EoTM most popular content in GW2.
Yeah I spend most of my time in EOTM. I just wish Anet would give some love to it. I have 45k badges of honor now, and I must say, even with the abundance of badges, I feel there’s nothing really worth spending them on.
We don’t have an epic permanent reward track (like sPvP), or some truly unique armor skins (like dungeons) – and don’t tell me we have unique skins cause they cost next to nothing badges wise, no one wears them cause they look so lame, and the mists weapons? Only temporary content. You have to wait till the next tournament to have a chance at buying ONE skin, and even then it relies on your server – not how well YOU perform during the tournament.

EotM is basically the worst content in the game. Great for avoiding the horrid leveling experience though.
well if you ever want to find the least skilled players in the game, EOTM is the place to do it. and by that i mean be a guardian with a hammer and press 4.
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
It is not skilled, it is not overly interesting, but it is rewarding and that attracts players. The OP is right, it is some of the best content in the game because it actually has a lot of people actively playing it, which is the sole purpose of game content.
Do not forget Guild Wars 2 was marketed as casual friendly and EOTM is a casual friendly version of WvW, the games supposed end game content. No it does not require a lot of skill, but the average GW2 player does not have vasts amounts of skill, or looking for a challenge for that matter.
Personally I prefer doing other things in game but I do not have disdain for others for preferring content I have little interest in, like some people. Everyone who bought the game has a right to like what they want.
Just NO it’s brain dead zombie land what requiers -1 skills. 1 kitten necro can kill 50 ppl. Really do we need more brain dead trains. While WvW it self is dying faster then ever.
Stop being brain dead moran running after blue torrito and pressing 1111111.
oh come on, like average WvW is not a braindead zergfest where bigger blop of players wins. There’s a good reason why EotM is much more popular than WvW, it’s exactly the same thing, but much more rewarding. I can just laugh that hardcore WvW players who are sooooo above EotM, yet they do the same thing.

Really? I don’t remember that at all. Skill based, non-trinity, non-grindy…these were the words used in pre-launch GW2 articles and ads. As far as I know Arenanet never stated that they were focusing on one crowd in particular.
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

True mate. It has become like this more and more. Whit no updates or any new things. At least i go down swinging bot bending over and letting my brain pulled out my kitten .
How can EotM be good content!?!? The idea was good I agree. Creating a Q boarderland were you fight while waiting in the Q. The points didn’t count for your server but whatehell we can fight + and it was all new and shiny. Now, if you go to EotM right now, you see 3 servers. 3 colours. 1 of the 3 colours owns 99% of the whole map. 90% of the whole blob is upscaled PvE scrubs. It’s one big karma vest. How can this be good content? Give us a new boarderland. Replace one of the boarderlands into something else. We have now 3 boarderlands that are basicly the same. Replace one of these with an official map. Leave the karma train in pve. Don’t bring pve in WvW. It’s annoying as kitten!

Just came in here to nitpick on irrelevant details: EotM wasn’t released ‘more than a year ago’ It was released February 4 this year. Which makes it a little over nine months.
So why ANet doesn’t create more contents like EoTM? They have the best example right in front of their eyes.
Because EoTM took a full year of development time to create…this is straight from the devs themselves….so they not going to do that very often!
I agree thou EoTM is great content. Much better than Dry Top or Silver Wastes which will be/are ghost towns after 1-2 months.

“Noob friendly” ?
“Less harsh map chat than wvw” ?
Ha! Not from what I’ve seen, and especially recently. Must be you been having a lot better luck with your instances I guess. I was in an instance on Sunday where more than half the zerg had the commander on their block list…and omg the chat. I wish I’d taken screenies of that ‘toxicity.’ I felt dirty just reading it, the way they were kittening at each other, at the commander, etc. I finally told everyone to shut it or EoTM would end up with the QD treatment. Was the only thing that finally brought it to an end. Fear of it getting nerfed into oblivion. Sad really.
It was so bad I’ve opted to go play hot joins and soloQ instead! (And people that know me know I don’t play that game mode……ever because of the attitudes there)

mindless zerg = profit, thats the population of skrits anet wants to be playing their games.
No brain, only need masses and spam.
edit: lol this sounded a little blunt after reading it.

Call down guys. Its not because you don’t like that content that it’s kitten. I don’t like that content, I hated it when my WvW raid leader brought the guild there a couple time. But still, if some ppl like it there is no reason to insult them.
- Its rewarding.
- You can play with a lot of friends
- It easy to get into
- It doesn’t need much skill so its perfect for ppl that don’t want to get into dungeon or sPvP.
- It’s just fun for some ppl.
No need to be kittens about it because you don’t like that content. WvW ppl want more love and content. Dungeon ppl want more love and content. sPvP ppl want more love and content. Open World ppl want more love and content. Guess want, EOTM ppl want more love and content too.
Guess want, EOTM ppl want more love and content too.
I’d prefer they actually work on real WvW, a game mode that needs the love a lot more than EOTM. Anet could make a map that consisted of 9 Skyhammer maps connected by rope bridges and if they put enough champs and “capture events” in there, people would play it 10 hours a day for the next 8 years because LOOOTZ!!!!
Let’s not pretend people are in EOTM for the content. They’re there for the low risk + high rewards and super-simplistic gameplay.

Personally, I WOULD LOVE that idea lol. I mostly play WvW and sPvP, so I prefer that Anet put their time on that content. But I know that other ppl play other content. We can’t just say that the content that we play need more love and more attention compare to another content, just because you don’t like that content or find that its easy content or that ppl only play that because of the reward.
I think my point stands: certain gamer archetypes have a much higher tolerance for low variety in content than others.
For example, if you purchased GW2 for competitive PvP game modes (sPvP, WvW) you are feeling preeeeeetty left out. EOTM was supposed to be a WvW expansion, but it didn’t really turn out that way.
I have no problem with people grinding boring content for loot, but that doesn’t seem like the highest-priority crowd to cater to. If you build them a new boring grind, either 1) they’ll all immediately move over to it if it’s more profitable than the current one, leaving EOTM empty or 2) nobody will move over to it if it’s less profitable than the current one, so what’s the point?

I’m sorry, but I’d rather have them spend time on a real WvW.
I would love to see anet put a pvE world boss in EoTM to make good use of the wasted space where the Aetherblades and troll are.
EotM is trash… it’s worse than the Queensdale Champ train ever was, and they nerfed that. xD
BY THE WAY: everyone saying that ArenaNet doesn’t look after WvW because WvW players don’t get them profits, you’re wrong.
One of the big parts of WvW and PvP is actually cosmetic: you want to have your own style, and you want to kill enemies in style. I saw a lot of WvW veterans playing with gem store skins, so really, don’t bother saying that PvE community (relatively) gets arenanet more money than WvW community. Living story doesn’t get arenanet money in any way, because nobody is paying for it…
(edited by Sirendor.1394)
In that sense livingstory does create profit cause of new skins that need to be applied using transmutation charges.
Really? I don’t remember that at all.
Then you perhaps have a selective memory.
If EotM were really the most popular content in GW2 (which is something only Anet knows), then I’m sure they’ve already thought about making more content like it.
we don’t need more content like it
they need to get people to split up on that giant map and end the karma train
etom is already a bad thing because it hurts EB/borderland population.

Yeah, if Eotm didn’t give www rewards, no one would mind it.
EotM needs better rewards. Like special EotM skinned ascended gear sets and weapons.

how do you know who is skilled and not skilled? did you 1v1 every player in EoTM and win?

EotM is only “popular” because time spent relative to rewards is very attractive to most players. EotM is popular for the reason that fast food joints are popular.
As a person who loved WvW but felt it was being ignored and largely unDEVeloped; I think EotM has made the situation worse. EotM would have served better as a Living Story zone map or other PvE style diversion.
Regular WvW is far more desolate and rewarding, the effort and time does not justify the results because the WvW maps are stagnant, repetitive and not engaging.
EotM, while being highly repetitive as well, offsets this with greater stream of reward compensation.
WvW needs more grit and more visceral action. DAoC and Warhammer Online had far more engaging and exciting Keep Sieges and Defenses in my opinion.
The Keeps in GW2 are simply too large to defend, but why bother anyway? Avoiding enemy players is far more rewarding in terms of efficiency.
Player versus Objective. It’s not WvW PvP, it’s PvO
etom is already a bad thing because it hurts EB/borderland population.
I’m just wondering how you figure EotM hurts EB/Borderland population? People who want to play EB/Borderlands will play there and people who have no intention of ever playing there but want to earn Badges and WvW exp. will play EotMs. Maybe I’m missing something?
I started going to eotm quite a bit recently for two reasons: first, karma was the only thing I needed to finish a legendary. Second, my server recently is destroying other servers. I prefer playing normal wvw, but when your server holds everything and always ticking 400-500+ PPT.. I actually feel guilty taking what little the other servers have left on their maps. Eotm is fun enough. It feels a lot like the frostgorge champ train (pre nerf), just something to do when you don’t know what to do, with good conversation in map chat.
Really? I don’t remember that at all.
Then you perhaps have a selective memory.
And perhaps you are lying and would rather go ad hominem instead of providing evidence, because you have none. See I can play that game too.

When someone who does not normally play WvW considers entering it they will more often than not first choose EotM
This new player will then try EB and Borderlands and find the rewards to be worse as well as the overall fights more difficult with smaller or outnumbered groups
Once that distinction is realized venturing into EB and Borderlands becomes pointless and more of an effort than the relaxed nature of EotM
For the most part those who still go to borderlands and EB are not worried with rewards and are veteran players who understand the mindless nature of EotM
EOTM is actually decent in concept , and it has more creative features than wvw. Unfortunately, the problem is extremely poor balancing, annoying terrain that doesn’t allow for good fights and also a rewards system that is better than regular wvw that causes trouble. But then again, I can’t really fault eotm for having decent rewards, it’s just that wvw rewards are bad.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

If EotM were really the most popular content in GW2 (which is something only Anet knows), then I’m sure they’ve already thought about making more content like it.
Which is more than likely why “The SilverWastes” is EotM like in it’s design.
It’s most popular cause it has pve rewards for all the scrubs.
EotM is the literally killing open World PvP in this game.
They need to remove kitten Karma gain and exp from it and put lvl 80 Restriction.
Game went downhill long enough

So wait … CtF (which the above is a version of) is not PvP or WvW?!
You might want to tell that to Call of Duty, and EVERY other FPS out on the market.
Capturing and holding a keep is conceptually the same as capturing a flag. If you’re railing against that I would argue you are not a PvP player … at all in any form.
Peace.
EotM has good rewards, not good content. The game is so reward starved that where ever a decent rewards pops up there will be people there to farm it.
