EU and lags
There will always be people that have issues.
That is just the nature of online-games.
The real widespread issues started quite recently and was fixed rather fast. I have had a couple of days (now and then) with basically unplayable lag, but other than that it has been fully playable.

Which server do you play on and what country do you live in? It might not be Anet’s fault, it could be your internet or your chosen server.
Ever since I moved my connection became a lot worse, but it’s probably because the internet where I live now is just worse. Most of the time my connection is fine though especially in sPvP, dungeons and other small instances. Open-world PvE is by far the worst offender when it comes to lag and crashes.
I live in The Netherlands and I played on Tarnished Coast and now on Blackgate (both NA servers).

Poland, Gunnar Hold. And that issue is not on my end. GW2 is the olny game where i actually experience lags. If it was something with my connection then i would be lagging elsewhere (im playing fps games as well) but thats not the case. Also as i said i mostly lag during primetime. Year ago when i left this game i dindt had any issues with lags.
And lol at this forum errors “Sorry, this area isn’t available yet. Please check back later.”
Using port 80 rather than the traditional ‘gaming’ port solved it for me. Seems the heavy network throttling sacrifices gamers to make sure youtube works. Make a shortcut to the gw2.exe, and in your shortcut, replace the “gw2.exe” command by “gw2.exe /clientport 80”.
The game has been unplayable for me for over 3 months until i discovered this sometime in autumn, and it fixed all my lag overnight…
Save the Bell Choir activity!
And yet if the issue were on server-side everyone would be effected, which doesn’t seem to be the issues.
In many cases the issues seems to be localized to specific ISP with faulty lines and such.

Will give it a try later.

I have seen that thread and if you read it you will see that there are posts that suggests exactly what I said. That the issues was with their provider rather than the servers themselves.
It is also a very tiny part of the forums that is writing there and even the part using the forums at all is minuscule.

Have you tried a VPN? They can help with latency or sudden lag spikes.

Except my provider is fine in this situation. As i said year ago i dindt had any troubles. Its odd that the olny game that lags for me is GW. I have seen ppl ingame complaining about it as well

I tried Wtfast with no result.
Anyways going off for now.
The latency I’m experiencing in this game seems to be mostly happening on skills. Movement is smooth, but as soon as I use shadowstep, it takes a second for the action and to happen. I’m sure this is a because of my location and the local ISP. but, what bugs me is that it doesn’t happen to all my friends on the same ISP.. I’m from the philippines btw.. Playing at server Isle of Janthir. I’m hoping to get around this problem.
The lag for me and numerous other guild mates on Aurora Glade is terrible. We enter a Dungeon or a Fractal and the lag becomes so bad that the game is unplayable. Tonight we tried a fractal and none of us stayed connected to the server. We all DC’d numerous times throughout one run.
This needs to be fixed ASAP as there is no point in playing the game.
Is this lag ever going to end. I cant even play PvE. Is it being fixed or naw.
