"Expansion sized" patch
It is not a fact. 4 million sold copies is a bad state, yes… Guild Wars 2 is still the biggest MMO in the last 5, maybe ten years. So please don’t come up with things that doesn’t show anything.
Oh, you read the article?
“However, with the title still to launch in Asian territories, traditionally NCsoft’s strongest market, those numbers are expected to climb again soon.”
As I have mentioned earlier, GW2 has to compete with Blade&Soul which is big in China (and also NCsoft), which has not even released in the west.
GW2 is 18 monthes old, how many boxes do they still sell here in the west, what do you think. Where will the money to keep the game running come from?
From the few that think investing in the gem store is a good idea?
Numbers don’t lie, and I am fairly curious for early April, when most Asian companies start their next business year and give the numbers for the latter one.

If you’re not playing the game, why are you here on the forums constantly spewing negativity?
Probably because the game is not in a good state? He/she bought the game, he/she has as much of a right to state his/her opinion as you.
Who are you to judge people if they should or should not speak their minds.
The game not being in a good state is an opinion, not fact. I’m enjoying the game just fine. I think ESO and Wildstar are jokes of MMO’s. But hey, that’s just my OPINION.
Nope, it is a fact:

You can keep your opinion though, it’s all yours.
Where did you get that title? Did you make it up? This is the actual title of the article: NCsoft annual profits up 3% to $150m
I think any game’s revenue would be down compared to its launch quarter.
It is the official link to the article.
Well a decline is ok, but we are down to 1/5 in Europe, that is some serious loss.

Are you financial officer of NCSoft? No? So why you warry.
I don’t. ANet is pushing out updates in an incredible speed and I am satisfied with their work. Can we stop spamming this topic with nonsense stuff?

That’s the funny thing about statistics.
People only quote or view the numbers they feel will prove their point.
Looking at the entire financial statement of q4 for 2013 for NcSoft you would also read that their in game sales revenue for GW2 was down 25%. Not box sales revenue or any other IP/product their in game sales revenue.
GW2 survives on in game sales and in game sales alone now – not box sales. The game is a year old so its understandable that box sales would drop off substantially but their in game sales should not unless they are loosing players.
The biggest factor or thing people should be concerned with are these posts which are continually popping up everywhere. The simple point is the existence of such threads and the continual posting of them means there is an obvious problem in this game which needs to be addressed. Anet is far to quiet about what, how and when it does anything. I think some clarity to their consumers might at the very least buy them some time.

Not sure you checked our morphing abilities. Brilliant idea and definately synergy there.
I checked it. Synergy? Haha yes. I am talking about passive Synergy classes have got. WoW, Rift, GW2, everywhere. That’s what is missing in ESO and that is the point why the combat in TESO will alway feel wack and boring.
I’d argue to say that rift and wow’s combat is quite archaic. Nothing but a rotation waiting for procs.
God forbid, some people would try to see the whole picture.
Somtimes on this forums, I feel like I am surrounded by the three monkeys of Nikko, when obvious things should be obvious.
Well, if people say everything is ok, then everything must be ok. Good.

Both Rift and Wow’s combat mechanics are about 10x’s as complex as anything that GW2 offers.
Also, How difficult is it to mash buttons without worry of any type of resource management and stand in a corner and do nothing but dps till its dead? That sums up a good portion of GW2’s pve content.
GW2 is the most dumbed down of all games I have played. Keep in mind I started playing these games in the Merridian 59, Eq1 and UO days.
P.S. Apparently I quoted you fast enough before you deleted it lol.

If you are referring to this paragraph, ‘Territory-wise, the lack of releases also manifested in lower sales and revenues. In North America, quarterly revenue fell from ?71 billion ($67 million) to ?25 billion ($24 million) year-on-year, while European revenue fell from ?51 billion ($48 million) to ?11 billion ($10 million).’, this isn’t about GW2, but about the company as a whole. So, we really don’t know what GW2 alone did. Pretty sure the ‘lack of releases’ is a big clue.

2012 West:
GW2 → $112 million
NCsoft → $67 million + $48 million = $115 million
I am pretty sure that those $3 million dollars from other NCsoft titles in the west broke the camels back – seriously.

Just some food for thought.

It’s funny how WoW smashes all the other F2P MMORPGs despite the fact that it is subscription based…
I think there is a huge difference between the GW2 shop and other shops. We have no mounts and no insane amount of pets. If ANet would sell them, GW2 revenue would be over $100million for sure. But they don’t. At least the GW2 shop is less p2w than the SW:TOR one is.

Consumer wise – People spend money where they see value and or where they are comfortable.
Also, Don’t speculate . These numbers are not speculation but performance and once again GW2 is found lacking.

Something else to keep in mind about World of Warcraft is that it came onto the Market at a time when people were looking for something new that was different from Everquest and easier than the unforgiving FFXI. It also had the benefit of being a sequel to the very popular Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, games.
It was the right game, at the right time, and what’s more, everyone and their friend played it. That created a sense of community in that game. No one would be afraid of playing alone because their friends all played. No one would be afraid of an empty world, because a lot of people played. I think that has to be one of the major contributing factors to its continued prominence on the market. People feel secure in that kind of a community. No one is going to want to leave, because their friends won’t join them, because they have friends who still play, and why take a risk on a new game that might not even have a lot of people in it, so little chance to make new friends?
I was able to convince a lot of my WoW friends to get GW2 since it was subscription free, but unfortunately Anet dropped the ball when they removed the Holy Trinity and essentially turned the game into a massive zergfest at every turn. My friends ended up going back to WoW. I refuse to give Blizzard anymore of my money, so I’m sticking with GW2, but for the most part, I play alone or with a small handful of individuals, usually one at a time, here on GW2. If GW2 wasn’t free to play, I honestly wouldn’t play it.
