I have no idea why I feel like posting this to be honest. I’m just curious to know what peoples thoughts are.
If you could side with an un-playable race, who would you choose and why?
I would personally side with the Dredge. I love their technology, their lore and their people. Although the name escapes me at the moment, there was a time when my I spoke to one who was very coherent. I think they’re somewhat misunderstood, and if I were to be fighting the dragons, I’d want a species to back me that can summon more of their own just by sending soundwaves through the ground.
Probably Kodan. Partly because they fit with my Norn main, but I like their social structure and philosophies as well. Also, their ship homes are just awesome.
They are also one of the better dialogue scripted races and I could really get behind a well scripted alliance story aiding them against Jormag.
Personally I find them cute and funny, in a weird but good-kinda way. The friendly Dredge NPCs seem to be really good-hearted, and I feel like they’d always have my back.
They’re also VERY powerful, so I know they’d be great to fight alongside.
Going with Kodan for their philosophy and culture. The juxtaposition of fierce violence when necessary coupled with peaceful balance and tribal nature appeals to me.

People who side with the Dredge, have probably not played through Fractals enough to hate them enough as I do. For shame!
I’d personally side with the Krait. They look awesome, and they build impressive structures. Their lore and magic are interesting, and the underwater world belongs to them. Apart from the Deep Sea Dragon, they are barely unrivaled under water.
FACT: Quaggan are so dang cute, they’re too polite to SAY THEIR OWN NAME.
FACT: When Quaggan become enraged, they TRANSFORM.
FACT: Quaggans who can control their rage are SHUNNED by Quaggan society.
Beware: RISE OF THE QUAGGANS is coming.
FACT: The Quaggan was designed by ArenaNet’s Concept Art Team Leader Kekai Kotaki, and originally “called it a Poobag because that’s all it was good for.”
the flame legion, absolutely. i think they might actually come back into being a powerful faction in the citadel if the powers that be ever loosen the noose on state-sanctioned banning of worship of deities(not to say i don’t agree with their decision to kick the gods out)

Prob dredge. They are abundant, organized, powerful and for the most part, united.
Largos are good, but not abundant enough.
Skritt have glaring weaknesses.
Nighmare court turn on each other.
Flame legion are too extremist.
This is pretty much how I feel. Plus the ones that you can speak to seem pretty genuine. Which indicates to me that they would have each others backs in times of danger.
I just think they’re an overall awesome race.
Dredge. Not only for the reasons listed already but as a charr in the Iron Legion it’d be pretty sweet to see what the new alliance could come up with, both seem quite advanced in industrialization
Dredge is 80 % Xenofobic theyre blinded by their hatred of the dwares that kept them in slavery for many hundred years. and they’re already in an alliance you might not talk about the molten alliance but the drege that is not flameish or got molten in their name is still a part of the alliance. They hate everyone but scarlet and flame legion. Scarlet is godly at manipulating. which stops the dredge from being a choice for you guys
Personally id go for somthing like the zephyrites as they’re peaceful and lives on a beautiful airship full of parkour (i play a thief that fits parkour) And they’re related to the crystal desert and glint !:) They would be really useful with their magic and large ship + general knowledge.

It was really unnecessary to disprove those of us who have said we would side with the dredge, you know. If I weren’t so lazy I’d happily ruin your fun, too.
When I saw the first video of Tequal beta test and saw the developper using ‘cheat interface’ to remove big chuncks of life from the beast I decided that if there to have a war I would side with the GMs.
For the current non playable races i would side with the hylek. Not so much of a sharing of there views on the world more on the lines i want to play as a hylek! Well i must say i like the praise the sun point of view though.

Their comic-villain standpoint aside, they’re the BEST faction avaliable. Think about it logically
*A scientific division unbound by the ethics of morality
*Zojja acknowledges them (see under)
*Though they kill, lie, steal, and torture: They’re still brilliant.
*Their inventions are sheer genius and have even been stolen by more “legit” factions as building blocks for more ethical ones.
Long story short, they’re a necessary “evil”. They pave new, groundbreaking tech no matter the cost. Others just build off that afterwords. I honestly see them as the best faction to defeat anyone else, including the elder dragons.

There’s no doubt that the Zhaitan fight is terrible.
When you look at it from a lore context, all the other races combined to build a giant death star space ship to fight Zhaitan. He’s so massive and powerful that they couldn’t even have a normal battle involving your character because he wouldn’t notice you hitting him. Then consider that there are many dragons, and each of them have their own corrupted army.
Tequatl (a lesser dragon lieutenant) wiped out 80 player raids until people just stopped doing him all together.

They use sound to link their minds, the more in the link the smarter they get. Add in a bit of asura/charr tech, and you have radio communications. Put that onto skritt, and…
I have a charr that’s convinced that such a thing has happened once before, creating a Skritt Empire. He’s not sure what happened to it, but he thinks the unusual structure patterns and obsessions about “shinies” are broken echoes of that shattered, massive group mind.
If anyone can beat the dragons AND save the world from magical overload, it’s the skritt!
