What do you think will include in the Feature Update coming soon?

- I’m assuming a big update to SPvP and PvE, something like cross PvP/PvE armor and weapons.
- Better SPvP reward/rank system.
- WvW update. Stuff from Eotm added to main WvW map.
- LFG Tool improvements.
- Huge balance update for all classes. (Ranger mostly)
- New weapons added for each class.
- New traits or a new trait tab for weapons only.
- Update to Dungeons.
- Reworked mob AI.

I have no clue whatsoever. Anet has been tight-lipped about their “behind the scenes” actions. Hopefully it’s something amazing that they will be adding to the game that has nothing whatsoever to do with Living World.

Probably something circling around living story, like the ability to replay things you have missed. This would be good, but still…its just another step toward living story and another step away from things like dungeons, open world PVE, etc.

Yes I am bitter. I will be bitter until they give us incentive to play the way we want to play(which is what they said we could do) and be rewarded for it as much as we would be if we grinded out zerg LS content. I want to log into Timberline Falls and just play DEs and get the same rewards as if I were grinding out the LS zergy content. Until that day where I can play how I want to play and not feel like Im missing out on resources and reward, I will be bitter.

Coming soon is maybe not the words. The big feature update won’t be there until april or may.

We already know that they gonna release the runes and sigil rework, the 10% nerf to full DPS build, the addition of ferocity and a profession balance.

We can also speculate that the WvW account wide update, new legendary weapons, new legendary items and precursor crafting. All those things were announce a while back and fit in the feature update.

It will be a feature ’’only’’ update. So forget already any new content like new PvE zones, or update to dungeon (content update, they could fix bug or things like that).

Other things that i think could be in the feature update (but its pure speculation):
- New Traits or skills
- New Weapons or use of current weapons by more professions.
- sPvP system change especially for reward like they said they were working on.
- LFG tools improvements (our current tools is still in beta)
- General Quality of Life and UI improvement (Guild Tab, Party tab, commander tag, etc.

So you will basically be bitter until you can stand around talking in [insert town here] and get Legendaries, full Ascended gear and all achievements? Because that is what you are saying.
Some people want to play the game like that, and by your logical they should get the same rewards as those that actually play all parts of the game.

I guess reading is not one of your strong points.

I do not want to sit around in a town and be rewarded for it. I never said that. Don’t know where you got that.

I want to play the dynamic events that launched with the game. In any zone I want. I want to do this without feeling like Im missing out on the “flavor of the week” grinding spot. I don’t want to feel obligated to move to the “funnel/zerg zone” in order to acquire materials. Grinding in these zerg zones that the LS creates would force me out of what I want to do in order to acquire any wealth.

LS content are not really rewarding btw. It give you access to unique item that you can only get from LS content true, but I think that a good idea, that give a purpose to the LS. For exemple, I tried the current LS content with my friend. I make sure i did all the events at least once i had a good time and now i want to get some of the reward : 1 back item and the selfless potion. But this won’t give me good reward exempt those 2. I will have more reward by doing fractal, dungeon, champion train or world event zerg.

So it will be the same sorts of things we already get in updates. New armor skins, non-LS achievements (like the EOTM and Wurm ones), updates to existing zones, etc. Maybe some big changes like when they added laurels to dailies or revamped the achievement system.

But nothing we wouldn’t have gotten anyway.

What they learned from Southsun was that making new maps was totally not worth it given the amount of work required and the extremely short window between content release and players getting bored of it and asking “so when’s the next one?”.

To be honest, I totally got cesmode’s point without having to take it to such extremes, but I am oblivious to forum vendettas so I might be missing something.
Are you saying this because you feel like open world should stay as unrewarding as it is now (aside from LS content, champ trains and some heavily scaling gated bosses) or just because you like arguing semantics?

Either way, I hope they make open world worth it again at some point (and I am not just speaking of rewards), it is really painful to see all that work go to waste. I do doubt that they can make it happen by the next feature update .

As for what else the feature update may hold, aside from some confirmed stuff (which might still be prone to delay) we can all just guess.

I don’t think that’s very accurate of the lessons learned. The lesson they learned most was around the event they held for it, and how most players viewed it as a massive failure. The zone itself is a success. People are regularly doing the events there, and I farm for shells fairly often. Great zone with a shadow of a failed experiment hung over head. When it comes to new zones, I just feel like they are waiting for the right time. What need is there for a new zone ATM? While I feel the player base wants new zones, the LS is filling the new content need, and until it or an addition to the PS dictates new zones, Anet will wait.

New maps would be great if they just used old gw1 locations and history.
Less Live Story dedicated tokens.
How come these new maps get boring so fast? People play the live story in a few hours/minutes, farm the tokens for their new epic backpiece and demand a new update.
If they put in more detail and nostalgia plus content that actually requires you to think before playing. That will grant content to last longer.

Imagine if they would add the Crystal Desert map as the new explorable map. There are unlimited ways of making the lifespan of this content longer.

  • Add quicksand places that trap some players walking close to eachother in an underground mazelike tomb
  • Add Junandu wurms that will eat you in one bite if not navigating correctly
  • Glints lair remains
  • Ascension Rock
  • The challenges from GW1
  • Doppelganger
  • Tomb of Primeval Kings!

So you’re saying Anet has given up on releasing any more of the map? What I HOPED they learned from Southsun was how NOT to rush/create a map, and have begun to improve on their zone creating abilities. If they’ve given up on making new maps because of the failure of Southsun, then they’d might as well give up on this game altogether.

Southsun was a failure because it wasn’t a full zone with hearts, events and a good story/lore.
Zones in GW2 usually have some kind of lore for that specific zone, the hearts, events and everything makes sense. Southsun didn’t. It would have been good if it was a bit bigger filled with new stuff to do.

I do think we’ll get some more areas.

I heard they had already mapped out a massive area for the Tengu … that would be cool. It would be amazing if they kept it all secret though and then suddenly, just one day someone finds they can go through a random portal and find The Dominion of Winds …

But honestly, I don’t know. I’d like more playable areas, maybe another race, but I don’t know if that will happen. I’d love to go to the Crystal Desert … they could use assests from the Badlands in EOTM. Otherwise, I expect it will be more of the same.

Oh – I DO need more bank space, yet again!

Anet called some of their previous releases an expansion’s worth of content, so their idea of a huge feature update might not live up to everyone’s expectations, just saying.

Mainly I expect a lot of quality of life upgrades and balance changes, and I’m hoping we’ll get the precursor scavenger hunt/crafting as well as a wardrobe function for PvE skins.

I disagree, GW1’s expansions had new classes, new skills for existing professions and new continents with their own story, quests, items and challenges, new pvp modes and other features, which is about what I’d expect from an expansion… and the fact that most of Season 1 LS content got removed already doesn’t help.

Just saying that if they think LS is like an expansion, then huge feature update likely doesn’t mean they are adding anything on the scale of Cantha or Elona.

my prediction of components in the feature build apart from we already know:

  • revamped ascended items
  • revamped commander system
  • new skills
  • new reward system for sPvP
  • new sPvP modes including maps for them
  • precursor via crafting
  • new legendary item
  • cook and jeweler at level 500 including ascended jewelry
  • fixes addressing fractals and dungeons
  • end of the berserker dominance
  • new masteries for WvW
  • account-wide WXP
  • new traps
  • fixes in general
  • first improvements addressing horizontal progression

I guess we will see as many feature as possible before we start of LW season 2 in Summer (maybe June or July) .

I’d say the whole Season 1 LS is an expansion worth of content.

I’d agree, if expansions went like this:
Company releases expansion for game, and you get it installed. But you have only xx amount of time to do it all. But you don’t due to, I don’t know, having a real life let’s say. Then the timer hits zero for the expansion and all the content is removed and your client no longer recognizes it.
You continue to play the vanilla version while your friends are running beside you with rewards and experiences and stories/lore from content you never had a chance to, and never will have a chance to, play.

Exactly, and just for the hell of it I’ll go ahead and say it again. If the LS introduced an “expansion worth of content” then I feel badly for the future of this game.

I really hope for some new pve zones.

Important to distinguish Features and Content.

Its not a Content update.

1. Make pve world more engaging, challenging, less about zergs, more about guilds.

2. Make SPvP more game modes, more victory options, exclusive spvp skins and more

3. Make WvWvW less about zergs and more about personal skill, give guilds a better way to claim things, and allow customization.

Nothing… big “feature patch” is just going to be their April Fools patch for this year, then we will be told the real patch will be in August. Calling it!

I just want a “duel” feature. I wanna have the possibility to kill my friends while i wait to enter LA. Also a nice shiny pvp flag would be nice.

Anet called some of their previous releases an expansion’s worth of content, so their idea of a huge feature update might not live up to everyone’s expectations, just saying.

This. There is no reason to expect any great stuff. What they promise and what they deliver…
