I think is expansion; other mmo game have and coming with, why not gw2?

I think Heart of Thorns is a good title for LS Season 2.
So maybe, after the final chapter gets released, there will be a boxed bundle including all 8 chapters that players, who pick up the game after LS S2 finished can buy.
Instead of paying 150 gems for each episode, they can buy it for 800 gems or 10 bucks, if Anet decides to put out a box to put in stores (for extra visibility).
PLEASE no! Let it not be! Although your logic is flawless and I cannot argue.
Although its 200 Gems per episode.
The Hype Train has long since past the last stop of Reasonable Argumentation.
One of the main reasons you came up with that theory is because you are not really interested in an expansion, in the first place.
So there is no difference between you and the ones hyping the expansion. Both of you want to believe in what you want. There is no reasonable argumentation. There are simply two groups of people, wanting to argument based on their biases. Really few people do introduce their opinions objectivly.
No trademark for seasons 1 & 2.
No logo for seasons 1 & 2.
Register of a trademark with Gw2 logo 10 days before PAX South and the end of S2.
Makes sense to me… (or that’s what I hope)
So how is this any different than
Guild Wars 2: Flame and Frost?

So how is this any different than
Guild Wars 2: Flame and Frost?
Guild Wars 2: Flame and Frost was not trademarked?
Yeah…. and Season 2 didn’t even have a title.
Its because different teams work on different LS episodes.

So a team from Anet went to Ncsoft offices and forced them to trademark a LS episode for the first time just because they felt like it. Makes sense.
Season 1 was named Flame and Frost? Wasn’t that just the first part with the Molten Alliance?

This is part of current speculation and it’s admittedly not necessarily a bad idea. I just don’t think that they would promote a large panel to announce content that players have already completed.

Im just not interested in a paid expansion, I have nothing against new content in bulk.
And how is it unreasonable to put Heart of Thorns (because thats where we basically went in Season 2) as a title for Living Story Season 2? And I am not hyping my opinion with posts like:
I’ll add to the hype train, choo choo!
The hype train has no brakes!
Lets do this!
THE TRAIN IS REAAAAAAAAAAAAAL
Hype hype hype hype hype!!!!! SHUUU SHUUUU ALL ONBOARD!

If you pay a graphic designer to make a logo for something…. and you don’t put a trademark on it, then this happens:
Will they (can they) use the logo before the trademark is approved? It says it will be sent to an attorney 3 months from now to be investigated.
If it will not (can not) be used until it is approved/registered, no content that will use this logo will be released for some time.
Something to consider….

Cause they have a 90 min presentation. And saw a link before where they said something like “Living world was just the beginning”
Still not a confirmation ofc, but it’s def plausible to think that the trademarked name could be connected with the upcoming content they are going to present at pax
inb4 it’s another book
I am not saying that it can’t be the title for Season 2 as a whole.
But I don’t really see the connection people like Wanze make with their “It is the name for Season 2, cause Heart of Thorns is exactly where we went in Season 2”.
And how exactly did we do that? That would be a terrible name for Season 2. We never got to the heart of anything, we went all over the place, did all sorts of unimportant things, survived many terrible cliffhangers etc etc.

This was my exact thinking on the new trademark. It is to combat the recent use of artwork.

Well, the last episode comes out today and we will probably get access to that flower thing we saw in the 5th(?) episode. Thats where the vines come from around silverwastes so in a way its the “Heart of Thorns”.

Season Two still doesn’t even have an official name…. and it would only make sense to give it one. Heart of Thorns is a pretty fitting name for S2 imo.

S1 didn’t have an official name either.
If anything S2 have more of an official name (at least for the second half) Point of no Return.

Ok so Anet suddenly does the following:
1. They add a title to season 2, something that has never happened before. Seasons don’t have titles.
2. They add the title the last day of the season.
3. They trademark a logo for season 2, something that has never happened before. Seasons don’t get specific logos.
4. The logo can’t be used before 3 months.
It all makes sense now. Anet will release a logo and a title for season 2, three months after the season end.
inb4 it’s another book
It can’t be a book, since you don’t trademark anything to make a book. Books are copyrighted.
Why would they make a new logo for a book?

Season 1 also isnt available for purchase atm, so there is no need to give it a name.

10/10 is gonna be FoW/UW style dungeon but this time it’s Melandru based. Heart of Thorns and all.

Solid point about copyright =/= trademark though

I prefer the Deep or Urgoz. Never cared much for the boring UW or FoW.

I am well aware of that, but I still don’t see it. Especially with naming the whole season based on something we see in the last episode? And something NO ONE, EVER, in the entire Season 2 ever said a word about that monster we will encounter tonight. Not even one NPC mentioned the fact that the vines keep growing closer and closer to the Pact base. Makes you forget it’s even there behind those vines.

It all makes sense now. Anet will release a logo and a title for season 2, three months after the season end.
If they are planning to sell the chapters players missed they will do something like:
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Living Story Pack
- Unlocks all available chapters for Living World Season 2
- Unlocks sPvP reward tracks, which grant players unique rewards.
- In-game items like Ley Line Finisher, and your choice of a Ley Line Weapon skin
etc.
Trademarking something you intend on selling is a pretty good idea.

Most of LS season 1 was called Flame and Frost
(edited by TheBlackLeech.9360)
4. The logo can’t be used before 3 months.
So you´re saying they arent allowed to use it at PAX then?

Even IGN posted an article about it. Word got out about this being a possible expansion…they are kinda obligated now to deliver it. If not..i don’t even want to know how big of a blow it will be to their image..both to new players & especially to oldschool players who have asked for this for years now.
It would be one of the biggest backfires any mmo would have received in recent years…..quite literally if u try to think about it.
Hype after hype after hype were proven to be much less then the community expected, almost each time. If they fail with this news it would be a fkfest of biblical proportions because a lot players would see it as the very last straw they could take.
I can’t wait to see how this will turn out. Specially after making that PAX statement that “Living story is just the begining” or something like that.

The naysayers are really starting to grasp at straws here
In my opinion this will be a new fresh expansion, just like other games have expansions. After 2.5 years since official launch, it seems obvious to have the first major addition of the game to shake things up, like an expansion.
So far I love the silence from community staff, adding up to the mystery and making it even more possible for this to be an expansion.

That would cause quite an outrage lol

And all the rage it would be completely undeserved, seeing as ArenaNet (or NCSoft for that matter) have said anything at all about it and people are just speculating.
But then again, people would not really care about that small but oh so important detail ^^

My guess is if the staff doesn’t quash the expansion rumor now, and it’s not an expansion, there’s going to be a riot.

I expect an outrage if it’s something else than Elona or Cantha. Eventhough it could be just as good

And if they do people will riot anyway due to them “saying there would be an expansion!!!!” by registering the trademark.

It is probably neither Elona or Cantha though or the last episode is going to have a huge plot-twist. Not to mention the issue Cantha has with a chinese release.
Expansion seems the obvious conclusion, although that would indicate (by the title) a whole expansion round Mordremoth and Maguuma. WHich isn’t a problem for me, but that would likely rule out Crystal Desert/Elona/other dragons etc which many ppl are also hyped about.
Whatever it points to, it sounds like an intriguing year ahead (and for MMOs in general looking at what expansions and DLC are due)
Calling it now, it’s either like people said: a gem store collection of episodes or maybe it’s in boxed form and/or added to the box in stores

I don’t expect Cantha or Elona. But I am really really really hoping for an actual expansion. A whole bunch of normal sized zones (not 1 or 2 tiny zones), New classes, weapon types, races, permanent dungeons etc. You know, the usual expansion kind of content.
Probably won’t happen, but I can dream.

My fault, this is speculation on my part that the PAX announcement will be GW2: HoT.
@lordkrall it’s a situation they created with their own hands. The communication is abysmal and that’s the best possible compliment i could ever give it. Undeserved or not, if it proves false, they fully “deserve the undeserved” flame that will come.
Specially now when even major gaming news sites like IGN (which i am sure do their research before posting news on their site, to keep up credibility) came into play. That combined with what ANet said about PAX “living story is just the begining” all the steps they took seem like they WANT to point towards an expansion. If not, it would be the worst series of failed “hidden communication” any company could possibly make, when fully knowing what most ppl expect from an mmo.
However u look at it, if they don’t deliver it WILL be a major marketing blow for them.
I edited my previous post with some other thoughts i had.

Though if it turns out to be just them selling all the season 2 episodes in one pack I am going to explode -_-
