GW2 best MMORPG ever made confirmed! :)
So anyway to enable mouse movement with the “action” camera? Mouse targeting is pointless if you can’t even move.
Action camera mode will get you slaughtered in WvW and Pvp… only benefits one game mode and even that is situational and that is solo open world pve… just sayin… There is a reason most other mmos do not use it.

Nonsense. It will make for a really useful toggle because it also brings advantages, like always running in the direction you’re pressing while not using skills, which will improve kite speeds during downtimes.
Not only that, but having snap ground targets will help any kind of melee-centric (as is all aoe in spvp) AoE-bombing. Spontaniously being able to turn off ground target snaps and toggling the camera modes instantly makes it, it’s just an extra on top you can learn.

no you wont be able to, but thats the whole point of this, getting a action based combat you will need to use WASD to play it

I disagree, ever fought an asura minion nekro for example? try “tabing” to target him or try to click on him just to target him, its not always that easy.
With Action mode you only need to SEE him, and then just point and shoot to hit him.
many people might not realize this yet.. but this will change the game and how it will play completly.
I will even try out granade engi for the first time because I am not forced to constanly press 1111 while targeting at the same time

The problems with WASD are many:
1.You can only move in big circles instead of smaller ones.
2.mouse gives much faster turning.
3.Mouse turning enables far more flexible and intuitive use of keys. The QWERTASDFGHZXCVB keys are within easy convenient distance of homerow, so if you need to use a skill you can press one of these buttons. I bind A to autoattack.
4.WASD is only limited by the four cardinal directions. Even a very old-school console controller does better than that:

Action combat like what Phantasy Star Online 2 has can only really work with a controller, and even that has inferior movement to a mouse where movement flexibility is maximized.

It won’t be the game I paid for and if I wanted that crap I’d play Tera instead.

I may be wrong but I think it’s set up so that the mouse button you normally hold down to move is set as “held down”.
ANet may give it to you.
@OP, you know you could’ve used the Combat Mode mod which was released about 3 years ago right?
Action Camera will suck if we can’t re-bind mouse keys.

first of all if you are not using wasd for movement already you are doing it wrong.. I mean you can play like this.. but it will cripple your overall reaction time.
secondly the turn rate will not be influenced in any way, having action mode on is like holding rightclick by default (which again you should already do 99% of the time)
and lastly and most important, if you dont like it, you dont have to use it..

Have you even watched the twitch about this? Sounds like you don’t know what you are talking about or I am totally misunderstanding you.
With this Action camera you will attack at the direction of your crossair and the camera and thus the crossair is moved with your mouse as if you where keeping left mousebutton pressed down (Yes, Left mouse as your character won’t turn as the camera turn). Instead of moving camera on Left and Right mouse buttons you now use your AA with left mouse and you set target with right mouse button.
Responses will be alot better with the combat camera so I will probably use it, though I am not used to it so it will be some time for me to adapt.
This is a very neat feature and the best thing about it is that you don’t have to use it. So don’t if you don’t like it.

This will only be worth anything in spvp. In ANY multiple target scenario this will get you killed bc of Field of View. To quote the great Dr. Grant, “Imagine if you will you are there alone with it and the attack comes… not from the front, but from the sides… from the two you didn’t even know were there…” That’s why this will suck except for solo pve content and spvp
To be honest- i played TERA for a pretty long time, and i must agree the combat system there is AWESOME! BUT… implementing it in gw2 would do no good to the game, in my honest opinion. I mained an archer there, and i remember that just actually hitting the target was hard as hell (in pvp… pve was no problem). I’d just avoid the warriors there because only hitting them was hard with all those jumps and i-frames… just imagine: having to actually aim at your target with ranged weapons- for example, ranger’s pew pew. Or staff ele’s main attack. It would ruin the game. Think- TERA did not have so much active damage mitigation but evading. It had no blind, protection, aegis, damage reduction, invulnerability, etc… timing your attacks between those in gw2 is not that easy, but just try to imagine what would happen when you put even more difficulty and require people to actually aim their attacks! It will rend most of the ranged weapons useless in pvp, and things would be way more hard to balance, since you’ll have more issues to consider…
BTW: I wish i could play my thief that way! It could be so so soooo exciting!!! ^-^
Please forgive my grammar mistakes… english is not my main language ;/

- just imagine: having to actually aim at your target with ranged weapons*
It’s actually fun…with a controller. In Dark Souls there’s a part in Anor Londo where a couple of silver knights shoot lances at you. You need to draw the lightning demons to try chasing you, fire arrows at them from the ramp to clear the space, then use poison arrows against the archers, all manual. But you could use your thumbs to control the camera and character and aiming with a thumb pad isn’t that great, but does have great potential, it just needs to be made more sensitive so there isn’t a fine line between it doing nothing and moving too fast.

Oh so looks like i misunderstood… sry if i sound offensive!!! >.< and if it would be that way, i think it’d be amazing
Idk much about technical things, so i won’t say what i thought about it… :P
Again, sorry if anything i said sounded offensive or too sharp… i still kinda struggle to understand how to say things nicely in english

You weren’t offensive or sharp, just confused
I have that problem a lot myself. ^^

To those who played tera and said it has the best combat of any MMO, i invite you to try Dragon Nest. (ignore pve, it’s a pay to win grindfest, play Pvp) by far the most fluid combat system in any MMO I have ever played. (I played as a warrior in Tera, and still think Dragon Nest has a better combat mechanic)
On topic. Coming from Tera and Dragon Nest, which are basically third person shooters, it took me a while to get used to GW2. Yes, at first I used Immersive Combat Mode when playing thief, but after playing necro found it very hard to use ground targeted skills, and so I ditched it and got used to the default system.
Having a togglable third person shooter option is AMAZING, granted you can do it with icm, but it breaks a bit after every patch. Now I’ll play all my melee and ranged classes with tps option, and only swap to default if I need to use ground targeted skills.

I played an MMO called Swordsman Online for a while, it had toggleable action combat mode or “traditional” tab target mode, along with a weird hyrid of the two.
It was great to be able to chose how you control your character, but action mode players did have a very clear advantage in PK/PvP
lol ok, never doing that again… I guess I take it back then.. bad game..

They prob speed read it and saw the first part, and figured it was criticizing the quoter. It happens.
Let me just say one name.. Joel Helmich
wall of text, typical for these forums.
just one question left, when can we play with this?
In TERA, you could block, evade and attack, in guild wars you can onyly lock on target like a special snowflake.
Thank you for your attention

They probably shouldn’t be moderating then.
