Fractal Chest Loot Stealth Nerf
two words, sample size.
lol, last post got nerfed too.
please search the forums, this has been covered many times, there are less lfg.com since patch because guilds can finaly fractal together because of the patch changes.
Loot is just fine, but like i say in last post i will screenshot my loot next run
Ofc they are trolling.
RNG only start after the patch them cause before was ok the loot.
Ppl say that theres less ppl looking for fractals in the gw2lfg because of the new system of scale when the real reason is the crap loot that you get now.
RNG is the loot that you get from the daily chest, ppl only do fractals now to get the fractals weapon skins
mate im being serious, i made 18g yesterday on 3 runs, i dont really care if you believe me or not, thats your problem. Do do them, in the mean time i will make a killing TP.

I don’t need to search anything. I’m an intelligent person and have had many intelligent conversations with people since this patch and everyone is pretty aggravated by this stealth nerf. Sure I guess some of the LFG’s are down because of the new mechanics but I’m also sure they are down because people are upset ANET stealth nerfed loot and fractals are simply not worth the time anymore…. except for the hardcores I guess that really want that certain weapon skin. Gratz though on your nice runs. Please take the time to post some screen shots. It will prove heaps.
Not on gear no, on mobs I use MF food, on boss i use my normal nurishment
what level fractals are you guys running?
lvl 26 and im telling you after patch sometimes only got 1 rare per run, when before i got 4-6 rares
even if he uses MF, only afect moobs and not chests.

Yeah I know man. Same here. What bothers me more than the trolls on this forum is that ANET did not say anything about it. Just goes to show you how much they care about their players.
Now i bet that in the end of next month almost no one will be doing fractals
Whats the reason to do more than lvl 20 fractals if you dont get anything new

It’s sad really. I’ve had so much fun running fractals. Even though the fractal weapon system is a little annoying its still been fun/worth it to pursue them. Up until now I guess. I just don’t understand what the people at ANET are thinking. They should be doing things that make people want to play. Not the opposite.
I still make a decent amount of gold off fractals. Gold or 2 per game but i worry about the fun of fractals. Got the lovers bow a week or so ago from a krait in fotm made 450g from it.

True, well i think that alot of ppl will stop playing for the lack of challenge content and good rewards, i dont know about you guys but im sick of RNG excuses for the loot.
Make Hard content for the hardcore with some good reward or atleast less RNG reward and do Less hard content for Casual /Softcore players with good reward to.
Also if they want to keep the pve player and even get more PvE players they need to do Raid content or else ppl will play other games(Wildstar/TESO/Tera etc)

Just did yet another lvl 20 and not a single rare from any chest. Did get a destroyer core from the maw chest. Asked everyone in my party and they all agreed….. STEALTH NERF.
No changes were made to loot in fractals what so ever, they will be covered in release notes if changes of that nature are made.
You thought they were nerfed? I got 2 rare weapons from a single chest in fractals 2 days ago. In fact, in EVERY chest that run I got at least 1 rare or exotic.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Firstly let me say, I just did level 28 and I probably had the worse loot in ages, typical when I wanted to prove a point, only made around 1g – 20s which by normal standard Is very very poor, I was making 5g yesterday :P.
But anyways, I think I actually do see your point guys, I’ve not actually noticed because I rarely look at loot until I get back to LA and overall my loot is usually very nice, I had Charged Lodestone yesterday worth 3g+ plus exotics and lots of rares.
That being said I’m only getting as a rule blues/greens from the actual chest with the odd rare or cores lately, so maybe they have nerfed the chest loot but overall loot is still great.
Others in my group had plenty of cores and an exotic from chests thou so I don’t know, verdict is still open.
Going to run 10-18 for daily chest see what I get then :P post later.

Every single player I talk to disagrees. Not to mention the fact that the simplified upgradeless versions of rares are no longer dropping as often and now rabid and solider versions that have never been seen before are dropping. So that right there is a change, but regardless every single person I’ve talked to says all they get now from chests are blues and greens and the occasional lodestone/rare. I’m willing to give you guys the benefit of the doubt that whatever is happening was unintentional, but its happening. Get out there, ask around, and see for yourself.

Yesterday I looted rare pauldrons, rare gloves, a rare mask, three different rare lodestones, a rare shield, rare dagger, rare spear, and an exotic soldiers dagger. I seen at least one essence and one ascended ring drop.
This was over the course of two runs. Now not every single person you have talked to have only gotten green/blue.
edit: both runs were in fractal lvl 10, so there was a maw chest and when the Grawl fractal came up we also got the first shaman chest. Because someone will undoubtedly count.

RNG. Grats. The vast majority of people are not this lucky since patch. Don’t take my word for it. Start asking your parties and see what they say.
One thing worth checking is what effective fractal level your party is playing at, though nothing about loot rewards in fractals changed, we did change the system allowing what levels of fractal you could play with others which means you might simply be qualifying for much lower fractal levels (and thus loot).
The “level” of loot dropped for a player is the min of fractal scale and reward level. The reward level will still be displayed in the UI as a higher number than the fractal scale which might be cause for confusion, reward wise you’re still earning items based on the actual fractal scale you’re playing in. We display your personal rank because the players are awarded extra karma if there personal rank is over the current fractal scale.
You can add a second person to your list of people getting items, in my two fractal runs since the January release I’ve got an exotic and three rares. So there ya go!
Guild mate got at least 5 exotics, 0 rares, and a fractal weapon last night, rest of us not so much… He hasn’t played as long as the rest of us, so I’m thinking he just hasn’t hit the “you have played over X hours, enjoy your blues and greens from now on with the occasional exotic once a month,” at least that how it is for me.
Something is definitely different than before. All of my characters are above lvl 20 fractal so all of my personal reward levels are all above 20. I’ve only done lvl 20 plus fractals since the patch and I’m getting less rares from chests period. Before the patch all I ever did were lvl 20 daily’s because they are the easiest difficulty that can give weapons. So pre and post patch my fractal levels have basically been the same. I have been running some 24 or 26 because I can now, but I’m still minimum 21 on all my toons. Every party I’ve been in I’ve asked if people are experiencing similar results (less rares from chests) and the answers have been resounding YES. So Colin all I’m asking is for you to do the same; the next few parties you are in ask if people have been noticing significantly less rares from chests and see what they say.
(edited by ObliviousFool.3427)
I haven’t really noticed any difference. I run quite a bit of fractals and the chest loot seems to be about the same as it ever was.
97% of statistics are made up on the spot.
I’m 98.7% certain those 95% are actually wrongfully labelled as such.
TLDR : humans cannot compute RNG in their mind accurately without at least 1000 samples. I doubt you asked 1000 people and recorded each answer. besides, most people who got shafted in their last run will feel cheated and give you a worse estimation than reality.
By the way Jboots were nerfed again, I definitively run slower. Also Onyxia Breath happens more often.
i’ve actually got the first exotic i’ve ever seen from a fractal chest after the patch
Can we take Colin’s statements to be as correct as when we were assured that Veterans and Champions would drop ANYTHING?
Sorry if I am more than a bit skeptical.
Just pugged a level 10 speed run and loot was a lot better than the 28 I just did, from chest I got Charged core (1g -27s) + Onyx Core (72s) + 3 rares and 1 rare from mystic forge (greens in), a little bit of luck with salvaging I got 7 globs of ectoplasm worth 2g – 35s. Other mats probably worth about 50s.
So that lower run which took about 1 hour earned me equivalent to 4g+, and chest loot was better too, others had exotics in the group as well.
Try running a lower level pug see what you get??
(edited by Nibiru.1423)
One thing to note on the declining number of people grinding fractals is that they have begun to place the treadmills in other parts of the game with the last patch. Localizing the grind in a dungeon probably sounded like a good idea initially as that’s how WoW does vertical progression post max level. With treadmills appearing closer to where players naturally play I would expect the dungeon population to decline a bit. This is not to say that there has not been a change in loot quality, just another reason people may be grinding the fractals less.
Well I wouldn’t notice a change, I have gotten maybe 3 drops better than greens since the wintersday patch
I havent noticed a problem. I’ve been walking away from each fractal I’ve done since the patch with 2-4 rares, no exotics so far but those are hit or miss anyway and I havent been runing particularly high fractals either thanks to ranking up a new character with no AR. I’d offer the OP a tinfoil hat but I’m out of tin foil.

I’ve noticed that as well…maybe an enticement to get more folks into doing runs?
I did fotm 10 for the first time and got Solaria, Circle of the Sun. I was pretty excited even though it isn’t the most useful for my build. Seems like awesome loot as always lol.
no idea how it work but im getting best loot in low lvl fractals , 20+ crap 90% loot

Care to comment on whether or not the intended loot in fractals changes as you level up?
We are aware of when ring and then infused rings start dropping as you advance through the ranks of difficulty. My experince has alway been that cores and lodestones are dramatically more common on LOWER dificulties. Are they prehaps deliberately phased out as you start getting a chance at the ascened gear?
People say they feel they get fewer rares as time has gone on. Perhaps they’ve just advanced to a difficulty where rares make up less of the potential loot because asceneded gear and fractal weapons become the primary reward being offered…?
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Sure.
First time doing fractals in November: levels 1-8 gave about 5-6 rares per run AVERAGE (som runs with 8, some with 2) and 1 exotic every 2-3 runs.
Couple of weeks after that: levels 10-16 gave 3-4 rares per run, 1 exotic every 4-5 runs.
NOW: levels 16-20, 3-5 rares per run. Exotic? Does it even exist?
Before someone starts saying “one person doesn’t count blabla statistic yadayada”: this isn’t MY count, it is MY GUILD count. It isn’t still statistically relevant, but it CAN give a rough image of the drop rate change.
By the way: I too noticed a slightly better drop in open areas after 28’s patch, still can’t say if it is just an impression or not.
Can we take Colin’s statements to be as correct as when we were assured that Veterans and Champions would drop ANYTHING?
Sorry if I am more than a bit skeptical.
After the whole snowflake thing, cultural skins on open world karma vendors, etc that it’s fairly fair to say testing isn’t a strong point before handing things out to the player. I’d be skeptical too since it doesn’t look like they really realise what they are releasing til after the fact.

What makes you think the higher levels are supposed to drop the same stuff as the lower levels only with ascended gear on top of that?
Try running the low level stuff again. I have two level 80s and one of them has never made it out of the single digits. Running 2, 4, 6, or 8 for the daily on that secondry charater nets me great loot. My main is clearly drawing from a different loot table doing the daily difficulty 10 (but gets the ring tokens). Guess which one gets the exotics far more often? I am completely unsurprised if 16-20 is a different table from that…

This is the same thing that was said of world loot after the 11/15 patch but I’ve received as many rares in the months since 11/15 as i’ve seen in the one week preceeding 11/15.
It seems like the “RNG” is “stuck”, because there are half the populace Consistently receiving amazing loot (2-3 ectos per dynamic event,5-6 per dungeon) while the remainder Consistently receive stacks of porous bones and blues.
Many others agree (thus the two threads with massive views and replies on this issue)
I’m telling you there’s a bug, and with this patch, it’s spread to fractals, so now the people who cloister themselves there are experiencing what the rest of us have been experiencing.
Maybe now it will get some attention?
Just my 2cents last week i’ve been running fractals my lvl 10 and 20 daily. And working my way on to 30. But last week the best thing i’ve gotten is à green. It’s after the update that i startend THE notice THE deminished chest en boss loot. The best Thing at the maw was à green. Before the update there was à core or 2. I know it’s random but this is insane. It’s said that stuff works as it should.

Power of suggestion. You see these posts, you suddenly “notice” more blues and greens in your runs, you decide it’s a reason to believe that they nerfed rare and exotic drops.
It’s in your head.

Sorry, you have it the other way around.
11/15 came and I noticed it in game, and came here to see if anyone else did.
Reading through this thread, I’ve seen very little actual evidence or logical argument supporting claims either for or against the occurrence of such a change (Though personally, I have no reason to believe ArenaNet would have reason to lie on the subject). Please familiarize yourselves with principles of logic and objective experimentation before making such claims. As a starting point, I suggest looking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anecdotal_evidence and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_Bias.
The chests and drops in general was nerfed along time ago, in the early days it was pretty common to have as many as 6 rares/exotics drop per run, over time that’s since deteriorated into a far less drop chance, I’ve done runs without getting one rare now so I’m guessing most people are just noticing it now? And as for MF, its broken it doesn’t work at all – I’ve done fotm 10 speed runs with my full MF geared/MF guild buffs/Food buffs character and noticed the loot drops was more or less the same as any of my other characters, I didn’t notice any impact and others have said the same thing since launch.
As for the guy who claimed to have gotten 28g in 3 runs? I call BS on that, unless he/she got a few good unique exotic drops.
Get it taken down -
Do whatever it takes if you care about this game -

Indeed i also came here after the frustration of deminished loot from chest and boss.

Sample size: easily 500+ encounters.
Subjects: 50 guild members.
Time Period: 2.5 months
10-15 of these guildies (the same ones) ALWAYS received better loot wherever they went.
The rest ALWAYS received, at best, salvage trash.
If it were truly random chance, those 10-15 would have crap loot more than 3/4 of the time, they didn’t.
If it were truly random chance, the remainder would have good loot at least some of the time, they didn’t.
If the chance of dropping were truly random, rather than just “random in aggregate”, there would not be a vast, stickied thread of people who are vowing not to spend one dime in the gem shop until they fix this.

I’m sorry, but that is still anecdotal, and makes several fallacious assumptions. For one, you fail to provide any numeric support for your claims regarding loot. I realize this may not be possible in retrospect, but it does jeopardize the validity of the proposed evidence. I find the last point to be especially fallacious, as popular opinion does not define objective truth in any way. I rather doubt you spent any significant length of time reading the pages I linked. Additionally see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correlation_does_not_imply_causation for further reasons for the assertions’ invalidity.

“Correlation Does Not Imply Causation”?
Are you serious?
Loot is “caused” by an algorithm and ONLY an algorithm.
If there’s a statistically significant pattern, such as 1% drop rates occurring EVERY loot (about 25% drop rate assuming 4 items per chest) for 500 loots in a row for a significant percentage of the populace, or a 1% drop NOT occurring at least once for every 200 items (this accounts for a VERY large standard deviation) looted in a sample of 2000, then yes, THE LOOT ALGORITHM is the cause.
