“Many champion events in the starter maps have been converted into veterans.”
Destroy the wasp queen.
Eliminate the bandit lieutenant.
Slay the enraged champion cave troll.
Hunt and slay the giant boar.
Liberate Shaemoor Garrison. (Removed a champion Tamini chieftain that spawned at certain scaling.)
(Converted the elite forest spider in the Queen’s Forest to veteran.)
Anet likely didn’t want to remove the armor stats entirely because…well,
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.
New—Mini Piglet!
This little side of ambulatory bacon can be your forever friend! Remember, each spring mini is available for only one week, so you’ll have to act quickly to adopt one of these Mini Piglets!
“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Yeah, the few times I’ve taken alts through queensdale I wasn’t particularly impressed by the general attitude, can just imagine how new players felt, coming into the world all bright eyed and running into the train.
This is a terrible move. I use those for dailies and monthlies, usually just one circuit of boar>troll>oak before going on to better things. And it’s not just Queensdale, either; it’s ALL starting zones. If they really want people off the train, then just don’t give loot after the first time.
Of course, it did affect you. Kill a champ out of turn, and see how it affected you. Queensdale was a waste. Most of what you saw in map chat was “train?” That’s no way to build a game. This is absolutely a good change.
Maybe now these people will have to play the game instead.
While I’m not a fan of the trains….this is a pretty ignorant thing to say. People were playing, as they wanted to. Just because its not your way, doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s. Some people like farming that way and some trains had quite a social aspect to them that I know people who enjoyed that aspect.
I did not like the trains, so you know what I did? Nothing and didn’t join them. Why go the extra step to bash other people for doing something that affects you in no way?
The problem is that the train’s existence caused new players a lot of problems. New players that didn’t know of the existence of the train would kill a champ “out of order” and that annoyed the train. The train then went on this non-stop verbal spree abusing the new players. Definitely don’t want that happening.
Well, you people got your wish. You just couldn’t let us do what we wanted (and I’m not even one of them. Only would run it once in a great while). Can’t wait to see how many quit because of this.
Nerfing reward systems is not always a good thing. Sure in Queensdale things sometimes got ugly in chat. However, taking away rewards is a slippery slope. Perhaps your favorite farming area will be next.
I have not run the train in about a month. I’m just not a big fan of reward nerfs. Rewards in this game are already skimpy at best. Just look over the forum and see.

New players in Queesndale would be hard pressed to take down a champ on their own. Very hard pressed. From my experience the verbal arguments came from experienced players purposely disrupting the train. Even then, most train regulars just ignored them.
oh my god hahaha i’m laughing so hard
now i don’t have to zone into qdale and see people arguing how to properly play META on the train because going some certain way isnt META
Like swords, sorcery and misfortune?

I’m sure they’re still “events”. We’ll just have to find champs elsewhere.

The nerf wasn’t about the rewards though, it was about the new player experience.
If it was simply about the rewards, they wouldn’t have bothered changing the Champions in the other starting areas as well.
Life is a journey.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
No, it will probably be pretty dead now and all those L10 new players asking questions probably won’t get a response.
Maybe. But there wont be 100 people in there every minute swearing at and insulting those same L 10 new players for being “noobs” and turning them off to the game altogether.

OOOOOR, you could just champ train in a higher level area.
