Q:

Has anyone compiled a list of the easiest jumping puzzles? I’m terrible at them, so it would be helpful to me.

My vote would be for King Jalis’s Refuge, in Snowden Drifts. I was able to complete it without a portal, without a guide, without looking up the YouTube video. And it’s short!

But the easiest has to be the building puzzle around the portal in southsun cove.

The one in LA where you have to find some false walls, easily avoid some moving spikes and then a short area where the lights go on and off. Hint use an AOE reticle to provide some lighting. There is also a weapon karma vendor at the end, level 40 pirate gear I believe.

I turn up the Gamma settings until I can see the outlines of everything. Not pretty but it’s bearable for the length of time this takes after the lights go out.

Conundrum Cubed is very short and easy once you know the jumps. It has a lot of red herrings you can avoid.

As others said, Pearl Islet and Urmaug’s secret are easy. I’d suggest learning Urmaug’s if you just want to do one for dailies, since it’s free to travel to. I do Obsidian Sanctum for dailies, but it’s by far one of the hardest.

Also every time I kill the Dredge Commissar, I do the Tribulation Rift Scaffolding puzzle, so that has become quite easy for me. It also has some red herrings though. It’s a good puzzle to do for daily puzzle discoverer since it has a second puzzle you can just discover at the end of the first one.

To me, the easiest are:

- Pearl Islet (Southsun Cove) short
- Sleive’s Inlet (Caledon Forest) easy jumps, no pressure
- Shaman’s Rookery (Wayfarer Foothill) as long as you avoid the ravens, super easy
- King Jalis’ Refuge (Snowden Drifts) it has like 6 jumps in total
- Vizier’s tower (Straits of Devastation) once you figure out how to start it, the rest is cake.

What makes the Queensdale JP not so easy (at lower char lvls at least) are the oozes and vet oozes at the end.

Easy ones, what Pixelpumpkin said plus Urmaug’s Secret in LA
(havnt done Vizier’s Tower, so dont know about that one though)

I agree this one can be a pain at lower levels. There are a fair amount of mobs about, especially if you go the wrong route. The oozes at the end can be difficult to deal with because there are a lot of them close together which makes it hard to pick them off one by one. Then there are I think two/three veterans in close proximity as well. The jumping part is easy though once you know the route.

I find the easiest ones are simply the ones I have done the most. Then you never have to stop and think about where to turn for the “correct” path.

I find the Eternal Battlegrounds puzzle very easy because I have done it so many times pursuing badges for a legendary. As long as there are no enemy players I breeze right through it…

Funny though. The first few times I did it I thought it was an endless, impossibly difficult nightmare…LOL.

I guess that is part of the jump puzzle I never noticee. I never took the time to actually look around the room. I killed enough to clear the path, ran to the chest before respawn and got out of there or die and WP out.

Heck the first time I went to that puzzle I took the path to the left and found that small chest. I thought I was done but latter found out it was a decoy.

(That’s the one by the waterfall in the NE corner of LA)

I cheated and looked at the video walk-thru of Urmaug’s Secret. Speaking as a kitten-poor jumper, It looks a jillion times harder than King Jalis’s Refuge, and an order of magnitude longer.

Most of you folks probably grew up with MMOs. I’ve been playing them for about 19 months, and I’m 58 years old. It took me forever to graduate from WASD. And recently I’ve figured out that I was crippling myself because apparently I had internalized Newtonian physics so much that I wasn’t even trying to jump around corners. kitten that education!

Not complaining, not whining, just saying there are reasons I’m so bad at jumping. I’ll deal with it. :P

OK, I just did it. Urmaug’s Secret is only a little harder than King Jalis’s Refuge, although I don’t think I could have figured out how to start without previewing the video walk-thru.

I don’t know it’s name, but there’s one in SE Gendarran Fields that isn’t about jumping as much as it is doing little fights and getting a secret underwater passage opened up. Definitely need to watch a YouTube vid though, to find out what to do and where to look.

If you are high enough level to get there, go to Orr and acquire the EXPERIMENTAL RIFLE: http://dulfy.net/2013/01/16/gw2-useful-and-fun-consumables-guide/#3b

It allows you to make jumps like the Engineer’s Rifle skill “Jump Shot”. I find it very handy. I bought 50 to begin with (they are SOULBOUND and last about 5 minutes or until you try to make an “impossible” shot.) With the Jumping Puzzles as a Monthly Achievement, I decided to go back and make it a whole stack of 250. (You’ve gotta complete 3 events before the Vendor will sell them to you. And she only sticks around for about 5 minutes. So I figured I may as well stock up instead of having to go through all that again.)

*Urmaug is insanely easy and short.
*Pirate dungeon in LA is easy once you get it but kinda long. Bring flamethrower or pistols for lighting.

  • the one in Southsun is extremely easy, short and accessible.

Others always have something against them, being longish, not obvious on first sight or well hidden. But once you get them, they’re all rather easy.

I believe every player has one or the other puzzle that should be easy but isn’t.

I personally can’t stand half the jumps in Urmaug’s Secret :P and as for the spiral in Caledon Forest, I know it’s easy, but I still fall. Every. Time. Both of them are among my least favourite jumping puzzles (while I have no problem running medium or high difficulty ones like the Branded Mine).

I would also add Chaos Crystal Cavern to the list of easy ones. You can easily avoid the chaos storms, or if you get hit by one and have an effect that you don’t like, just stand there until you get something better. (My boyfriend hates that one with a passion, though.)

I defy anyone to find an easier JP than this: http://dulfy.net/2012/10/08/gw2-buried-archives-cursed-shores-jumping-puzzle-guide/

There are no jumps! Just scramble up fungus, no worries about falls. The only problems are making it to the start, and fighting off the guards to get the loot.

If you are a thief, that last bit is not so challenging: do stealth, get your reward, and leave.

I’d say Urmaug’s and Shaman’s Rookery (particularly if you have stability – makes that one pretty trivial.) Most aren’t too bad, though, especially with a bit of practice; timed ones like the Skipping Stones are toughest for me.

Depends a bit on your race as well though, I can’t make myself do the puzzles on my Norn because aaaauuuughhhhh.

Easiest is somewhat subjective depending on:

  • The race you play – Norn and Asura are my toughest, I do not have a Charr so cant speak to that one.
  • Your jumping skill – I hated them in the beginning but have warmed to them a bit as my skill level went up. Never did any game with Platform Jumping before, so this was a start from scratch thing for me.
  • Network lag – Upgraded connection and this issue went away.
  • Graphics card – This issue affected me more then any other. If you are having problems with JP’s maybe this time and this time only…It’s NOT all about you.

The first one I tried was Urmaug’s since I saw someone run in there as I was crossing the bridge, by the time I got in the cave they were gone. I thought hmmmm, I figured there was something strange about that cave so i checked it out some more. As I was exploring someone else came in and I saw the path they took. A few falls in the first couple of jumps but no biggie I was ready to test my meddle on that precarious spire in the middle of the cave.

Over and over and over… I could not seem to stick on the top. Then I finely made it, only to fall jumping off the spire. Anger rising, man I really suck at this, so I left.

Over the next month I took all 5 of my characters of different races and professions in that cave, all with the same result. Either I fail jumping on to the Spire or jumping off it. At one point I finely made it to the next platform after the spire and took a running jump to the following one… you guessed it, down I went. Luckily my entire desk would not fit out my window or I would have had a pile of splintered wood and twisted metal to clean up in my yard.

At this point I now hate Jumping Puzzles and avoid them at any cost for the next month or so. After seeing the grace and ease at which others would just blow by me, I started to question my ability and my sanity.

Then a funny thing happened. I bought a new Graphics card. Ahhhh a new world of beauty and wonder Tyria had become with higher Video Settings.

A few days later the thought came to me while running around LA. Hmm, lets see if anything has changed in the cave. So off the the dreaded Spire I go and BAM I stick the landing on the top. Now if I can just jump off this dreaded thing, success! What the??? Next column and the next and the next, straight up to the top.

So it seems that due to the issues with my graphics card, where it looked like I was starting or ending my jump was different from where the Game said I was, making accurate jumping impossible.

So buck up little campers. Maybe you are not as sucky as you think you are.
Then again… Who am I to say

Sorry but the easiest is the one in Shiverpeak Mountains (Shamans Rookery), an extremely accessible waypoint, low level area, straight short jump path in an open cavern (4-5 jumps) and two very simple mobs at the end.

Some people might be kitten ed of at the birds knocking you down but hey you’ll circumvent the first part by using swiftness to jump to the rich copper node (daily gathering thank you) or if you have stability avoidance skills just running thru them.

Here is an online video thats 50s long bu the puzzle itself is doable in less.

Barring the fact that it is hard as kitten to actually get to, mechanically speaking Buried archives is the easiest true ‘jumping puzzle’ in that all you’re doing is walking and running.

The catch though, is that there are dozens of 80 Risen mobs across the place on the base platforms. You won’t get harassed when jumping but those running spaces between the jumping sections do require lots of evasiveness or outright killing, and there is actually a nasty clump of risen at the end around the chest.
