GUILD WARS 1 remake
I’m all for remakes but on mmos there really not needed. Guild Wars still is up and running if people do want to play that they should do it! It’s not like it cost to play it. A remake really wouldn’t change anything about it but the graphics which depending on how they made it they could upgrade that them self without a whole new game. If you do change other things about the game then it wouldn’t really be guild wars 1 anymore.
There reasons why people have moved on but most of it’s not due to the graphics of the game there many people who don’t care how well a game looks. Sometimes even remakes aren’t better then the original games.
I however wouldn’t mind them putting past events from the games into fractals.
No.
GW1 is a great game that stands just fine on it’s own. It doesn’t need to be remade. That said, I’d rather Anet make past GW1 events into fractals. That way, players who are unfamiliar with the events of GW1 can experience some of what happened through those fractals.
I am all for that but i don’t think it will become reality.
What i really want is to adjust GW2 to the real cool stuff like GW1 had.
- adding points to a traid is directly upgrading the skills.
-a lot Skills to choose from and not connected to a weapon
-Weapons are not connected to a skill they are connected to the Character. Bow to Ranger, Sword/Axe to Warrior. Staff to Necro, Ele etc….
-Bring back creativity, give armor a meaning, bring in defense skills, deconnect PVE from PvP skills
-Create bosses who are no defeatable by direct damage in dungeons and PvE.
-bring back Monster Necros who raise minions from our dead bodys
-bring back the death penalty….. actually bring everything back to prevent people from being glass cannons
-Bring back story awesomeness.. let us be Heros again not the Ground Keeper in a huge office building
-Bring back the cool parts of the countries. Crystal desert, Elona, Cantha
my 2 cents

yeah i agree with everything you just said thats why i liked guild wars so much!! on a side note : i wish they would make unique armors for each class like in gw1 and if they do they need to bring back Elite imperial armor for assassin ^^ so awsome and yeah the countries i miss cantha heck i miss all of them
You don’t remake an MMO that is still running, especially not when remaking it would draw members away from your current MMO.
Arenanet already made GW1, that’s why GW2 is different, what would the point of GW2 have been if it was just the same game set in the future? They may as well have just made more GW1 expansions.
If you want to play GW1 then go play GW1!
I loved GW1 but people look to the future, it happened whats the point in releasing gw 1.2.
I have to say I hated GW2 on release because of the above comments but then soon realized whilst playing that I was not stood in an outpost shouting lfg Hell’s Precipice Please help me!
It is playable Solo.
but also has group events!
There are a handful of people still playing GW1, but it’s not the same. Having a large player base enhances the overall gaming experience of an MMORPG greatly. It’s also rather stagnant, having not seen a major content addition since 2007. The game peaked in 2008/09 or so and has slowly degraded since then. I can’t even recommend it to new players since they’ll end up kicking the tires in a virtual ghost town.
I don’t think we’ll see a remake, but perhaps Arenanet will revisit what made the game spectacular(and better than GW2 in many cases). There’s also the off chance someone could simply borrow the game mechanics and make a spiritual successor of sorts. We shall see…
go to the american district on GW1 there are the most people playing. I still play it every now and then and still like it very much but a remake of GW1 pls no just go play it if you miss it.
I’d love a GW1 remake, but this is clearly not the same dev team. They’d only manage to kitten it up.
WTB original Anet team.

I miss choosing my own skills in GW1, not force onto me by the weapon i’m holding.
GW1 remake? No.
GW1 continued new content releases? YES!
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I would buy this in a second.

All GW1 fans would.

Yeah. A visual update and more expansions for Guild Wars would be great.
Guild Wars 2, though, is a completely different beast from GW1. Instead of looking to follow up on the (limited) success of their first game, they decided to look at the MMO market, see what the complaints against it were, and make what was supposed to be a WoW-killer that intelligently went about it by being as distant from WoW-clones as it could. An attempt to fix and add actual diversity into the MMO market. I’m glad it did it, until this latest feature patch ruined so much.
I think GW1 and GW2 are both great games, and honestly, I think GW2 is far more fun. I’ll probably boot up the first one sometime for nostalgia’s sake, but to me, this is my absolute favorite game, hands down, especially when you play with your RL friends and family.
Before you consider a remake, you have to consider that the Anet that released the original Guild Wars isn’t the same Anet that brought out GW2. A lot of them up and left after GW2 was announced.
Since Guild Wars is an Anet (and by extension, NCsoft) game, my bet is that no one will take note of this notion and they’ll ‘let the past be past’. Admire a great game for what it was, and look back on the fond screenshots for memories.
Having said this, playing GW2 I’d love to see more references/nods to Guild Wars (lore wise) in content for GW2. The above suggestion about Fractals was a good one… I’m not a Fractaleer, but I’d give it a shot to go through more of what happened in Guild Wars.

Not luck and credit cards.”
Yes for fractal gw1 events.
Not sure on a remake
Yes for expansion / new content. Certainly would buy it
I played gw1 for a couple of months around Christmas with the reddit guild. It was great, the most active gw1 guild I played with it was insane. Like 40 online and all 100 places were active in the guild not including the alliance, felt like a guild wars resurgence. Its a shame it died down a bit though
Re-makes of console games make sense because the hardware changes completely every few years and there’s rarely much (or any) backwards compatibility. After a decade or so there’s going to be a significant number of people who never got to play the original who would be interested in buying it.
That doesn’t apply to PC games, at least in the same time frame. The computer I built last month can still play games from the mid-90s (although installing them is trickier).
As long as GW1 is still running there’s no reason for a re-make. And if you play on the American districts there are still a lot of people around. Even now when I logged in (early Saturday morning in Europe, middle of the night in America) Kamadan had 2 busy districts and Shing Jea had the usual crowd.

Can we get a GW1 kickstarter project????

I’d absolutely buy a new expansion to Guild Wars. I would not buy a GW2 expansion, though. Ever.
But Guild Wars? Oh hell yea. I’d be all over that.
:D Me too, GW1 felt good in every way to me, but sad that it dropped away because everyone went GW2… I think GW1 deserves a real sequel.

Looking forward to July 1st.
Or they can just add Cantha,Elona, and classes from GW1 that we are missing there and BOOM! We have it all in GW2
They could use the FOTM to relive more gw1 or past events written in the books, or better yet finish off the last Guild wars beyond in Elona with a Fractuals.
Alternately they could do that single player historian thing in gw1 for certain event like Master Togo ending the tengu wars, Saul stoping the Char invasion of Kryta, or Warmashal Ossa stoping plawa Jerko in the past that they did in gw1 those stories were epic.
