Guild Wars 2

Trying to decide on a torch skin for my toon, but all the galleries I’m seeing online are screenshots of the equipment preview window, which leaves out a very critical component of the torch: the flame. ...or particle effect in general - not all of them use fire.

Anywho, if any of you can direct me to a gallery of torches that are actually lit up, a link would be much, much appreciated!

...however, having searched the web for a bit myself, I’m thinking that such a gallery doesn’t yet exist. So, until someone does post a link, I’m going to start building a gallery right here.

If you have a torch that I haven’t listed yet, and would like to contribute, please bring it to a VERY dark place to showcase the particle effect; use an attack so the weapon is withdrawn, and then take your screenshot.

If there’s something unique about your torche’s particle effect, please mention it, and try to capture it in your screenshot (see Glyphic Brand for an example).

My location of choice is the dark room near the end of the "Weyandt’s Revenge" jumping puzzle, which is located at the southeast corner of Lion’s Arch. Pith black - perfect (pic with NO torch).

As in all things, but especially those involving fire, nudity is of course highly encouraged. Y’know... for science.

Those with links next to them have images of the torch in its lit state; but none of them are against a dark background, so we cannot see the glow it puts off onto the environment. While better than nothing, for the sake of consistency I’d like to get shots of these in a dark environment. Anywho...

My Mesmer is a Whisper Agent and my Guardian is a Vigil, I will go ahead and grab the torches from these two orders and share em as well.

Anywhere that highlights the color and intensity of their light would be ideal. The “Weyandt’s Revenge” jumping puzzle has a great spot near the end, cuz its literally pitch black, but any dark room / cave will work.

Lionguard Torch in sharkmaw caverns dark room. Its a candle inside a glass bubble. There is no trail effects. The flame moves slightly.

Radius of the light

Nothin’ fancy at all about the Destroyer Torch sadly. Looks like a normal torch effect, has an extraordinarily plain stick, and only has a puny little heat wave rising from the stick. Ah well, at least my quota for getting a Destroyer weapon is filled.

Trinity Torch/Beacon of Kryta

The screenshot shows Trinity Torch which have the same model as Beacon of Kryta.

Now this is one heck of a Torch, it’s not mine so I didn’t want to bug them about going somewhere darker & taking off their clothes (because that’s baaad). This seems like the best option for Guardians though. Shame it’s so rare.

I like the blue flame with my alt guardian and would love to work toward one.

I bought the Peacemaker’s torch for 63k karma and it didn’t have a flame at all. I was disappointed and stuck it in my bank. :-( Reported it as a bug, hopefully it get fixed as I had high hopes of it being a really nice torch.

has anyone found a gallery for torches yet? This is really great but incomplete still. Looking for something to go well with my mesmer who has the pink glowy thing going on with mist weapons for the other weapon set.

This is a good idea. Seeing the flames in the dark is nice. You guys should put those pics on the Wiki, though probably as an alternate pic and not the “main” gallery picture, since the main picture should probably be up close and in daylight to show the details of the torch itself.

I’ve got a few that aren’t on the list, I’ll see about grabbing some pics when I get a chance. Gonna be annoying since they’re all soulbound to different characters though, guess I’ll have to run Sharkmaw a few times.
