The orders where prehyped in the early part of the game, and later almost completely forgotten about.
So I had an idea that would make the orders involved in PvE again;

Missions!
Go to your base whichever of the three that is, and complete missions for your order. They will be hard to complete and require a small party in an instanced area. Talk to an order representative to enter the instanced area

Types of missions:
-Escort
-Recover
-Hold
-Search and Destroy
-Infiltration/Assassination

Each order will give one mission every day. They will be hard to complete, so you will need at least 2-3 people. Other people may be of other orders so long as the initiator is of the right order.
Every order has a preference for how each mission goes.

Rewards will include up to 50s-2g depending on difficulty. A box of recovered equipment/materials and an Order’s Insignia, which serves as a payment for exclusive items.

other than that you can also complete events in areas affiliated for an order to build up “Influence Points” with your order. Everytime you rank for your order you get a new NPC unlocked for you, and more difficult missions. Also, say there would be 10 ranks, rank 3, 8 and 10 would also include a skill for your order.

Escort
Escort a certain unit to or from a location, or back and forth.
When the unit dies it’s game over (no reviving)
If you escort a group, reward is based on succes percentage

Recover
Enter hostile area and recover an item. This item functions as a bundle, so the carrier cannot fight. Item can be destroyed if carrier dies. Enemies can use special weapons to attack you (like catapults and traps)

Hold
A location is under attack. protect the base and the people in it. As enemies infiltrate the base and kill the things/people you protect your reward decreases.

Search and Destroy
Enter a hostile area to either destroy that area (by planting bombs) or to destroy something in it (like a document or construct)

Infiltration/Assassination
Enter a hostile area, functions like an interactive jumping puzzle. Get to the end of a hostile area without getting caught in traps or drawn aggro by enemies. At the end, quickly dispatch of a boss before he can sound alarm

Ah yes, I see.
That post had a similar idea. Only summarized in 3 lines :p
Still, if more people talk about it and come with ideas, it raises the hope ANET will notice and do something with it
