Are there any plans to implant Wow like 1 vs 1 duels?
It is a great time sink when waiting for something in-game.

This is something i would love to see in Guild Wars 2.

We had another mount thread last week so I suppose we were due for this. No thank you to open world duels.

As with the multitude of other threads started on this I say no.

You can do 1v1 duels at your hearts content in your own custom arena.

Spend 1600 gems, invite your friends, knock yourself out.

Wait, What? When?? reference please because i have seen absolutely NOTHING regarding Anet saying they will add them (quite the contrary actually).

I personally dont see the point of them. go into Pvp and duel…but I definitely don’t want the constant “player X would like to dual y/n” on my screen.

They have to add this and other new pvp features/pvp zones to the game, or majority of players will move to other new mmos. There’s no other choice than adding new features for the future of the game.

Majority of wvw and pvp community left the game. My entire wvw guild and many wvw raid guilds moved to other mmos. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one stays in the game from old wvw/pvp community. As long as the game prioritise pve and casual players, it will lose many more.

I like dueling for the most part, but, what I don’t like is that your opponent has the ability to adjust their build specifically to fight you. i.e. if you are a condi build and go to duel a warrior, they will bust out every condi clear they have and readjust traits if possible in order to secure a victory. WvW should be like sPvP in that you can’t change your skills except at the beginning of a match, only it would be you can only change your skills at your keep.

As long as I, and others, who are not interested in participating have the ability to auto-decline duel requests, or be toggled to not be viable for challenge in the first place, I support the request for dueling in the open world.

I don’t understand why people are against duels, I like them as a way to kill time with friends when waiting for open world events. If they aren’t here I’ll still live, but I don’t understand why some people are so against it, can one of you that are so against it please elaborate as to why you are?

As with the multitude of other threads started on this I say no.

It’s entirely optional. I think there are a ton of players that would absolutely love this feature. Those that doesn’t bother with it, doesn’t have to use it.

ANets response to this in the past has been that the PvP is balanced around teamplay and not 1v1, and thus there can be no duels. I find this to be borderline idiocy.

First time involved this kind of discussion and I already have a feeling you’re right. I don’t know how duels worked in wow but during the first month I’ve desperatly looked for a sparringsytem to help me with:
-learning the influence of my abilities on a potential enemy in pvp (net really easy to figure out if you have to face rank 12543534 solo roamer or lag your way through a zerg. Different gear in the mist doesn’t help either).
-comparing builds
-picking up basic movement and aim abilities required for pvp.

I don’t see how this could hurt anyone. If you don’t like it, then just don’t do it?

First of all,duel is not Pvp,there is HUGE difference.Duel is supposed to give u something to do wile u wait for something else.I cant go do pvp wile wait for some1 to join dungeon right?I cant pick person i want to duel it,i cant duel my friend cause we play on same server so dont compare WvW or PvP with duels.As for your question “when did arena net said that” they did said on PAX 2013 and u can find it on youtube.As u dont want duels,same like that i want it.I dont think that people should lack of content just cause some people dont want it.
