I live in Europe, and I suppose, just like Halloween & Wintersday, that for us the update won’t launch this monday, but actually tuesday?

I don’t think they’ve given an exact time unless I missed something? I assume they just say 28th as they aren’t sure about exact time so I assume it could be at any point on the 28th in American time (No clue what times that would be in europe).

Ask me, it is already the 28th over here…
Do not expect any time to be told, ANet avoids to give closer time frames…

Halloween launched on a monday, but it actually happened on Tuesday here, Wintersday launched on a Friday, but it actually launched on Saturday…

Yeah, this whole giving a date or day thing they’re doing is rather annoying. They do know that they’re talking to people across the globe, yet they keep doing this.

Stating that the patch is slated for the 28th and then being able to download it midday the 29th, makes you wonder how clued up the poster is. I mean, clearly there supposed to be some form of structure behind this, or else there wouldn’t be dates involved, but giving a date and not caring how it peeves different players across different timezones is just wrong.

It’s great that they give dates according to where they’re situated, it might even appear to make sense. However, a huge part of this game’s player base (half by rough estimation) is located in non US timezones.

Those players will see the 28th and they wont think, “oh, wait, ANet is West Coast so that means according to timezone differences…”. No, a player will see the 28th and obviously expect the content on that date, they’re 28th. When the update finally hits the 29th, the non US players will feel cheated.

That’s that players fault then, for assuming a company that’s based on the west coast would give a date for another time zone.

That may be true, but ANet have attached times to specific dates in the past and have been quite vocal when it comes to updates. So, if they break the pattern and neglect doing so with some updates, is that still the players’ faults?

As long as it launches.

Well, just going off their usual track record for content releases, don’t expect it till late night, almost next day. They have a habit of releasing at the last minute before the next day.

I’d guess it will be the 29th for EU, based on previous examples. Keeping an eye on the forums (or possibly Twitter) is probably your best bet but I wouldn’t plan on staying up for it.

Yes, a forum user knows what ANet is planning based on nothing more than an assumption. What I meant was, ANet are referring people this thread even though there hasn’t been any ANet response.

Sorry, but where did I COMPLAIN, exactly? I’m merely pointing out that ANet have supplied exact times in the past, and I’m not demanding anything, I’m saying that it may get some people riled up. I’m anticipating the update just as much as anyone, and just being curious to get some specifics on when it’ll be available.

And this has got nothing to do with ANet bending over backwards to accommodate the players’ schedules, they’re plans are pretty much set already. I’m only requesting some clarity on the matter.

It’s a novel approach, i know, but they just might give an approximate GMT time. I’m pretty sure they already have the hour of deployment planned already.

I’m pretty certain, regardless, that in Europe it will be sometime after midnight, so 29th.

Please, be rational. We never asked to be reported on ALL timezones. Ofcourse not don’t be silly. But a separate Europe ( London perhaps ) and American (West Coast ) time might just make us customers a little less giddy and impatient. Know what I’m saying.

There haven’t been any announcements along the lines of “the update will be released in an hour” or anything like that, so I’m doubting it’ll be half an hour from now, i.e. the next daily achievement reset, so probably it’ll be 24 and a half hours from now. If you’re in GMT or any further east, that may as well be the 29th, but it’d be around 4PM PST, and as has been noted, ANet function in PST, so they’d still be meeting their announcement of an update on the 28th.

…Kinda hoping I’m wrong and it releases earlier, because my logic has just told me to stop looking forward to an update tonight. We’ll see.

You can expect the patch to launch:
Before 8 am 29/1/2013 in London.
Before 4 pm 29/1/2013 in gmt+ 8 areas.

Patience my rabid little darlings. It’s 3:40 pm PST on the 27th right now. The 24 hour window for the patch to launch will start in 8 hours and 20 minutes.

There’s no one-off event so you won’t miss anything.

Follow their twitter. They usually will post when the patch is incoming or around what time to expect it.

I would think they would want to get the update out a bit earlier so everyone has a chance to download plus it would give everyone fair time to get the daily achievement upon reset. Also dailies dont reset at midnight it resets at 7pm est for myself meaning 4pm pst since west cost is 3 hours behind me. the wintersday launched on my server around that time

Just pointing this out… PST does NOT just refer to the USA. It refers to Canada, as well. I am Canadian, and we use PST just like the USA does.

Well they did say the same thing about the release of the game and look where we are now.

At least, we can’t say that Arenanet isn’t creating some new concepts. Now we have “When it’s done®”, a registered trademark.

Doubt we’ll be seeing this update anytime in the next few hours.
