Hello, I’m one of the original Guild Wars players. I have been hearing many complaints about the Giant Slayer Achievement. It appears that the one event to make it playable is bugged ( "Brisban Wildlands – the event called “Broken Golem“ ). With only the one giant to kill (A Champ)…it will take an average player 6 months at best to make this work. For me and others that work and only have limited play time…1 to 2 giants a day = about 2 years or more. Please consider changing the Tier system on just this one Achievement. Like Tier 1=10 / 2=20 / 3=30 and so on to max at 100 (done). I know the game mechanics may now allow one Achievement to be changed. The other thought, allow the other Giants on maps like Straits Of Devastation to count as giants on the achievement count. These are just recommendations because when you built GW2, you listened and heard us players on ideas and how the game should be…by the way, Thank you – Thank You – Thank You … GW2 beats WOW and DDO in my book and many friends feel the same. So please pass this up the line … see what happens…thanks again

Don’t worry, it’s still better than slaying one million dolyaks.

There are actually 2 champion giants. One in Harathi Hinterlands and one in Diessa Plateau.

THe Yakslapper achievement would take someone about 4-5 years of doing nothing but killing doyalks.

There are a couple who have gotten Yakslapper already so it’s doable in under 4-5 years.

No one could possibly got even close to have yakslapper.

As of today, game have been out for 674 days.
1 000 000 / 674 = 1483
1483 / 24 = 61

So to get yakslapper by today, you would need to average slightly over 1 dolyak kill per minute, 24/7 for 674 days straight, Without taking even a bathroom break.

So yeah, giant slayer is really a walk in the park compared to that.

I also killed a few in Brisban for an event called Broken Golem.

That event can scale up actually and it would spawn 4-5 giants if there are enough people around. If you are lucky you can do simultaneously 2 other events on other servers via guesting. Just start it, kill giants, guest, repeat.

There is one in a dungeon as well, Kudu’s monster in COE story. So if you really want that achievement, farming the champ in Nageling, Kol Skullsmasher and Kudu’s monster once a day would take about a year.

Except that nowadays, guesting is likely to put you on the same shard you came from.

I tried guesting when Balthazar was closed on my server. Guested the allowed 2 times and both times was on the server I started from.

I already brought this up 3 months ago, and I’m sure others have done so earlier than that. I don’t think ArenaNet has a problem with this achievement or it’s ridiculous requirements. My suggestion is to not bother with that achievement.

The problem I have with this thread and hardcore AP farmers is that people must have these achievements now. Like…. yesterday.

Sure… Play how you want – and if that is grinding to get every possible achievement then feel free. But please don’t cry foul if the current condition in game isn’t conducive towards farming giant kills. Maybe one day there will be a dungeon, LS event, or map that has loads of giants. Anything is possible.

The game is almost 2 years old. Most people only have a few giants killed. That’s hardly having this achievement now. Like…. yesterday.

I’ve gotten all of my slayer achieves by playing naturally, not by grinding them out. When all except one is gotten by playing over the course of 2 years and the one that is left has only a handful of kills done then that one is unbalanced.

WvW titles are unbalanced. I don’t feel this one is, personally. I am also well aware of how old this game is. However I would have more to say towards not adding more content in all that time than saying – “This title is harder because I’ve not had enough giants. Because it wasn’t as easy as all the others, its not right.”

Would be nice if we just had a few more giants to kill. It wouldn’t be too much to ask that Anet make the giants in Orr count towards the achievement. They are giants, they are only risen giants.
In fact it would be nice if they would differentiate more than just the giants in Orr. Risen are all the same it seems.

Maybe we’ll get new giants as a regular mob in new zones? That would be nice.

It would also be nice if risen giants counted as giants rather than undead. I have 21 giants killed, but I also haven’t gone out of my way (yet) to work on that last slayer achievement.

An easier solution is to just add more giants in the game to kill as a regular spawning creature.

I’ve got over a 1000 hours in this game and 2 giants credited, one from the Charr area and one from that cave in the highlands. I think the best solution would be to mark the risen giants as giants, since those do get killed quite often. But I think these type of achievements are at the bottom of priority for ArenaNet (to fix them that is). Just enjoy the rest of the game, perhaps they will change achievements in 1 big chunk at some point to fix the crazy ones such as this one and the WvW ones.

We are about to go into Maguuma, that is where we find the one set of giants in the game (main one at least). I’d be willing to bet gold that they will add giants to this region.

I would like to see more giants available to kill. Not necessarily in the same area or something you would be able to farm easily but give us more than the three locations we have available to us now.

Brisban Broken Golem event, while nice it spawns multiple easy to slay giants depending on number of folk you have, is a pain to wait in between events and it is even longer if someone helps the golem succeed. And gods help you if the event sticks which it seems to do a lot any more. At least the Diessa giant spawns fairly often and there are things to do while you wait right in the area so you can keep an eye on the town. I never got the champ giant in Harathi – there was never anyone in the area pre-mega server. I may go check to see if that has since changed.

I am at 144 giants and not really dedicating time to pursue this achievement unless I have time to devote to the respawns in Brisban since that currently appears to be the only way to get enough multiple giants to make small progresses.

Please add a couple of more giants elsewhere in the world that we can get or at least make some of the Risen giants count towards the achievement.

Well with the megaserver I no longer having problems finding people to take down the Nageling Giant, which spawns roughly once or twice an hour. Before the megaserver using a site that tracks how long a zone event was running, I saw the Giant roaming the city at times over 10 hours and I’m on Jade Quarry. Now it’t polished off in 5-10 minutes. I’ve killed it at least once a night, every night since the Apr 15th patch (I mine silver and iron in that zone).

We are heroes. This is what we do!

I was happy before the megaserver, I could go and solo the champ 3 times in a row in underpopulated servers to train myself and evaluate my performance. Now I have to kill it with dozens of people. I honestly killed it way faster solo in the past than we all do in group now… I did than for a couple of months, but I don’t play this champ anymore now, The fun has gone along with my server.
