Americans will get payed by $
Europeans will get payed by €

Euro is stronger than Dollar.

Solution= Gold. Give them money in Gold..
Give them around 33 grams of gold that is around 1k$ and both America and Europe will get equal prize.

This is maybe their first competition. And they are making a huge mistake with prize.
It is a big insult to the Americans…

But how much are goods in Europe? If they cost more, then the Europeans aren’t really benefiting more are they? If Europeans get 2 times more money from the contest, but a loaf of bread is 2 times as much as it is here, they aren’t getting anymore money in reality.

The prize is 500 per team, so…100 per player. It’s free.

You can always transfer to an EU server, and get paid in Euros. Then, pay to convert it to USD, or spend it in the EU. =)

That’s exactly not how it works. If 1€ equals 1.25$, then that means that if you own 1€ you can buy just as much as you can buy with 1.25$. So, if a loaf of bread is 1€ in Europe, the same loaf would be 1.25$ in America. You can basically exchange 1000€ for 1000 loafs of bread then, but 1000$ will only be worth 800 loafs of bread, and you’d actually need 1250$ for 1000 loafs.
This is only a simplified version and it’s a lot more complex in reality of course. But it’s more or less the general idea behind currency exchange.

If your example was true, everyone would be buying cheap bread for $ in America, sell it for double price in Europe, exchange the earned € for $, repeat and get infinitely rich.

Bread is not important because there is internet. We can buy from Ebay, Amazon, Or travel with that money in another country and spend it. So they are getting a lot more money…
The prize is a spit on their face. A big insult.

yes we do, quite heavily so.
it’s the same amount of dollars or pounds,
despite pounds being worth a lot more. (£1 = $1.6) so we pay 60% more.

I think that you can bypass that gem scam that they have implemented…
Once they have put discount on gw2 but not for everyone, so my friend took german IP and it looked like he bought gw2 from germany.
I think that you can do that with gems. In that way you will spare a lot of money…

Well it seems like they love to discriminate people, so nothing will change.

The clear solution is to pay teams 2300000 dogecoins. Then they can even advertise the tourney as a “2 million (doge)coin weekly tourney”

Nah, I would prefer 10^18 Zimbabwean dollar tournaments

Zimbabwean dollar would also fit the state of pvp in GW2

People do that left right and center. Have you never wondered why 90% of your household items and clothes are produced in poorer countries?

I went on a business trip to India 2 years ago. Exchanged some euros for rupees so I could go shopping. I bought a 3-color silk saree as a present for my sister. It cost me ~15 euros (~ $20). That is several meters of woven silk with gold patterns in. A similar product costs upward of $300 when you purchase it in the US.

I also got a saree for myself and had the blouse custom tailored. The money the tailor took for his work was about 50 cents. That’s about what I pay for my plastic shopping bag in a German supermarket.

So, that is really not how it works at all. You CAN get rich by exchanging currencies, and actually, your and my general first world wealth and quality of life only exist because people on the other end of the currency exchange are much poorer, in both absolute AND relative terms.
