Feel the nostalgia.
This is actually really awesome and interesting. Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for sharing! I’ve heard that servers were named after different locations, but looking them up one by one didn’t sound like fun. Great to have everything in one place and with pictures!
I seriously love this. Thanks for all the hard work!
My only beef is that, having not known the origins of Sorrow’s Furnace (my server) until now… Now I’m a bit bummed. I’m not a fan of Sorrow’s Embrace all too much. Bahaha. :P
Having played GW1 and visited all those places, I quite like the fact that I’m on Gandara, the moon shaped fortress, where you had to go rescue a white clad Kormir, by smuggling in as guards, with a centaur prisoner, then start a fight, and chop your way out….
getting story yet?
Great post! Thanks for sharing!

That’s no moon, its a fortress!
ThatShortGuy, arn’t you a little short to be a stormtrooper guard?
Help me Logan Thackeray, you’re my only hope!
Very nice, but not 100% accurate.
Northern Shiverpeaks – correct up until the Jormag part. Jormag awoke under the Far Shiverpeaks, which are north of the Northern Shiverpeaks. The Northern Shiverpeaks of GW1 are now the Norn areas of GW2.
Ah nostalgia, I remembered the Eye of Janthir in GW1.
That’s what pushed me to go with the Isle when server choice came up.
@CMF
I’m sure you’re making a reference to Star Wars or something but it went over my head. :-( ;-)

Very cool. I especially liked the ones where the server is named after a real person. Sanctum of Rall is probably the best write up, for obvious reasons.
Reminded me, i was going to end up on Jade Sea, as it’s probably my favourite place in all of GW (and in general absolutely brilliant concept and execution to my taste), but then…. AN made it a French server. Oh well, c’est la vie, i guess.
