Game Updates: Guild World Events, Megaservers, WvW
The casual play of mega servers is a great addition to Guild Wars, however organizing larger events like Guild Missions is atrocious.
This last update, has made it much harder for my guild to coordinate events together. We end up on different maps from each other and have to reform parties several times to get into maps for guild missions or pve events we run. Work needs to be done on selecting a map for guild priority.
Currently the mega server majorly gets in the way on guild missions when a guild of 150+. Before the change it is not hard to get everyone in the same server, now it is a nightmare. Something needs to be resolved the guild missions situation.
Mega Servers are messing up the game experience for players in large guilds, guild missions, world events are a lot harder to enjoy with friends and guilds. Pls fix these problems.
We don’t want to completely get rid of it. No, i lie.. We do want to get rid of it if it stays the way it is right now.
However, if it’s to fully take over the game?
We want some options with it, so our communities won’t suffer the way they are now. We want to feel comfortable playing the game, like we did before. We want to have fun playing the game, without trolls trying to ruin it. We want to be able to RP in our game, which now is virtually impossible to do so.

Honestly, at this point, World Events aren’t even worth doing. I had settings on low, and still had worst lag than when Scarlet events were at their height! Forget for a minute all the other issues with guilds et al; the game is now, for me, unplayable. Just biting the bullet and merging some of the servers would have been a better option than this lag fest.
Just attempted guild missions with 145 people online. That went horrible. We had 1/5 in one zone, 2/5 in another zone, many just scattered all around. Took us a good 20 minutes each time to try and get in a semi clear zone to try attempting this as a large guild. Megaserver works great for having a full zone, but completely ruins our large guild experience.
definitely agree with this. terrible experience with the megaserver system so far
This mega server has hurt the guild I’m in. It’s harder to do Tequatl, something we enjoyed doing every night. We can’t do world events as a guild anymore. We just tried to do guild missions and spent more time getting people onto the same server than we should have.
I would like to have the old server way back or find a way to improve the mega server so the [EG] in SoR can do things together again.
Something needs to be done about this. GW2 is about GUILDS. I should be able to things with MY GUILD.
If you care about your players, you’ll do something about this mistake.
Sanctum of Rall
The new changes with Megaserver makes it difficult for large guilds to do any content together. It is now much harder to get large guilds into the same map for world events and guild missions. Today, everytime we did a guild mission, our guild would be put into several different maps, whereas we would easily get into the same map before.
Please revert the changes or fix them.
While it is nice for lower level area., mega server can greatly affects the experience of larger community. Organizing guild mission and guild event can be tricky. Limited use of mega server in area that do not affect guild mission is considerably better.
Megaservers Are Amazing for bringing all the various servers together for HotM Racial cities and open world areas. This has brought new life (or the illusion of it) to the game. But there isn’t any option for people in large guilds like myself to create our own places just for our 150+ people. If we can have something like this, it will greatly assist our members who do Tequatl Daily and All guild missions on the weekend =3

I love to see people always on the maps, the big problem with megaservers is that they mess with the big guilds.
Good & bad things of megaservers.
- Guild Missions are a chaos.
- World Bosses Train is a chaos.
- Map completion Is nice.
- Organized Guild Events a chaos.
- More troll chat between the community
- More
- and i feel bad for the people that cant run more than 4fps on the maps
PRX – MoAR – PEW
megaserver is great for solo players and all but, for people in larger guilds it is very hard for everyone in the guild to all be in a single instance since there are alot of random people that aren’t in the guild on the map. And then most of our guildies are seperated.
I come from a large guild that is pushing the guild cap on members.
We run world events everyday at reset, including Tequatl, Karka Queen, all the dragons. You name it – my guild is there.
We have been doing this for months on end.
Now that the MegaServer is implemented, the servers that have been converted have made it nearly impossible for even a fifth of our members to get into the same map.
1) The people in map chat complain and don’t complete the event.
2) All forms of chat are fluttered with directions of who is where.
3) It ruins our recruiting/advertising.
We try to remain a very large active guild always looking for great members looking to enjoy the game. With many different servers in the same map, we can’t grow.
Please change this.
We just attempted guild missions with my large guild and it was quite a horrific experience. It took us extra time to migrate all of our guild mates over to the correct server. There needs to be a better system in place for medium to large guilds to have the option NOT to use the megaserver system for guild missions/world boss events.
The idea of guild wars is to play with your guild and the mega server does not allow that to happen. Please figure something out to accommodate for large guilds.
Coming from a large guild, the megaserver has caused my guildies and I some serious issues. We do the large-scale, harder content events like tequatl and jungle wurm which normally requires us to get a large amount of guildies and friends into a singl map/overflow. The megaserver system has made this much more difficult. It is also negatively affecting guild missions for large guilds like ours (nearly 500 members) as well as medium-sized guilds. I believe the megaserver should eithr be revoked or overflows should have numbered names similar to GW1 to make it easier to get friends and guildies together. Thank you.
would it be possible to arrange that guilds can get all their people in the maps to do what they would like to do as a guild since the game IS called “Guild Wars” and has a lot of content that requires large coordinated guilds, not to mention guild missions?
I think the megaservers are great for this game and will help new players with the leveling process tremendously. If Anet wants to attract new players to the game, this is a great step. I can’t wait until the roll out is complete.
Thanks Anet!

There is a lot of good behind the megaserver system, especially getting people together on unplayed maps. It’s a great system. But it must be adjusted so that it does not kill this game’s large guilds.
This Mega Server thingy is kinda crazy. Being in a big Guild, this makes it hard to complete the Guild Missions as a Guild. Can you take a look at it an re-evaluate the way it is being done, or stick us back on overflows. Thanks in advance.
The new Megaserver system is making it much harder for large guilds to organize guild missions and guild events. It is splitting our members into various overflows causing much confusion.
To add to that, the World Event timers are horrible now, something like 4+ hours to cycle through the entire chain? Just no anet, no.
Lets fix this the first time, unlike some of your previous fixes http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Shadow_Form
Sea of Sorrows
This Megaserver in concept is a good idea, however it totally kittens big guilds(like the guild im in[EG]). The roll-out of the megaserver was not executed well at all, and it extremely hard for us to do guild events, and guild missions. Having my guild being split between 5 versions of the same map, deters from the concept of having guild presence in the world.
This would be great if players had the choice to opt out of the megaserver, and choose to stay within their own server. PLEASE FIX THIS kitten.

The megaserver system took away all the fun of doing random events and made the event timers useless, I miss those days when i could just log in and push events all over the world without having to wait for timed events, this new scheduled events are just no fun.
It is very challenging as a member of a large guild to be able to do events as a group like we used to. I am excited to do large-scale events such as Teq/Wurm/Guild Missions, but megaserver is making it very difficult to get all guild members into the same map. What is Anet going to do to address this need?
The Megaservers are amazing for people who are exploring and are new to the game. I am looking forward to map completion from this point onward.
BUTT. Megaservers are going to be a problem when all of the guilds and people from around the world are stuffing themselves into an event like, say, Tequatl and Guild Missions, all at the same time. This will create complications I am sure our Guild Leaders don’t need, since they are already trying to manage herding cats—now they have to manage stray cats as well.
The Megaserver is a good concept, but it has been horribly executed. Having a huge guild of 500 members and 150-200 members on at prime times, makes it near impossible to get the whole guild into the same maps for guild events such as World Boss Train, Tequatl, Wurm, and most importantly GUILD MISSIONS. It is in the games name, “Guild Wars” and the main focus of the game is the player community and guild’s, and this megaserver DESTROY’s guild activity. My guild of 500+ will be diminished to nothing with this megaserver and it will ultimately lead to the guild’s demise, and all the players not having a community to do events with. You also can’t recruit members for your own guild since it is multiserver, please resolve this megaserver and fix it.

Having a megaserver is a wonderful idea, except where it hinders the ability to play. I’m part of a large guild, and doing our weekly missions is tough enough without having to jump from one overflow to another to complete. Its not fair to huge guilds to be penalized, hope there is something you can do about it.
I’ll just add my 2 cents that any large mob events is taking a lot longer and is more frustrating from trying to get everyone together. i.e. guild missions.
I liked GW2 before megaserver came into play, ain’t so great now.
It’s become a lot more difficult to join my guildmates in doing world events and I’ve seen our guild spread across different megaserver maps whenever we try to get together for guild missions. Please fix it so that it is less difficult to do things as a large guild.
The megaserver idea was merely meant to conserve resources, yet they put their own spin on it. I really don’t care if there are others on a certain map, tbh. Most events can be completed solo. Waiting 10 minutes at Mannerheim Bolt-throwers in Snowden Drifts sucks.
Yes, I will be playing FF XIV as well as TESO. For some unknown reason FF xiv is able to put out new content with 1/10 or more the mb’s to download and take seasonal events without a patch.
If GW2 wants to really succeed they need to add permanent content, whether it be semi-annually or whatever. People will tire of being tossed from one map/world copy to another and leave. And, that is truly sad, as I loved this game, 4800 hrs. in a 12 month period, and I’d be happy to continue spending as I have been for gems (200-300$ a year or more) for that.
I’m from a large guild that has over 100+ members online most of the time and I enjoy running World Events, Guild Mission and Organize Events such as Teq & Wurm with them. However, the mega-server have stop or affected us from being able to do some of this events as we are split up into different mega-servers instead of pooling us together into the same server as promised.
The Megaservers are doing more damage then good for guild missions and world events. My guild has had trouble getting all members in one map to do guild mission. Many people could not get their commendations and was stuck on another server.
I am all for the majority of the feature patch but the roll out of the mega server and the new boss events are Ludacris and make the game play more of a torrid grind than a fun enjoyable event. I am a daily player but I also have a daym job and can not be on here at same times all the time so before the patch I had no worries I could come online at 7 8 or 9 pm my time (eastern) and could still get a few boss events in before I logged out for the night. with this patch I am unable to do that and to join my guild in missions is impossible it use to take us 45 minutes now we are having to spend well over an hour to do them and most of them we have to repeat because half the guild couldn’t get into the correct map
I am a member of Ethereal Guardians which is a major presence on Sanctum of Rall server. We maintain 500 members regularly. We are highly active. During peak hours we will have 200+ members online at one time. We greatly enjoy participating is large guild events to include daily Tequatl kills, guild missions and daily world event trains.
We do not like the Mega-Server update as it has caused problems with our ability to keep guild members together during these large scale events. I do not have an idea of how to fix this problem but I will say that this particular update has reduced the level of enjoyment our guild experiences.
Please consider removing the mega-server update if favor of the previous method of server administration.
Thank you.
The Megaserver is a very neat tool that was recently implemented. The problem with it though is that it encourages solo play and makes it difficult for a large guild to do guild missions, recruit new members or even do World Boss Trains as a group. The Overflow system that was previously in the game was very stable and should be implemented back into the game.
this new “mega server” is ruining big guilds activities! every bounty boss is getting clusterkittend, most guild members getting scattered across different megaflow,it is almost impossible to do guild missions without frustration now.
I have enjoyed the new feature pack that came out last week so far, though some of the changes are not as good as others. The wardrobe system is a stroke of genius. Making all ascended items account bound was something I found really helpful for my characters. The mega-server system, though, while good in theory, is actually bad for the overall game play experience. It has made running with my guild difficult because the system tries to instance everyone individually with both friends and guild members. That causes guild members who are also on each others friend lists to be sent to another server. It would be much better if this was an optional feature, or the feature had a menu to choose to be grouped with either guild members or friends, or both.
This introduced “Megaserver” Is such a fantastic Idea I just wish it was thought out a bit more.
I Solo level a lot and these past couple days ive been leveling and really enjoying it, So many people are around to help you and level with you, its fantastic BUT.. as you can see from the hundreds of posts above me there is a few Major issues. We need Anet to give us a response as to what there thoughts are on these issues. Why did they drop this update on us this way..
The new megaserver is terrible. It prevents large guilds from grouping up to do things like guild missions or events together. Another problem is bugged events in megaserver areas. The other day the Temple of Balthazar event was bugged and being that it was a megaserver map, guess what? There was nowhere else to go to buy obsidian shards with karma, and instead of guesting on another server to get them I had to wait for the event to fix itself. Personally as a member of a large guild it prevents us from working as a team. Megaservers are terrible in my opinion.
The new megaserver is a good idea, but doing guild missions is a little harder because we’re not all in the same map. If you could make this small adjustment, that would be great.
As part of a large guild, the Mega Server system doesn’t completely work well. Don’t get me wrong for everything else it works almost perfectly and fills up maps where they used to be barren but it also causes disruptions. When my guild does missions the Mega Server gets in the way of our large guild from all participating with one another and we end up having to do it twice for people who aren’t able to come with us because it fills up with other people from different servers also doing missions or dynamic events. It also makes recruiting from our server difficult especially for smaller guilds. The point of guild wars is to play with your guild! It would be nice if you guys could look into a way to allow this to be possible. Many thanks.
I don’t think the idea of a megaserver was well thought out. I’m part of a very large guild and this creates a nightmare on guild events.
Mega Servers are MESSING UP the game experience for players in large guilds, guild missions, world events are a lot harder to enjoy with friends and guilds.
I would suggest that higher tier guilds should be able open a “dungeon” that all guild members do the same events in the same map.
I think the MegaServer is a good concept, even though there have been some issues with it. It seems good for newer players as well as creates a better experience when leveling alts or re-experiencing non-dungeon PVE content, there just seems to be some issues that guilds have with this, primarily larger guilds.
I think one thing that might be a good idea for the MegaServer is to allow guilds to be able to create a temporary instance of maps potentially at a cost of around 100 or 200 influence to simply limit from being used at all times and allow this map to be guild exclusive and allow the players to swap into their guild’s hosted version of the map via a button in their map (and also allow others to potentially join into the map).
The main thing that I can see that might potentially not work on this is Guild Bounties, but if we could modify something like that I think it could cover that use case as well.
This last update, has made it much harder for my guild to coordinate events together. We end up on different maps from each other and have to reform parties several times to get into maps for guild missions or pve events we run. Work needs to be done on selecting a map for guild priority. Master Stygian
Personally I have spent over $500 on gem cards to support GW2 but I will not support this major game change
For all the good megaserver can do for open world players, it has negatively impacted the guild I am part of. For example, running guild missions is now a hassle as opposed to the pleasant experience it was for me in the past. However, seeing more people in maps is clearly a boon for levelling players and explorers. Which is why I’d like a solution for guilds that keeps the megaserver architecture while making it more manageable to run guild missions, world events and the likes as a guild group.
I’m sure the idea has been thrown around before, but creating guild megaservers appeals to me, as a member of a large guild. Maybe have it as an option where if a member of a guild enters an area, it automatically creates a guild overflow for them. There normal players (even non guildies) can enter until the soft cap is hit. Once that is done, the hard cap slots would be reserved to guildies.
This solution is not perfect but I feel it would be a good step towards facilitating play for what is, let’s not forget it, part of the game’s name.
I my opinion the megaservers is a NO GO at least for guild missions and world bosses, since how can a game call guild wars make their updates to affect guild activities, such as guild missions. My guild just try it and was a complete nightmare, i really hope you guys fix this or come out with a solution for big guilds.
This megaserver update is very biased against large guilds. It makes it very difficult for large guilds to do anything together. Anytime large guilds want to do a boss like Tequatl or Great Jungle Wurm or do Guild Missions all together, it becomes very difficult for all guildees to get into the same map. Developers should find a way to address this issue. If you don’t, people will start leaving large guilds simply because it’s too much of a pain. That means players that like to play in large guilds will probably stop playing the game altogether, because there won’t be any large guilds anymore. I think you should either increase the maximum number of players allowed in a single map, or find a way for large numbers of guildees in a single map to all join a new instance of that map all at once.
