On the wings in the gem store it says 7 days only does this mean you only have 7 days to buy them or does it mean they only last 7 days?

If its only a 7 day duration what is up with that why are they not permanent?

You only have 7 days to buy them. Once purchased they last a lifetime on your account.

As with all such sales, it means you have 7 days to buy them from the gem store. Once you have bought them, they are permanent.

They put items up for sale then remove them again, then put them up again later. The wings especially tend to be up for only a short time before being removed.

I don’t understand this logic at all. I would have bought so many things that they have taken out of the gem store because I had to take a month off or whatever for work & travel. This happens all the time so I rarely ever buy anything from the gem shop.

It would make more sense to leave all the gem shop items in there, they would make more money from people being able to actually purchase them beyond a freaking week, and the gem shop wouldn’t feel so kitten barren all the time.

Am I wrong?

I think their line of thinking is if it always available, you won’t be so eager to give them your money… you’ll procrastinate. Money lost. Boo hiss!

If it is “limited time only!” you’re more likely to hurry and get it “NOW!” before time runs out, and it might not come back again.

Yes.

In the store for months on end: borrrrring, maybe I’ll buy it tomorrow, or maybe not.
Removed then put back in later: IT’S BACK! BETTER GRAB IT WHILE IT’S HERE!!!

People will put off purchases of items that are sitting for long periods of time as they figure they can always buy it later.

All such sales in this game. Other games really will sell you new skins that only last a short time and then you have to buy it again to keep using it. Sounds crazy, and I’m amazed anyone is willing to do it, but it does happen.

But fortunately GW2 has never done that, and I doubt they’d ever dare try.

As for why they don’t keep everything up for sale all the time there’s 2 reasons:

1) It gets people like me to buy them. I can be incredibly indecisive with things like this (where I know it’s technically a waste of money, but it’d be fun) and if things are always available I might sit on the fence forever thinking maybe I’ll get it one day. If they threaten to take it away I have to make a decision and I’m more likely to get on and buy it.

The downside of course is that if I’m not at home (as often happens) I can’t buy it even if I wanted to. But apparently they’re willing to risk losing sales from people who can’t be online to get them from people who are just undecided.

2) It stops the gem store getting cluttered with items and makes it easier for people to see all of what is currently available and decide what to buy.
