Drops. Cursed Shore..some stats.
Did you run through CS, or stay in one area? That might affect total drops over time, although 39 minutes does not seem like it should trigger DR.
Anecdotal, but when I run through CS I generally get drops from better than 49% of the mobs. However, 22 HMB seems a touch high based on past experience there. I also harvest nodes, which tends to increase my time there, as well as my income. last run through I spent about 90 minutes and banked ~3g, which included selling a bunch of T5 gems to the merchant because they are worthless at the TP but sell for over 1s each to the merch.
Then there’s the question of whether the original intent for CoF P1 was for 10-11 runs to be done by sub-optimal groups. I suspect not, but who knows. So why does ANet do nothing about CoF? I suspect it’s because they dislike bots and gold farmers more than they dislike players making gold, and botting COF P1 is not likely.
As I personal hate CoF I used to farm cursed shore once for my first legendary (I never farmed for the following legendarys anymore).
I used to get 6-10 gold per hour at cursed shore. And no, this was not before event spawn time was nerfed. According to your messurement u really suck or I am a cursed shore farm god.
I understand and completely agree OP, what you described is pretty much what i experienced every time I logged in. I’ve since been waiting on the sidelines watching what will happen next with their salvage revamp and their mission to make greens and blues more valuable a commodity, and their new rewards system once it’s in game before I make a determination. If DR and the loot nerfs they implemented in November continue to affect my account as they have for months now when these new systems are in place I’ll definitely make a report about it.
But even with the proper changes to the drops and thus to the economy, there’s still a ton of things wrong with the combat, lack of ui elements, and lack of lower-mid level zone crossover of players that will need to be addressed as well as the imbalance in PVE between the professions and the separation of the easy dungeon runs and the heroic dungeon runs before this game catches up to the rest of the mmo universe under the hood.

I used to get 6-10 gold per hour in Cursed Shore too. Now I Get this. That was my point. I farmed 500g for Volcanus and t3 armor in CS. That was over three months ago.
Now. This is what I get. Why not go back and see how much of a farming god you are now?
The conclusion is that CoF rewards too much, I agree
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

Yes, I’m glad someone else identified the true issue here.
Therefore:
“Playing the game” for 39 mins = 67 silver 39 copper.
Thats really bad, you can make more money at the moment just with gathering in Dredgehaunt cliffs
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I always thought arenanet would crush a player’s income stream. The fact that COF hasn’t been nerfed is surprising to me. There must not be a lot of people farming COF.
Any normal person would go insane if they had to watch the same movie 10 times a day.

If you had gone back to CS before posting this, you’d know that the drops in Orr have been nerfed so hard it’s not even worth it to farm there anymore.

I think Cursed Shore was over-nerfed too. I’d have thought that having players doing cooperative DEs together in Orr would be more preferable to Anet than players running endless 5-mans thru the same dungeon path.

All my friends in game I met through loitering in shelt/pen during downtimes.
That seemed to kill the community spirit with all these nerfs.

I disagree with this, after a long break from being in CS I went back these last two weekends as found the loot to be rather surprisingly good. For example, yesterday I got three rares from one plinx run, and many others from the shelter/pent/jofast camps, me and another person in my group both got an exotic drops (1 each). Also got a lot of moldy bags so al bunch of T6 mats and dragon coffers (got a jade weapon ticket). HOWEVER I do realize the pent/jofast/shelter events do not pop as often as they did, but if you expand what events you do (all contested wps, plinx, pirate, escort mia, and the other events) you can keep pretty much active all the time. I have seen more people in CS recently, so it is possible others are getting decent lot as well. This is just my opinion based on about 10 hours of doing CS events this each of these past two weekends in full MF gear and in full groups.
I don’t know man.
Any hardcore farmer for the past 6 months knows that the events right now are not worth it and your gold/h is pathetic.
Most of the events do not last long, spawn enough mobs or have an appropriate respawn timer to stay around and farm.

We tried this before but no one updated it,

Sadly you might aswell forget anywhere south of LA exists in the game, Anet know its dead down there, they made it that way, they have no intentions on fixing it, if it wasn’t for WvW me and most of my friends would have quit, and the drops in WvW suck bad.
You ignore the fact that Cursed Shore doesn’t require you to party with 4 other people to make that money, that fact alone is worth it to me. Just like in most zombie movies, its the living people that get you killed more often than the undead ones.
Also your kill rate seems very slow, my ele can nuke down a risen in a few seconds. Are you wearing all magic find gear?
There needs to be a complete rethink of what end game players are doing. If Malchor’s, Straights, and Cursed Shore are all meant to be populated with many players running end game events, which seems to be the purpose of these zones, then the cumulative effect of all the changes seems to be counterproductive.
– Karma rewards for events are meaningless
– Experience rewards for events are meaningless
– Loot rewards are poor
– The skill base for zerging events is really low and zerg events are not much fun (better done in PvP)
– Any events needing more than zerg tactics fail too easily (design issue?)
– Risk that Arah never gets opened if the cursed shore population vanishes
– Splitting Orr into 3 event based zones leaves two of them short of end game population.
– Malchor’s and Straights will always be dysfunctional as end game event zones while they are below level 80.
– No achievements, minis, or cosmetic rewards for Orr events
– No daily completion in Orr
– Revamps of mobs often seem unpopular and untested
– No dancing chests for meaningless slaughter of trivial world events in Orr
Many of the changes to Orr seem to have been designed to move the player base from Orr into other areas. That seems to have been too successful and I can’t see why the designers no longer want the endgame played in the zones that were designed to be the endgame event zones.
Personally I have stopped hunting Orr mobs for loot – you get better loot from random world events and their mobs in the other low level zones. 40 mins like the example above you can get 5-10 yellows depending on luck. But of course that is with its own limitations.
What sucks the most is also as shown – 50% of the mobs give nothing. Why?! Not even a porus bone?! A moldy finger?!
ANET should give us a Hardcore Cursed Shore zone which scale up all regular mobs to veterans with guaranteed loot and all veterans to champions. It’d be hard as kitten but at least it would give cursed shore some meaning.
I used to play in CS rather than the world boss hopping that so many people do (myself included now) as the reward for play was comparable and there was a strong sense of community there. I joined my current guild because I enjoyed partying up with the GM of that guild. I actually met a lot of people in CS and had a lot of fun.
Today, finding a rare is extremely rare in CS. So rare that you wouldn’t go there if you were looking for reward for play. Boss-hopping is the only way to experience reward for play (in terms of the extrinsic reward of loot) in the game. Sadly, it doesn’t foster the same sense of community that the old CS did. I miss the Orr of the January update.

there was a place called “gwauns valley” or something like that in mount maelstrom.
a small place filled with fast respawning champions. it was awesome!
you killed a lot less mobs, but the champs lived long enough for everyone to tag and each of them gave a guaranteed drop.
it still gave (considerably) less gold per hour than CoF but nevertheless Anet felt the nerf to destroy the spot…
which is a shame; it was great to have a farm spot that was not Orr or CoF.

I can see why they would nerf a spot that had fast respawning enemies as this would bring bots in seeing as they wouldn’t have to move,
Anets problem was, sorry there excuse for destroying CS, was down to bots farming the events, so they may the events more annoying and only spawn once a day it would seem, and now the 100’s of enemies drop no loot at all, and the champ that is scaled way above where it should be will now drop you a blue, they hands down killed the zones, because “you played the way you wanted” not the way Anet wanted, clearly someone on the dev team is a hardcore COF farmer, hence why it hasn’t been nerfed yet, I had a friend ran it over 2000 times and bought his legendary outright as it was faster than trying to farm for the mats that anet removed from the game, IS THAT HOW ANET INTENDED FOR US TO PLAY.
There idea was that you would log in, do an event, get 1 silver reward, use 3 silver to WP across game world to do another event, and so on and so fourth, point is, if people are down in CS farming there not spending $$$$$$$$ on gems, which is what they want, so they killed the areas,
Look how many topics are on these forums about this exact problem, and the number of people its driving away from the game, and the REFUSE to acknowledge there is a problem.
As soon as the new FF comes out later this year, GW2 is dead to me, Anet/NCSoft have ruined a game that I have played for over 8 years now, down to out right greed.
As to OP’s point, it’s worth noting that I’ve spend an hour doing events in Orr and have gotten about the same or more than the equivalent of one CoF run (I rarely do CoF for various reasons). The two events that are worth it are the entire Melandru opening chain and the gates of Arah chain. I do agree that running CoF is more profitable over the long run though.
