Currently, many events in this great game are ignored completely. Why? Because there is no incentive to do them.

Why would I go to kill the Champion Risen King when the nearby Shelter’s Gate event will give me the same gold/xp/karma and more drops with less difficulty?

What incentive is there for groups to kill the Champion Abomination other than to reset the Plinx chain? During the time it takes to kill him, you probably could have done something else with higher rewards.

Why should I go do the dragons when there is only a small chance to be massively rewarded, with a high chance of coming out with less gold due to waypoint costs and the low drop rate of rares from the chests?

Why would I bother grouping up to do a group event when it is no more rewarding than that easy event 20 feet away?

Guild Wars 2 has a problem – players are unwilling to do a large number of events because there is simply no reason to. None. The karma/gold/xp rewards for events needs to be reworked into categories based on time and difficulty and eventually tweaked on an event-by-event basis.

Dragons and Temples, for example should be rewarding at least 10 silver and 1k karma because of the difficulty, time, and waiting periods associated with them.

I agree, the dragon chests should always drop at least 1 exotic, 1 rare, and a buttload of bags with T6 mats in them because we have to wait so long usually for the events to unfold, and then the battles are epic boss fights essentially. The temples are the same way. If they are going to continue to impose the 5 man handicap to get these things rolling then we need to be adequately rewarded for the time we spend. That’s my biggest beef with this title right now, lack of reward for time spent. It’s like finding those chests out in the world right now, why bother opening them because you’re not going to find anything but blues and 2-3 silver. Why bother doing the jumping puzzles because at the end there’s nothing but vendor trash at the end of the line.

That’s a gross exaggeration. Rewards on that scale would only wreck the economy.
