Feedback: Event loot nerfed
I don’t like TP flipping at all. Those guys do nothing but buying and selling stuff and yet get the most gold out of it, while people who play the game how it’s meant to be played earn less and less gold. Ofcourse, you could argue that making profit out of the TP requires some sort of skill. But I think those guys ruining enough in real life, they don’t have to ruin my game-experience too.
If you have the funds for it you can jack the prices up on whatever you want. A few guys did it on copper ore because they spent a little of their jillions of gold. (it was around like 25c then the next morning it was 1.25s).
The market fluctuates as well if you make a bad investment you can get out of it for little to no cost if you play it smart. I mean just look at dyes in regards to the change of how they will work here shortly. Even the dyes you’ve gotten multiple times across your characters (we’ll use a generic color such as “blue” for this) Blue dye has gone up from 2s to 40s. Playing the market involves more than just going OH THIS IS NICE LOOKING IT’LL GO UP, it involves a bit of reading whats coming out in updates.
Not sure if you saw the immediate direction of silver/gold/plat went when it was speculated that jeweler 500 was coming out a few months ago (it never did) but people were buying silver/gold/platinum in high quantities at way over average market price.
Barring random RNG the easiest way to get 50g per hour is to just go charge 500 dollars to your credit card and buy gems and then convert said gems to gold.
Anyone really shocked by this? The champ train was incredibly degenerate game design and I’m sure Anet has been looking for a justified reason to nerf it for some time just as they nerfed the Cursed Shore farm train. Evidently, nixing armor repair costs was the best they could come up with.*
*I am actually in great favor of no more repaire costs from a WvW perspective, but it’s a pretty weak reason to nerf champ loot.
I hate to break it to you but this does not nerf the champ train- no one does the champ train for the money in the bags.
What it does do is nerf events out in the world – those events give no incentive as it is.
I like doing them for fun but if they actually end up costing you money in the end, you would have to be a masochist to do them.
I am poor as it is so there goes my playing hero and clearing maps for kicks.
It is a really stupid idea and I would like to ask the person who came up with it what he thought he was accomplishing.
The lack of non-gold items makes this game feel soul-less end-game
All I have are my SAB TM skins that are the most meaniful to me cause I earned them. Nothing else in this game you can ‘earn’
Reducing rewards for completing events sound like a joke. But definitely not funny one.
Actually no one is doing events for rewards. Only reward which is worth completing is experience. But when you have lvl80 and tons of skill points you dont need it so you dont do events. You can run through the whole map and see tons of active events. And they arent even started so whats the point of nerfing rewards ?! I just cant understand that. Maybe im just too dumb for it.
Doing it for gold ? Pls almost every other way to get gold is better than rewards for events. Even collecting plants with sickle is better.
Doing it for karma ? Pls, after update with EOTM no one will do the events for karma when you can farm it on this new wvw map like a machine gun.
It does seem strange they would nerf the rewards for events when people always complained that the rewards where so low that events where not worth doing in the first place,
I guess they still have some learning to do when it comes to time vs reward.
If events are not worth doing why is there a Champion Train? Why is it so popular that all you hear on map chat almost consistently is different versions of " Is there a Champion train? " " where is the Champion Train?" or even worse.." so and so got greedy, he decided to take Champion so and so by Himself… he didn’t wait for the Champion Train, remember that."
ok so your moaning about the loot you get and you get plenty running the champ train this makes the game unuseable due to the fact of you have them on a clock which we have seen time and time again so to me this is a general exploit to farm the champ train for gold and other resources and i for one am glad it has been nerfed and im also glad they have reduced it it will make the game open and more exploreable to others and more enjoyable to play i for one agree with this change and relish the fact " the champ train" is either gone or goin to be mimimized and i agree with the nerfing then you will have to have something else to farm

Perhaps we should wait and see what their 3 days of ’Facilitating Friendly Play’ brings before we get the pitchforks. Might be reward improvements there.

The Champ Train is being nerfed, Good show Anet. I think this was an awesome move on their part. People are being rewarded for hiding behind 100 others, moving with w… attacking with 1… and then Moving to the next champion.
This is not what the devs intended. And I am happy to see it nerfed.
They aren’t reducing ‘loot’ per se, just the raw gold from events. Same with champ bags.
What ? Raw Gold ? Events give something like 1s 30c .. no matter how long it takes. All they can reduce is the “raw copper”. Even the quickest possible events are not worth the time reward wise.
Mine iron ore or chop some wood and you’ve made more than with one event.
I don’t understand what reducing the raw gold output from bags/events even accomplishes, few people are doing events as it is other than the champ trains, and let’s be honest, nobody does the champ trains for the raw gold output :|
So basically all this does is discourage everyone from doing all events except the champ trains.
And then anet wonders why we aren’t running around the world doing all the content they’ve made.

Well i would start to make a couple question here that is way lss biased than TP section…
Why every single form of gold farming is “balanced” while tp speculation is outrageously out of hand? (it deflates other players wealths)?
Why can t we have a CDI about the economy in MAIN section with john Smith?
P.S. one more reason to skip champs in dungeons
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Are all champs being nerfed or is it just the open world champs that are being nerfed?
If it’s the former then that means champs in dungeons and LS content are getting the nerf as well. I’ve never done champ trains, but I feel sorry for those who enjoy doing them; the nerfing is getting so bad to the point where it’s not worth the trouble.
Then again another part of me wonders if this is just Anet’s attempt to pressure people into buying gold with gems, especially if the nerf really is going to effect ALL of the champs within the game.
Imo, the loot nerf is for 2 reasons:
- to balance the removal of trait reset fees and repair fees
- to dissuade people from running champ trains.
As for the first reason, yea I can see the need but I have a feeling the nerf is going to over-compensate for the lack of trait/repair gold sinks.
As for the second, I see it as a lazy solution. A better fix would be to adjust the timers on the champ respawns or create pre-events. That would keep general loot intact but nerf the trains.
Anet says they’re making some of these changes to make it easier for low level and new players. But nerfing general loot for completing events is a very poor idea. That’s such a dynamic and integral part of the open world, reducing rewards from them will only cause players in the know to simply run past them.
Also, it hurts dungeon loot.

The entitled attitude may also have something to do with it. We don’t talk about champtrains, we talk about the rewards normal events are giving. They are simply too low.
An event should give proper reward based on the time you spend to complete it.
You can get 1g through dungeonrunning in 15 minutes. Go ahead and try to get 1g with events in 15 minutes. It wont work, it wouldn’t be even close.
The loot you get from normal monsters is better than the reward you get from an event that’s blatantly unbalanced.

champ trains arent about doing events, thats just a bonus. Champ trains are about killing champions. Look at the frost gorge champion train which often actively avoids doing event champions, because they scale up higher, and require more communication.
Also, while its all good to say champion trains are out of wack, realize that the most hardcore champ train farmer, essentially makes less or equal to the average TP merchant.
So by while making champ trains less profitable may make people do something else, what else would they do? Events? they are nerfing events too. And then you have to ask yourself what game play feels rewarding in any way? and you get not much. PVE has the worst reward for actually playing the game as intended. In WvW you gain rank, and prestige, badges of honor, drops the more objectives you take/people you kill. In SPVP now, you will unlock levels, gold, skins, and unique skins by participating in matches.
PVE? grind the easiest/most repetitive content as often as possible for average reward, or play the TP for reward based on your business acumen. While champ train wasnt the best thing in the world, nerfing all champion drops, and event rewards is doing nothing to make PVE feel rewarding or progressive.

First, because champion trains are not event trains but champion trains. Second, because events are so bad that anything is better.
There’s a reason why in open world there are champ trains, and world boss trains, but there are no event trains. Unless the events in question include some heavy mob farming – but most of those got nerfed into nonexistence looong ago.

I want to give an idea how the problem of unsatisfying event rewards could be solved:
We already have Account Bonuses: Extra Karma, Gold, XP and Magic Find.
My idea centers around those bonunses:
You should be able to also increase Karma, Gold and XP (only for events) by using essences. Those essences could be aquired as event reward. Those bonuses should stack that far, that it would be atleast as rewarding to farm eventchains as a dungeon would be. But the rewards should also get hit by diminishing returns after a period of time.
This would have multiple benefits:
- New way to spend your time efficient in GW2
- All maps would be atleast a bit more populated
- No option for goldsellers
- The need to stack those bonuses would prevent inflation
- New long-term goal
- Bonuses could be extended on other rewards to make them satisfying aswell
