or browsing the Trading post?
How many were spent waiting for events to spawn?
Once you break it down it doesn’t seem to be that much, and I’m guessing the people that get multiple exotic drops & precursors don’t do world boss jumps, but actually spend hours farming.

I believe in a long, prolonged, derangement of the senses in order to obtain the unknown.

There are a few things you need to be aware of if you’re trying to get a precursor to drop.

Firstly the drop rate is intentionally very low, they were always intended to be some of the rarest drops in the entire game.

Secondly they only drop from specific places. You have to be over level 60 to get exotic drops at all and since all precursors are level 80 and drops scale to your level you’re far more likely to get them if your character is level 80, or at least level 78.

They also only drop from specific places – enemies and chests that can drop level 80 exotic items. So any time you’re doing anything else, for example standing around chatting to friends, getting to a vista or POI, crafting, gathering crafting materials, scouting in WvW, killing enemies in PvP etc. etc. your chance of getting a precursor is 0.00%, it will never happen.

Therefore the number of hours you’ve played isn’t an accurate way of judging whether you ‘should’ have gotten one yet or not because you might have spent most of that time doing things that have absolutely no chance of ever giving you a precursor.

On the other hand you might have spent most of that time doing things that could get you a precursor and been extremely unlucky. We don’t know and I doubt you could say accurately. I certainly couldn’t say how many times I’ve opened chests, killed enemies etc. that could have given me a precursor.

I would point out the 5000 hours played.
If after a couple of hundred hours you where not enjoying it or 1000 hours you still where not happy I would question why put in 5000 hours which is several hours each and every day since launch.

I think it’s a valid point. If the game had been out 2 full years (730 days), which it hasn’t, the OP would have to have been playing for almost 7 hours a day, every single day, to reach 5,000 hours played.

It’s entirely possibly they have played for 5,000 hours already but it would be a big commitment and it does seem strange to put that much time into a game you’re apparently not enjoying at all. So unless the OP is some type of masochist it’s likely there is more going on here. My guess would be they actually do enjoy the game most of the time and the drop rate has only recently been a real issue.

of the 3 precursors i have been witness to dropping.

1 was from a trash flame legion in Iron marches. (Dusk)
1 was from Trash mob during the escort the pact event to rally in Straights of devastation. ( dawn)
1 was from a trash mob in cursed shore ( MInstrel )

(shrug)
just something to add to your thought process.

Every game day from 6h to 10h, over 800 gold medals in yellow in the forge, farming back every day and arrives at the conclusion that if I want something I have to buy, because the drop is a shame the game is the first game that has a fall so low habrir 200 boxes of champions and only 2 yellow, and the exotic 1 time per month …

Unless I’m misinterpreting what TC was trying to say (certainly possible), what was said is “I’m finding the drop rates to be frustrating/the drop rates are the worst part of the game”. That’s a far cry from “I’m not enjoying the game”. If the former is the case, Yargesh’s jump to defense was premature and unwarranted.
