Glory Boosters gone...nothing in return
We were warned before Christmas that glory was being phased out. ANET sent out numerous blog posts, live streams etc It was no secret you had to use them before the patch or you’d loose em.
Gaiscioch Family [GSCH]
use it or lose it huh….wasn’t told that at time of purchase
TLDR : You are screwed. Basically if you don’t follow their twitter/facebook/twitch/forums/diaries and you just play the game. You are screwed.
I had a huge stack of these as well. Anet should have converted them into a different boost like WvW or something. The fact that they didn’t is terrible customer service.

Pretty much like any other MMO.
If you follow the official forum you’ll get all the info needed to not get screwed.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

They said repeatedly to use them up as they are not replacing them. The fact that you are dumb enough not to read and heed what they said, is NOT their fault and does not make it bad customer service. It is YOUR FAULT ALONE.
The information was also included on the news that appears on the loading screen.

Obsolete items that were acquired from chests or rewards rather than purchased directly from the Gem Shop are not refundable. They made this clear on several occasions.
RIP City of Heroes

Your whiteknighting logic is faulty.
Announcing that they are making a poor customer service decision does not remove the fact that it is a poor customer service decision.
Their reasoning:
We will not be converting glory boosters because we announced that we would be phasing out glory in John’s blog post and it wouldn’t be fair to the players that used up all of their boosters since then in preparation for it.
You got wardrobe, acc-bound dyes, wxp, tdm in spvp, trans charges for free, -//- per spvp rank, trait reset anywhere, new traits, spvp reward tracks, 20k per rank on 39+, etc etc.
Glory was removed so you could not use glory boosters anyway now. I had like 180 of them and i do not care, i see this patch as the best one and i am glad that they did the things with tracks. Deal with it.
Lesson learned artkin.. Dont buy keys with cash. Do what them other people do and flip chars clearing zones.
I had 200 glory boosters.
And thousands of pvp materials, tokens, etc.
There’s been worse issues. Deal with it.
edit: It’s not like you bought those keys in the hope of getting boosters…
Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!

How is it a poor customer service decision when they warned us all several times, and well in advance, about the change to glory? Just because you refuse to read any patch notes, or notes warning of coming changes does not mean it’s a poor customer service decision.
It’s noone’s fault except your own. Take some accountability and deal with your poor decision.
Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.

It is like Microsoft announcing that they will not be supporting Win XP any more. People are whining and complaining but they made sure they stated it in no uncertain terms. This was done the same way. It has nothing to do with customer service and everything to do with arrogance from the players.

The GW2 forums have a few thousand users; but GW2 allegedly has millions of players.
I happen to agree that important announcements should happen in game.

Come come now. If they did that people would be smarter and more privy to changes.
That being said, it would have been nice if glory boosters, PvP salvage kits etc. would have been turned into something else – whether it was to sell them to an NPC for a few copper, or exchange them for food, community boosters or some other ‘fun item’ that doesn’t do much… it wouldn’t have cost ANet anything, but wouldn’t have left players feeling that they got “nothing for something”.

It’s not like forum feedback ever stopped ANet from creating facts, so I don’t see the harm in informing the users.

It was on PC Gamer, GW2 Reddit, MMORPG, etc. It was all over the place. Why should it be announced in game? People ignore in game announcements anyway – ‘NEW BUILD – restarting game in 30 minutes’ – player 1 – ‘Dang it – I just started a dungeon’ – player 2 – ‘I saw the announcement – why didn’t you?’
Then why have said ingame announcements if people ignore it anyway? If people ignore it ingame then why even bother with out of game announcements?
“People ignore in game announcements anyway – ‘NEW BUILD – restarting game in 30 minutes’ – player 1 – ‘Dang it – I just started a dungeon’ – player 2 – ‘I saw the announcement – why didn’t you?’”
Used to be build changes popped up in middle of screen for a second or 2. If you have lots of text filling you message box the new build message can zip by terribly fast.
As has happened to me numerous times when my guild mates are yapping on guild chat.
