Q:
FPS MODE! And mods? Macros?
A:
We are allowed to SUGGEST that Anet adds these features yes. But we are NOT allowed to go out there to internet land to find any such mods/whatever advertised by third parties and start using them in game.
First person has been asked for since the very start of the game mainly because it was in GW1 and immensely made that game a lot easier to navigate around.
The suggestion forum was to hard to navigate, now you make suggestions under the relevant topics.
So long as a mod doesn’t alter the game code or provide an unfair advantage, it is allowed.
Unfortunately I don’t see there being any way to make a first-person mode without modifying the code. The zoom-out mod for example was a mod that allowed a larger field of vision, and a lot of people were banned for that it because it both gave an unfair advantage and messed with the game code.

What about a zoom in mod? It woudn’t be true FPS, but it would be perfect for screenshots and some instances (like the recent celebration one where you do absolutely nothing).
Speaking of FPS mode, I do hope we’ll someday get Oculus Rift support, even though it would probably be pretty ridiculous to actually play that way. (Go dodge rolling! )
Also speaking of FPS mode, I’d love an option to show a high-granularity frame rate display in-game without needing to leave the options window open.
Community sourced code actually provides a lot of the things we players have been asking for. Sad that Anet wont offer those code monkeys a job.
First person view was available during the EotM tests, I think. They have the option available on their test clients but I guess there are still some major issues with a PoV camera (e.g. wall clipping, orientation problems, effects overload, etc) which they could not resolve by now.
A landing you can walk away from just wasn’t fast enough.
Well let’s see what the March 24th announcement says about this. It’s titled “A New Way to Explore the Looks of Guild Wars 2”. I’m expecting both 1st person and Rift/Valve VR API compatibility.
Edit: what was my hands thinking when I typed world instead of person.
RIP City of Heroes

I’d love Oculus Rift support, but I just don’t see it happening. Dodge rolling would be amazing, but think about skills like pulls, rolls, leaps, etc. For example, the dagger elementalist skill 3 in the fire trait would be too fast. If it were something like SAO, then it would be amazing, but without doing the actions ourselves that would be too disorientating. Oculus Rift is really just a literal FPS mode, not true virtual reality.
Actually thieves would be destroyed by this. Especially some skills such as the d/d dual wield skill. How do you even picture that in FPS and continue fighting without the delay of turning around?
And about your second point, you could probably get that with dual monitors…. if the game supported them. One monitor for the menus, one for the game, and another maybe for the world map.

Oh god… I hope so. It’s probably something different, but I seriously hope so.

That only has one mod for GW2 :/ Thankfully it’s one that wouldn’t offer any advantage at all, but still. It’s not one I need or want.
