Today I decided to make Zojja’s Reaver. Ok, fast forward 15 minutes I already have it. Next thing was to reskin it into Beacon of Light.

Here is the problem.

Before the patch, weapons name was also changed. Now it’s not. This is silly.

I wanted to reskin Zojja’s Blade with my Firebringer but for what? To have my epic burning sword called Zojja’s something?

I’m confused and shocked how stupid this pacth feature is.

Tribal gear as well as the other PVP only skins should be moved to the PVE vendors so as to help fascilitate more options for PVE skins.

The 5 free points for transmutation should be changed to 10 to help many people change not only their armor but their weapons (many people carry around with them multiple weapon types.)

Please make it so that transmuted items are named after the skin that is used, rather than of the weapon/armor which supplied the stats. It doesn’t make sense that a weapon that looks like a Tormented Staff is called a Berserker’s Pearl Quarterstaff

I will be requesting refunds for:

1 Cherry Blossom Shirt
2 Khaki Shorts
3 Leather Hoodies
14 Riding Clothes (these were about half pants, half boots, and one or two gloves)
3 Layered Vests
1 Ornate Shirt
1 Boxing Gloves
1 Cook’s Outfit
1 Witch’s Outfit

Needless to say, I consider this “upgrade” to be a massive downgrade and failure.

I still don’t understand why they didn’t just make clothing into universal armor skins which you could apply to your armor like any other skin. It would have been a heck of a lot better idea than what we ended up with.

The only really good thing I’ve got out of this entire Wardrobe experience is that now my Thief can run around wearing a backpack like the one my Engineer uses – which is pretty nifty, rp wise. Oh, and the preview wardrobe let me find a chest piece I really liked and hadn’t seen yet, so I went and bought that.

I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if

Suggestion:

Cultural and Order weapon and armor merchants that sell the unique skins as RARE should have another tab that sells only the unlock of the skins in the Wardrobe. Costs of these should be about 80% – 90% of the original rare items.

Lot of hate over the outfit system, and I can understand why if you built a custom town clothes outfit from lots of parts. On the other hand, however I must say I’m already getting more use out of the outfits I had than I ever did before by virtue of being able to use them as an armor skin.

Also, this is my elementalist. I went and bought the pirate outfit because she can finally use it as an armor skin. No more is she forced to suffer mini-skirts and princess dresses. She has PANTS, she has dirt, wear and tear! She can finally be the rough and tumble pirate she was always meant to be!

So yeah, I’m quite happy with the new system the only thing I don’t like is the tonic-form of town clothes since it prevents custom dyeing the outfit (unless there is something I missed).

Just to add to the feedback:

I am quite disappointed with the changes to the Transmutation system – I spend a great proportion of my (very enjoyable) time playing characters well under level 80, and feel strongly about being able to craft their looks to express their characters. In order to keep doing that I will have to spend 3x as many of a resource which was already somewhat limited (from my perspective).

Additionally, some of what I’m reading above about utilizing Runes from armor pieces which are out-levelled has me very concerned indeed.

All of this in an economic environment which I was led to believe would reward PvE play with less cash-in-hand.

I have consistently spent real money on additional character slots, and increases in the size of my bank. I will not, however, be led into spending so that I can change the look of my characters. I will simply end up not playing as much, when I don’t feel the game supports my desire to express my characters’ individual nature.

I love this game; it has been near-perfect to my mind. But these (minor detail) changes have done far more to dampen my enthusiasm than I thought possible. I would ask that the developers consider the changes and see if alterations are viable.

Turning outfits into tonics is terrible, and turning toys into bundle items is terrible.

Toys and Town clothes are account bound, not soul bound. If we wanted another character to wear them, we could transfer them from the bank. But the wardrobe is about easily maintaining skins and appearance and stuff like that.

There should have just been town clothes slots, and town clothes “weapon” slots. (Basically toys, and instruments, and kites would be able to used there.)

How would it be implemented? Right click → Store in Vault → Unlocked forever → Any character can use it. What the patch did yesterday was basically..

Have individual town clothes → Make them into a single item → Make them hardly dyeable → Turn them into a tonic → For some reason you have to keep the tonic on your person to use it → Turn a permanent, one slot toy item to the BL Armor guy → He gives you a permanent, one slot toy item back → Your characters have to have this on their person to easily switch.

I don’t understand the logic. We already own the toys / town clothes for our account, why not let our whole account access them easily by having them stored in the “vault” too? Isn’t the point of the wardrobe system to increase quality of life for people who do his? It just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Hello,
I have a question and I would apologize if this is already asked.
For Wardrobe and Dye unlock, will they stay unlocked even all the character in the account has deleted?
I wonder if the new character is still able to use the unlocked skins and dyes even after all the previous character has deleted.
Thank you in advance!

Unlocked is unlocked. You unlock your front door, it remains unlocked even if you lose your house key.

No you won’t. All you’ll get out of it is more gems. That is not a refund.

What if the only single reason you paid real life cash for gems were to buy that certain cosmetic item? That one article of clothing that is now a useless tonic? What are you going to do with those extra gems now? Buy some inferior cosmetic fluff perhaps?

“Sorry you lost your Designer Hoodie and Khaki Cargo Shorts. Perhaps you would like to be a Denny’s cook, pirate stripper, or snow globe ornament instead?”
“Err… no thanks.”

I would hesitate to do even that, patterns have shown that it could change into a tonic in the future.

I figured I’d throw in my two cents as well concerning this new wardrobe update. Because who knows maybe one more comment about this subject may be the tipping point for Anet to finally listen to its playerbase.

First off let me say that this new wardrobe feature was a step in the right direction but I personally think they could have done better. The ability to use outfits on multiple characters and in combat easily with the vault is brilliant. Although I’m extremely saddened that we can no longer mix and match sets. I, along with many of my friends, had customized their costumes with multiple sets such as my GW2 t-shirt, Mad King boots and gloves, Devil Horns, and Rider pants. Now all those sets are separate from each other and turned into tonics.

Why would Anet do this? I’m not sure anyone knows why but we are confident that they can fix this and will fix this soon! One simple solution would probably be to have all costumes/outfits/items into their own vault separated by pieces. That way you can customize your costume like you can customize your armor. Head, chest, gloves, pants, boots, item. Instead of having just one slot for everything.

Please Anet, please from the bottom of our RP hearts can you re-think your decisions on doing this? Can you return the highly customizable outfits/costumes back to us?

Hero panel is a mess.

When you open your Hero panel ( press H ), it would be nice if it would by default open on the equipement menu. As it is now we have a window with a lot of free space filled with nothing on a brown, muddy background that doesn’t look too good.

Not to mention there are obvous clippings. See the attachement for more details.

To be honest, I’m already sick of this transmutation bullcrap. I’ve kept this game on my harddrive despite not playing it very much. Why? Because it has potential. Because it is fun. However, if everything’s going to be tied to the godkitten gem store, then I’m not putting up with it. DCUO gives me this system for free, as does LOTRO, as does several other games. Hell, even Diablo rolled this out for a tiny in-game fee (though it could be better implemented).

A lot of people don’t seem to realize that GW1 actually had a free wardrobe system. You buy the skin in the cash shop and you have unlimited use of it on any character, at any time, including in combat, FOR NO ADDITIONAL FEES. That was the system many of us expected coming from GW1, but were disappointed with in GW2. It’s also the system that I was expecting to see implemented with this update.

When you’re paying $10 for nothing but an arrangement of pixels on your screen, getting nickel and dimed over when you are able to display it is abusive. I really thought Arenanet had learned that with this update. Again, my faith is misplaced.

I have the complete edition of the Mad Memoires, the flaming book from the first Halloween, and unfortunately I threw away the green incomplete version you required to obtain the complete edition. The first, green version of Mad Memoires was required along with more pages that were added in the Act 2 of the first Halloween to obtain the complete edition of the Mad Memoires, though both were left for separate use with the complete version having rare stats and better stats than the incomplete version.

There is no way someone out there is walking around with the complete version without having done Act 1’s quest on finding all the pages for the incomplete version of Mad Memoires. I think owning the complete version is enough evidence to support the ownership of the incomplete green version of the book back piece.

I do understand that my request could be denied since this is technically my fault, destroyed it after I got the flaming version, but having said what I said I’m still hopeful ArenaNet would reconsider an unlock for the first version of Mad Memoires if you own the complete version..

The application of the new skin need to change. When I double click to the GW2 ball cap, it automatically try to apply the skin to what I’m currently wearing. Instead, when I double click on it, it should simply add it to my wardrobe rather than trying to update the head gear I’m wearing.

So to add the skin to my collection, I have to purchase a throw-away head piece, replace my current head piece with the throw-away, then apply the ball cap to the throw-away — I shouldn’t have to do this.

At least prompt us to choose whether if we want to apply the skin now or simply add it to the wardrobe.

Also, can you please speed up the process of giving out refunds. You should already have a system in place, an NPC perhaps, that collects all the unwanted tradeoffs for a gem refund so we don’t have to wait for support.

I want a refund as soon as possible. Thank you.

As for the issue about our costumes needed to be “PAID AGAIN” for us to use it. That’s a complete BS. We bought it with real money ( for me I spent real money for my costumes ) and then I get this… Pay first for you to use!

This also applies to my Rox skins. I paid for them why do I have to pay again and again to use them? You removed our gold farms but you made sure that we throw more cash to you. A complete total BS is happening from what I can see.

I’ve seen so many posts about the high price of transmuting items on low lvl toons. but lets compare the current price with the past transmutation system again.

Before this patch, you need to actually buy the item/skin you want, then transmute it to ur equipment. Depending on what skin you want to apply, that would cost you at least 4g to hundred golds (thousands if u want to apply legendary skin). Right now, you only need to spend 3-4g/item (depends on the gem price) to access all the skins you’ve unlocked. so yea be grateful.

on the other hand, i hope anet notice the clipping issue when previewing the armor skin. There should also be an option to stow/wield your weapon so you can actually see how ur wpn looks on ur character.

I will be requesting refunds for:

1 Cherry Blossom Shirt

14 Riding Clothes (these were about half pants, half boots, and one or two gloves)
3 Layered Vests

1 Boxing Gloves

Needless to say, I consider this “upgrade” to be a massive downgrade and failure.

I have a few of those, but I’ll probably keep the witch’s outfit, as that can actually be used. I’d keep the cook if I had one, and considering picking up a pirate.

I’m mostly bummed about the khaki shorts, which they paired with big ugly boots and a big, ugly, frumpy shirt. Of course they were going to do that.

My concern about getting the refund is, if they maybe ‘change’ later how the khaki tonic looks, and it’s then appealing, but you can’t get it any more, then I’d miss out.

I wonder if they’d have any inclination to do something like that?

Otherwise, yes, the shorts and a hoodie I bought. Might as well get the gems back for them in the state they are in.

I understand where you’re coming from here, but from an objective viewpoint, you’ve lost nothing here, only gained. You got to use all your dyes while they were soulbound, you still get to use them. If you didn’t have every one of your dyes unlocked on every character, now you do. Benefit. In addition you get what equates to a 60G refund, which should cover MOST of your duplicate dyes, or can be put toward unlocking new colors you didn’t already have.

It does seem unfair that new players won’t have to put in the same time and/or money to unlock dyes across multiple characters, but it’s still really a win all around. I say be happy for the unexpected and strictly unnecessary refund.

Much of what is being complained about isn’t really a surprise. They warned about the tonics previously as well as other aspects.

However, they also said that all previously unlocked skins would be available and they aren’t. I am missing whole sets of armor that I know my characters wore and so by ANet’s definition, would be unlocked. Cultural human armor is missing as well as every single PvP armor gotten.

I also dislike the rename of my duelist armor. Please reconsider the rename that was done for some of these armor pieces. Sneakthief? Honestly? They aren’t the only class that uses this armor.

I would like the karma armor pieces I’ve unlocked and the cultural armor pieces to be available. As I never bothered with costumes I can’t get too worked up about that. The functional aspects though would be nice to have since that was what was promised.

Worst Patch ever IMO.

I have been playing since day 1 when the game got released and I was very very happy until this patch.

The wardrobe system in itself was not a bad idea but it brings really annoying problems such as in PVP you most likely don’t play the same weapons as in PVE… This forces you to carry extra stuff in your bags.
Also I really liked the fact that I could look like a bad boy in PVP and like an honest polite and helpful character in PVE. Not possible anymore unless I spend 5 transmut charges when I do the swap of environment.
The wardrobe in itself… sucks (sry to use this term but it sums it all). You cannot do previews on the skins before applying them for a charge. (well… Ohh you mean preview right in the middle of the screen?? Well when I want to apply a torch skin to my torch and it is at my belt… I cannot see what type of flames it produces. Same for some scepters and staffs. I also cannot see what I look like when I hold my weapon in my hand).
Also there is no going back, you make a mistake…. you pay for it! LITTERALLY!
Plus once the transmutation has been done there is no notification on the item transmuted of the skin you used. Try to match your whole armor when you need to browse through your dozens of skins per piece! Terrible!!!!

It really feels like you guys (ANet) think we are cash cows… If you need more cash for the game to evolve do like other games (Wow, etc.) and release a new extension that we all be happy to pay for cause the work done is great instead of trying to find subtle (not subtle at all by the way) ways to force us into spending more cash. I feel OUTRAGED!!!!!!!

Also the PVP system was a master piece allowing players to tailor like crazy their armor set and stats. Now everything as been “plain-ified” and basically you are left with a limited set of full armor runes to chose from. Was I the only one to mix 2 different sets of runes on my armor? In addition, you can now buy extra competences that gives you an edge over your opponents… I thought that the whole point of the original system was that the outcome of combats was purely skilled and build based and not based on who had spent the most time in the game. (sry I am mostly a PVP player and I do not want to go chase 25 × 4 competence points to unlock the new trait available IN PVP!)

I am not even talking about town clothes cause I think most people got that pretty well explained so far (especially Charr.gardian on page 6 of this thread).

Finally, there has been WWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYY to many changes in one go for an average (non-hardcore) player (most of us) to follow everything clearly of what was changed.

I am pretty sure this is the worst thing that happened to this game, basically I personally hate it.

Cheers
J.

PS: I may really stop playing the game, feeling conned…

Yes, you can preview all of these things. There are checkboxes for “Wielded” and “weapon only” in the preview window. That’ll give you your particle effects etc. If you click on each armor piece you want in your bank storage, it will also add it to your preview. You can customize to your heart’s content without ever spending a charge.

Please put back a venue for transferring runes/sigils from armor and weapons to armor and weapons. It’s absurd to have to repurchase these items (which are sometimes extremely expensive) or to have to buy items from the gem store in able to keep them. And no. Black Lion kits are not the answer either, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll have any on hand without having to purchase them from the gem store.

At least you guys have your town cloths. My witch outfit, horns, toys etc. all still remain hidden on my toons – I know from the hats for sure, because when hovering over my quaggan hat, that is in my inventory, I can see them as “currently equipped”.
I can, however, not equip the quaggan hat. Rightclicking it only gives me the option to destroy it & it is not a selectable skin in my wardrobe. My outfit isn’nt in the bank or any other wardrobe, either (any towncloth, really). The Black Lion Weapon Specialist doesn’t have any options for me, other than ticket skins, the link to the BLK and smalltalk. x3

Go to the NPC called the Black Lion Armor speicalist in DR…and choose the option to convert your town clothes. Then double click on one of the ones he gives you to unlock it. You have to do it on each character.

Plus, many things are still unsalvageable— karma armor, etc. Black Lion kits won’t help with those at all.

It’s not that gems are functioning as expected because he need only show that the gems were purchased with the express intent of using them for those items that have now been changed.

The trouble is that Arenanet, no doubt, has a clause in the ToS (I’m not looking it up) that allows them to make any changes they want to the game, regardless of player approval. Changing the functionality of in-game items that required real money to obtain, falls under that clause.

Sadly, the only recourse we have is to stop buying gems from here on out. But when you think of it, there’s power in that too, IF players choose to exercise it. And that’s a very big “if”.

You, the devs, have to fix the former town clothes. The new system is totally odd. Some pieces are armorskins now, some are tonics and some are sets, which you can’t mix.
This is broken, no workaround.

I thought I would not like the tonics, but…

Now I hate them. You can even dye them. Talk about going from bad to worst. I was hoping at least the shorts would turn in to armor skins but now they added a really bad top to them!

I thought the wardrobe would have all the skins you have previously unlocked and salvaged, yet my wardrobe only shows the skins I have unlocked since this patch. Or have I got it wrong?

@Pink:
You got that right! All the past armors you used are not unlocked. Only the ones you used & have before the patch. Everything else, you don’t have them unlocked.

Seriously, I don’t want to refund the clothes which got converted to tonics. I want them to be fixed. This is complete nonsense. They shouldn’t break a working system, replacing it with a much worse one and justify this with “we couldn’t do better”. If you can’t do better, then leave it.

I will be requesting refunds for:

1 Cherry Blossom Shirt
2 Khaki Shorts
3 Leather Hoodies
14 Riding Clothes (these were about half pants, half boots, and one or two gloves)
3 Layered Vests
1 Ornate Shirt
1 Boxing Gloves
1 Cook’s Outfit
1 Witch’s Outfit

Needless to say, I consider this “upgrade” to be a massive downgrade and failure.

I have the pirate and winter outfits, but as I never broke them apart, I’m not asking for refunds on them. Aside from some annoying coloration changes, they’re still doing what I got them for.

The witch and cook outfits, though, I had broken up to use as parts. My charr necromancer was running around with the witch torso, with the cook hat (a cage muzzle on him) and boots (large, metal claws strapped to the feet). He looked like a seriously dangerous, black magic using charr. Using the witch or cook costume as a whole, though, loses a LOT of that.

The cargo shorts were on guys that didn’t have shirts. Given that any tonic they make from them has to work on both males and females, they’ll never make them shirtless tonics. Again, might as well get the refund.

I’d say they’re taking their time on it, but I’m betting they’re getting pounded by these requests. I know I hope they are.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

The thing is they decided to fix the system issue about the wardrobe, weaponry and armory department of the game. I for one agree that it needs a bit of fixing but a complete overhaul was NOT the solution which they opted for and the end result is a lot of us players end up suffering because of it.
