I know the Wardrobe blog post said you will get all the progression skins along with the final one but given Eternity is such a unique skin in the game, I wanted to confirm whether we will get Sunrise and Twilight as skins too along with Eternity.

Also will crafting Eternity remain the same after April 15th patch?

I am currently sitting on Sunrise and Twilight and will make one only if we get the previous skins.

I have now read the patch notes 9 times.

It states you will get progression skins, so you will get dusk skin and twilight skin.

If you had dusk and dawn, to sunrise \ twilight soulbound then to eternity. You WILL get all skins.

Does this mean that precursors that are used will always be available? From that does that mean that you never have to buy another precursor again if you wanted to make a new legendary? From that (lots of "from that’s) will legendary weapons be one time use only or will they be available to all your characters at the same time? So build once, use on any character? By one time use only I mean will legendary weapons still be soul-bound or one equipment at a time only?

If a legendary can be used on any character at any time (provided they can use that weapon type), then I guess that answers my initial question on precursors – the market for them will suffer as a result, as you won’t need more than one of a certain type ever. If they are to be treated like every other weapon but legendary’s can be one character use at a time, the precursor market tanks too due to already having that precursor unlocked.

Am I over thinking this?

No you will only get skins of the items you have unlocked. So if you have twilight you can get its appearance on any other GS. Crafting another legendary would require a new precursor.

This is so dumb. Just make the items accountbound instead of giving every1 with one legendary an infinite supply of skins for it. People with only one legendary are excited for this, but people with duplicate legendaries would be equally excited as long as we recieved some sort of compensation for our hard work, time, and effort into this game. If Anet doesn’t do anything about it, I think it will show us all alot about what they really value. Players that put work into getting duplicate legendaries SHOULD be compensated for it. Its just the right thing to do.

Yes i think you can sell Eternity but you wont get it in the wardrobe. Act of Soulbinding or salvaging are the only way of filling your wardrobe. (otherwise everyone will just flip all the legendary skins off TP like they do with minis)

But the thing is, you get Twilight and Sunrise skins permanently even though you sold Eternity. Sunrise and Twilight to form Eternity is meant to be a permanent decision, it’s not meant to be back trackable.

It’s like if I buy a Lamborghini, and it became a “life unlock”, I can make my best friend’s car look like a Lamborghini with all the cool sounds and door effects, but not as powerful, by paying a fraction of what it costs. By fraction I mean it is insignificant to the cost compared to just selling the car as brand new.

Is this what’s going to happen as the latest feature pack?

Can be done, there are kit cars made to ‘look’ the piece.

Are you seriously jealous over that?

So… If I understood correctly, you unlock skins in the wardrobe just by picking them up from drops to your inventory, or buying the weapon from the Trading Post, correct?

If that’s right, you are not soulbinding the item to your character or account. The process is automatic.

This leads me to a question about legendaries:

Can’t i just but a legendary from the trading post, get the skin, resell and buy another legendary? This would make the process of collecting those skins really cheap.

No you can’t:

For the Wardrobe, we’ve changed skins to an account-wide unlock system. Skins can be unlocked by using consumables, equipping items, salvaging equipment, or right-clicking on equipment and account-binding it. Items that you acquire that are already bound to your account automatically unlock their skin when they go into your inventory.

See it as a positive thing; as you got 2 real legendaries, you can put whatever asc stats u feel like for free.
If someone wants to have same ability as you without the legendary’s stats but only the skin, he would need to make +10 different asc weapons and pay for gemstore +10 times.
Not that bad ok, but will also fill up inventory, to keep one or two for pve, 2-4 for pvp (soon) and some for wvw. And this is only calculated on one character.
Someone with a genuine legendary will come of cheaper at the end still since with the balance patches, nerfs and buffs, its always possible you’ll need to change build drastically. Well guess what, u just need to right click your real legendary and change stats while the other one has to make asc wep first and buy tokens to transmute it.

Second, be proud of what u have since you’ll still have 2 purple pieces to link in chat while others are gonna be stuck with pink items since they’re transmuted.
So you’ll have still the feeling of exclusivity for your own.

I do understand your concerns, I would act the exact same thing, but look on the bright side aswel my friend!

That makes so much more sense to me, thanks guys. Get weapon = unlock the skin/look. If you want the look of a weapon put the skin on some other weapon of the same type. If you want the actual weapon, craft it / buy it again.

So I’m thinking, unlock legendary – get skin – craft ascended weapon of same weapon type – re-skin ascended weapon to look like legendary weapon. Now I have one actual legendary and one ascended that looks like a legendary without destroying the actual legendary to get that look.

That’s. Pretty awesome!

I would suggest the system check for duplicate weapons in every player’s account and unbind all but one (akin to what is being done for duplicate dyes). This then leaves the choice to the player whether they want to re-equip it or sell it on the Trading Post. I don’t mention only legendaries specifically because there are some rather expensive exotics out there (Mjolnir and Infinite Light come to mind). I’d imagine these cases to be the minority as a very select few can afford to buy more than one of the same expensive items, but something must be done for them nevertheless.

Apart from that, it is overwhelmingly a positive change for the majority of players in Guild Wars 2.

keep in mind that the Wardrobe only grants account-wide-access to the item’s [skin], and not the item as a whole. Legendary items are a tier of its own, meaning it has a superior set of stats/infusion over other tiers.

Since it’s only a skin and cosmetic, we can only speculate Anet concluded this change will yes, hurt the minority of players that gave their all to craft every single thing for their character’s appearance, but ultimately this new Wardrobe system will be for the best of the game and the majority of fans moving forward. The new system will cater to lots more players and bring smiles to the majority.

You can’t make everyone happy in an MMO, as a business, majority always wins.

And most of those stats go unused, not to mention if you do use them for multiple builds you’ll have to swap the sigil (destroying the current one) each time. Ascended weapons are cheaper, more practical, and more functional than legendaries. And now for the price of one legendary and 3 ascended weapons you can have a more functional legendary that isn’t restricted by sigils!

This change is horrible for players that made multiple of the same legendary. I’ll trade my legendary in right now for 3k gold and make myself 3 ascended swords if anet lets me and so will every other person in this situation.

The price of wielding two legendaries should be more than double clicking one legendary and if it can’t be then we will gladly accept some compensation.

Having made one Infinite Light for my guardian, being able to suddenly dual wield them on my Warrior is a plus in my book.

It also makes me a lot more comfortable working on a Volcanus now that crafting it once will make it available to both my Guardian and the Mesemer that it’ll look good on.

Many of us appreciate the changes, but hope anet will be careful about what is displaced while they are making these important and much wanted changes.

This is an issue with many fair solutions and I am looking forward to hearing anet’s plans for dealing with the problem.

Legendary Weapons now have gameplay value outside of their cosmetic value.

There is a case to be made that since when they changed the infinite harvesting tools you were allowed to return duplicates for a refund, it might be equitable to allow players to unbind duplicate Legendary Weapons.

Even in the absence of Official Policy to that effect, if you’re a duplicate Legendary owner, I’d still put in a ticket to support and plead the case in that form.

I’ve said it many times now and I’ll say it again. No one who has two of the same would have bothered making a second except for the skin. The skin was the value, and the stat swapping and functionality is done better and cheaper with ascended weapons. When I say cheaper I mean 2,900g cheaper.

Yeah, I think this is the right approach to take if they don’t do anything official. And, just to be clear, even as a duplicate legendary owner who’d like a refund of mats for one of them (if it turns out the only benefit from having two is being able to swap stats on both), I like the wardrobes overall. It’s a great change for the game.

Saying he doesn’t speak for the other folks who made dual legendaries is like telling somebody who says “Well nobody likes a drafty house!” that they can’t speak for all homeowners. Sure, there might be the occasional exception, but by and large anybody who made two of the same legendary did it for the skins, not the stats.

Yes, I could care less for the switchable stats as well.

Back then in 2012 when I dual wielded, they had exotic stats. No switchable stats and whatnot. It’s all the skin. You chose to craft the skin and it was the skin that costed 2000+g (if bought) or 1000+g (if crafted). The new stuff were just the added bonuses, but the point still stands, most people craft legendaries for their looks. To dual wield, you spend hundreds of hours farming, not just a simple transmute to make your second. We could have just used exotic weapons that costed 1g with perfect stats, but we opted for the legendary option.

My question is whether unidentified dyes will still be available enough to get the Gift of Color for Bifrost after they remove them as loot drops. I don’t know how feasible it will be to farm them from “in-game rewards”.

This is what worries me too, what happens to the gift of color? I’ve seen enough of Anet to know that they are more than capable of overlooking a detail like this just casually letting the cost of 250 unidentified dyes quadruple without batting an eyelash. Just look at how expensive cloth ascended armor is compared to leather, for no apparent reason other than sloppy design.

All I can say is be patient, collect everything else then wait until the scavenger hunt for precursors is released.

I’ve been playing since headstart, no pre drops/crafts ever, so my patience is rather worn.

I’ve had all the other gifts ready to go for over a year, but I can’t bring myself to the low point that I have to buy a precursor from the TP, when I legitimately collected everything else needed. Other people can cheap out and be impatient and just buy whatever they want to get their’s; for me it’s a point of pride and honour to take up a legendary.

You think precursor crafting is coming? It’s all lies and deception. More fool you.

The Wardrobe and Legendary changes are awesome. And sure you can skin it onto another weapon but you don’t get the stat change on the fly function. So your 2nd one still has some special value.

I personally always thought it was a waste to craft 2 of the same legendary anyways though even long before this feature patch. It would definitely of been something to be regretted eventually. There would always be a chance a much cooler weapon would be released that you’d want or a new legendary dagger you could dual with it. Didn’t expect something this great though, but I’d probably end up keeping my off-hand dagger as Yellow SAB Dagger (or purple if SABW4) since those are true legendary weapons that take blood and tears to craft. Happy I’ll get to use my hard earned Legendary on alts tho instead of it trapped on Thief forever.
