GW 2 was advertised as a fun, casual MMO.
@Vayne,
Sorry but I disagree with you. The game is about all the parts they’ve added to it. It’s about WvW, Fractals, Dungeons, Open world PvE, living story, tPvP, it’s now also about vertical progression.
It’s ok for someone who loves fractals to be upset that they get no love. If ANet added content specifically to woo some types of gamers, they should be expected to support those gamers.

Tried the new Tequatil in an overflow pug, killed the old one back in the day, but this new one was timed and had 90% health left… That was fun, so I don’t get wings on my back, big deal.
snip..First of all welcome to the club and congratualtions
Secondly ohh you can still get the wings without beating tequalt as well…
you need to complete 8 achievements related to big bosses. There are 5 I believe that are available all the time which you can do. they’re just a little scavenger hunt in 3 zones. Just look for the boss week tab under achievements to get started.Every day there is also a daily achievement that applies to that list of 8. Its generally kill any dragon, doesnt have to be tequalt or just simply participate in the tequalt fight no need to win.
So if you want them you can still have them really
Thanks!
No, I don’t want to do that, those are ugly and I’d much rather have anything else, but that’s one thing I love about this game. Researched ascended trinkets after reading all the ******** on here and found out they cost laurels… So you mean I could buy one in a few months if I did a daily thing every couple days? I know there are two versions and blah blah blah… I don’t see how casual players can really complain when this game is more accessible than any other MMO I’ve ever played, and at the same time maintains a steady hard-core fanbase (which is VITAL to keeping the casuals, people need to be playing when I log in or its no fun)
@TooBz
In 30 minutes you can get 4 alts to farm all ancient logs for a day easily. If you’re unlucky and dont get any extra drops due to WvW bonuses you’ll still get the minimum 144 logs. Players are asking 11.5g for that! Gathering ancient logs isnt particularly excited granted but is it worth 11g? NO! in 30 minutes I am going to make maybe 1g? if even! 11g isnt justified I am much better off gathering it myself.I don’t disagree with you, but there is some food for thought. If we agree that chopping down wood logs isn’t very fun. Let’s call it work. If I’m going to do it, I’m going to want to be compensated, otherwise I won’t bother. So, for 30 minutes of doing tedious stuff I want 11g. 11 g will cost me about $4 in gems. So I’m doing something tedious and asking for $8 per hour to do it.
It probably doesn’t actually work this way. But I find people to seem less crazy if you think about this in terms of work. It probably works the other way. People who see the price of the logs and decide that they’d rather spend $4 in real money for the logs rather than spend 30 minutes swapping alts and whatever. Or (more likely) champion farm for the gold for 2 hours rather than spend 30 minutes chopping.
Its definitely food for thought, this really does make excellent material for a real study. It really seems to me that players are giving so much value to ascended weapons that they’re willing to pay any price that gets them there faster even though in truth it doesnt. (buy or not you still just need 50 day and wait till the next day to craft again as such in the time you’re waiting you can gather 3x the amount you need for tomorrow)
I think most of this is psychological. Ascended weapons are very important thus any price asked for even components is justified. Its the only way I can explain those crazy prices for mats surviving this long.

But it’s not JUST about Fractals. That’s my point. It’s like my ex wife who was a very picky eater. No matter what restaurant we went to, she complained about the selection. The problem was very rarely the menu.
Anet didn’t make Fractals. They made Guild Wars 2 of which Fractals is a tiny, tiny part. And if people want to live in that tiny tiny part, that’s fine. But if they want the company to make the game so that they can never leave that tiny tiny part (Fractals isn’t WvW…it’s not an entire play style, it’s a single series of mini dungeons), then that’s their prerogative.
If it’s so painful, the people who ONLY play Fractals and want to do nothing else will leave. Most of those people have probably already left, anyway.

You’re both right in different ways.
Vayne is right in that Open world was clearly the intended main content of the PvE experiance. I mean there is a reason why dungeons where limited to parties of 5. When that didnt work because people cared about rewards more then did with having the option to play anywhere in the world fractals where born and in that Vayne again is right in that because of players who like that sort of thing the direction of the game has shifted a little bit and it would be nice if those people wouldnt make it like its the end of the world when ever it shifts back in our direction just like we didnt say its the end of the world when they got some content to enjoy.
You’re also right though, the game is everything it has to offer. Its just that Anet cannot support everyone with every update and its unfair in my opinion to jump on them each time they decide to support a different kind of player in 1 update!

Yep. I misunderstood your post. My bad.
This is like, the most casual MMO to ever exist. So yeah, I’d say they delivered.
This thing is more casual than Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
Wow can’t believe I got this many responses. I haven’t read even half, but it seems people assume I’M a casual with my friends. I’m not. They are. Having said that. I just got a precursor. I also only have about 20k karma, so Anet. Again you made this process a not-fun grind by stripping all of the karma out of the game. Just reverse your mistakes and everyone will love you again. Admitting you made a mistake is the first step of showing maturity. Let this game mature
Yep ANET/Ncsoft are just milking off what’s left of the cow right now
How do you milk a free cow? There is no revenue stream to milk once someone has bought it and I guarantee sales aren’t compensating for a lack of a subscription model. It’s all gravy for the user at that point. I wish every game I paid the same for (or even more) gave me that kind of service.

Let’s see; 28,899 million KrW 2nd quarter. Now last I knew Lineage was 64,000 KrW a quarter which would suggest that GW2 would be equivalent to 450,000 Lineage 1 subscribers in Korea who are on the 3 month plan. I think our sales are just fine.
RIP City of Heroes

But how much was GW2 quarter before? And after?
How much was L1 quarter before? And after?
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base.”
