I feel that when you purchase something off the gem store in the form of a cosmetic item located in the Style tab, that it should be reusable for any character of the appropriate armor type ( Light, Medium and Heavy ) or weapon type.

Some points to consider on the business side of things :

1. It entices more people to make these purchases since the style items will skyrocket in value due to the fact that this game promotes the creation of alternate characters

2. If the items are enabled as an unlimited resource ( such as the new Zenith achievement items ) it will eliminate any room for failure when it comes to accidental deletion of one of the items ( granting peace of mind ) or accidental transmutation ( ANet offers only 1 refund on anything related to these issues )

Listing any points for players themselves would be a waste of space, its obvious this is the better route for the customer which is irritating in the sense that ANet also knows this, yet doesn’t seem to actually care about the consumer when it comes to the gem store in particular.

Guild Wars was able to do just fine in terms of funds as far as I know with the above system ( content was still being produced in the final months leading up to Guild Wars 2 ).

This all came to me as I was trying to decide which character to purchase Brahams armor for. I have 2 heavy users, but I can guarantee that I will never purchase the armor for both of them, which means ( in my case at least, voice your opinion! ) that it would not actually affect the amount of funds you guys would have received from me.

This system would be a huge improvement and would entice more players to buy these items thus resulting in more money. Happy consumers, happy producers!

I really hope you guys look into this ANet.

I agree 100%. This is why I haven’t bought any armor skins or costumes yet.

I wish you got an infinite number of skins, it’d be nice and I do think that more people would purchase them that way, but even still I don’t think that will happen any time soon. Maybe as skins get older or something, I dunno.

On a side note, Im so glad we didn’t have to wait til the 6th for the new skins! Soooo glad cause I really wanted the medium one for my thief, so thx Anet for not making us wait :>

I recently bought the heavy skin, and was pretty shocked to see that it was a temporary item, considering it was TEN DOLLARS I figured it would be more like the achievement weapons that can be put on very easily. I am pretty disappointed that a game with a system such as the achievement weapons already in place does not use said system for the expensive gear from the shop.

ohmygod you people will complain about anything. First “you can’t buy individual pieces of the skin noob anet”, now “these skins are exactly the same as the other style skins since release, but I want more now because ANet has shown some generosity”.

Every. Single. Other. Skin. sold in the gem store has been like this. Why would you expect it do be any different? Because ANet was nice enough to give us free, unlimited skins you’re mad that everything doesn’t come that way?

Whilst I don’t think they should make it a one time purchase, I do think what they should do is that after you’ve bought it, the price goes down for you. That way it actually rewards you for spending more. And after you’ve bought the same skin 3+ times you’re probably not going to buy it again after, unless you REALLY like that skin.

I don’t think this is an unreasonable request, and have said as much on the suggestions forum version of this thread. Especially since you can’t just move your skins from piece to the other, you have to literally destroy something to transmute something. In basically any other game on the market where skins are the big real cakittenems, you get much better mileage out of them. In this game you have to A) have another set of gear to put it on, and B ) have somewhere to stash gear you’re not using. This is no big deal for first or second time purchasers, but in the long run, these limitations will very likely turn folks off of buying yet more skins. If a year from now I could just pop out another copy of the Aetherblade skin, I would have no problem dropping Magitek on that set. As it stands now, buying more skins, you’re literally working against yourself.

Plus, as stated above, the other way worked just fine in the original Guild Wars.

The possibility of physical and mental collapse is now very real.
